Not sure how this will play out with us playing Titans this week.

After multiple positive COVID tests in their organization , the Titans are halting in-person work today and made this announcement: pic.twitter.com/2LDjIBgyor

The #Titans had three new player positives and five new personnel positives for COVID-19, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. Both Titans and Vikings, who hosted them Sunday, will suspend in person club activities starting today.

A league source just texted me: "We are shutting Tennessee down until Saturday"
That means no Titans coaches or players can be in the building.

So if the game is played Sunday, the Titans will have had only "virtual" practices the whole week leading up to the game?

Steelers would be affected big time with this potential schedule change that I am seeing talked about on the internets. Our bye would also fuck us by going from week 8 to week 4.
"There’s a fairly easy schedule fix, if the game is postponed. The Titans have a Week Seven bye, the Steelers play the Ravens in Week Seven, and the Steelers and Ravens have Week Eight byes. So the NFL could move Steelers-Titans to Week Seven and Steelers-Ravens to Week Eight, with Baltimore’s bye coming in Week Seven.
That would put the Steelers on the road for three straight games, however — at Tennessee, at Baltimore, and at Dallas"

Beginning of the end of the season?

Damn this is not good.

This happened a few times with MLB, and then guys stopped being selfish about violating the rules.
The problem is the NFL is faced with a longer season. And it takes a few players on a bad team with no hope of the playoffs to infect a dozen guys on their squad.
I don't like the idea of a schedule change - why penalize PIT for what is likely a TEN violation of protocol? I think it may be a bit draconian, but shut a team down for the week and then they can dress anyone who passes two rapid tests on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
I realize sometimes an outbreak might be bad luck even if all protocols are followed. But I'm guessing it's usually lack of compliance given all the anecdotal evidence we've seen from college and pros. TEN shouldn't get a do-over. Loss of practice and possibly personnel for a game or more is the price to be paid for not following the rules. Everyone on the team needs to do it, non-player personnel included. There have to be real consequences if you don't.

I’m sorry - what exactly is “the protocol”? These teams aren’t playing/operating in a bubble. Aren’t the players allowed to hit the clubs after a big win just like every other asshat in these communities?Kodiak wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 3:54 pmThis happened a few times with MLB, and then guys stopped being selfish about violating the rules.

From Reddit, apparently they had a defensive player test positive on SATURDAY, a day before the Vikings game. Soooooo, what was the response exactly? That the NFL is taking this as serious as they should?

No, it's not a bubble. But if you follow the guidelines and precautions, the evidence is pretty overwhelming that it works. MLB wasn't a bubble, either, and with the exception of a few incidents they have stayed mostly clean.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 3:59 pmI’m sorry - what exactly is “the protocol”? If players are going to engage in high-risk behavior, including bars & restaurants, then there are consequences. Selfish behavior is going to hurt your team.
It's a free country, but if one of my multi-millionaire dollar players took the family out to dinner at a busy restaurant and got Covid, I'd be more than a little pissed (as should his teammates). We're not dealing with Bob from accounting that can work from home.

Steelers shouldn't be punished for a TEN or NFL screw up. The futzing with the schedule mentioned above is egregiously bad for the Steelers.

Oh I agree, but these stupid NFL commercials showing all of these “precautions” that they are taking is just to distract and make it seem like the bubble concept isn’t needed, but it is because this is what can happen. I know people in Nashville. Apparently you wouldn’t think there is anything going on based on the frequency of wearing masks, people in proximity in tight spaces like bars, restaurants, etc. It was bound to happen in a place like that. With this virus, you don’t have it until you do, and once you do, it’s is a challenge containing it.

Just skip the game. I understand reimbursing all those ticket sales will hurt, but it’s the right answer.
As I understand the rules, the Titans will have to play the game minus their players and possibly without in-person practice.
Unless they have an outbreak that makes it so they can't field a team.

Bigger problem for Steelers if the game is moved Is that Titans may get back Lewan and AJ Brown. Much prefer to keep the schedule as is. But slim to none chance that happens.

No decision has yet been made about Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Nashville, a source told ESPN. The Vikings' next game is Sunday at the Houston Texans.

This is why the NFL made those changes to the practice squad. Next man up. They’re not going to change up multiple teams schedules any bye weeks because what happens if/when it happens again? To the same team or multiple other teams? Play ball this weekend or Monday at the latest or forfeit if you can’t suit up.

It's a bad signal to the league if you accommodate TEN. You'd be telling players they can be less diligent so long as they have an upcoming bye to flex a game.Smashmouth21 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 4:34 pmBigger problem for Steelers if the game is moved Is that Titans may get back Lewan and AJ Brown. And it's only going to get more challenging with kids back in school and fall/winter forcing people indoors more often.
The answer is pretty obvious. Either cases like this will be few, and so TEN has to suffer the consequences. Or cases like this will be many, and teams will just have to roll with it. In either scenario, you play the game as scheduled. You expanded rosters precisely because of this possibility.

The bye swapping scenario largely being floated would also put the Steelers on the road for a tough three game stretch AND give the Ravens a bye the week before a pivotal divisional game. Steelers going to pay for Titans issues big time.
Over on a titans forum they are saying the steelers should STFU because it might happen to them later in the season, therefore they should accommodate the titans and move the game to the bye week. IOW, fuck the steelers. EDIT : at least some of them, anyway. . .Smashmouth21 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 4:47 pmThe bye swapping scenario largely being floated would also put the Steelers on the road for a tough three game stretch AND give the Ravens a bye the week before a pivotal divisional game. Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
With the NFL schedule being pretty inflexible, they are only going to be able to accommodate a few teams that test positive. After that, it all goes to hell. Should be interesting to see what happens.

#Titans
coaches have told players if they have to go without any work until Saturday, have a walkthrough then and play the #Steelers Sunday then that's what they'll have to do. No excuses.

As of now, the #Titans
-#Steelers and #Texans-#Vikings games are both on for Sunday. However, the NFL is evaluating the situation and will adjust if needed as more information is gathered. Teams are still working through contact tracing data, etc.
A lot of moving parts.

So if it is not decided to be rescheduled until Thursday or Friday and the Steelers bye turns into this week (week 4), then that means they will have had NO bye week this year because the Steelers would have spent their "bye" week preparing to play a game that week.
