Here's the thing. Shoe is on the other foot and say Brady and Gronk aren't playing but Ben is, we're still worried Belichick will figure out a way to win with Garrapolo or Brissette. Does anyone truly believe the Steelers will find a way to win other than just plain hope with Laundry freakin Jones? Be honest now.

Of course not. Tomlin is a motivator, he's not a guy whose going to out-scheme a great coach in the vast majority of situations. Plus, Garrapolo actually has talent.

Belicheck is a great coach

Who tapes other teams walk through, hacks headsets, and communicates with his QB up to snap

Is he a better coach than a cheating bastard? History will decide I'm sure.

Pats D is exploitable

If we can use both dwill bell and brown to just fool them we can break big plays

Landry has to work the RB pass game and also take a few shots deep on some P/a posts

Belicheat is abandoning the tablets.....new developments and Rog and MSFT make statements

Hmmm. Maybe he ants to go back to Ernie's new hotline channel. Maybe he should be fined for non compliance

Hoping for the NFL police to come cracking.......anyone in Pittsburgh know where the PAts are staying ? 8-)

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said today that he’s no longer going to use the Microsoft Surface tablets that the NFL gives to coaches to use on the sidelines, saying he finds them unreliable. But the league and Microsoft say they are proud of the product.

“We respect Coach Belichick’s decision, but stand behind the reliability of Surface,” Microsoft said in a statement. “We continue to receive positive feedback on having Surface devices on the sidelines from coaches, players and team personnel across the league. In the instances where sideline issues are reported in NFL games, we work closely with the NFL to quickly address and resolve.”

The league, which has a relationship with Microsoft worth a reported $400 million, unsurprisingly was quick to say that relationship remains a strong one.

“Microsoft is an integral, strategic partner of the NFL and implementing their technology on our sidelines has increased the efficiency and speed of collaboration between coaches and players to an all-time high,” the NFL’s statement said. “Within our complex environment, many factors can affect the performance of a particular technology either related to or outside of our partner’s solutions. We continue to work with all of our partners to ensure the best systems are in place to most effectively assist the clubs in the execution of their game plan.”

Belichick, who threw a tablet in disgust in a sideline eruption this season, apparently has decided that no tablet is going to help him game plan.

I agree. The Phins wanted it badly. More than the steelers. If they can beat the Pats missing a HOF QB and so many missing pieces out due to injury, imagine what it would be like with home field advantage and everybody healthy for the playoffs?

I wonder why the same shit is being thrown at Landry this year as last. I just don't understand how one can make a judgment based on the limited snaps he's taken. It just too small a sample set, I would think. So many here changed their opinion of him after his success, only to shit all over him again this year. I don't get it.

The steelers went 2-2 with two backups last year, and one of those wins was with Vick, IIRC. And he played like steaming shit. You can't expect the backup to be an all star, yet that's what's being expected. Who here would refuse a 2-2 record with a backup? I'd venture a guess and say it would have been 3-1 if Vick didn't play.

Fuck Vick. One of the worst signings in recent history, imo. I'll take Landry. He knows the offense better than the other burger - who has a 0-10 record, yes? At least Landry know how to win. Either way, I've not seen either one of them in practice. . .

Not one D in the NFL is exploitable with this college QB we have.

Any player on this team who is not 100% should rest, rest, rest.....

I posted this in the Riding thread. If Jones does the simple things, let's see if it provides green!!
------------

Here are the numbers on the Pats DVOA:

It's clear to me, the Pats are going to stack the box to stop the run on Bell/DWill. We have to employ a power RB screen game, with Either Grimble, James, Coates, DHB, Rogers getting open in the intermediary, as I expect Brown is shadowed. I figure the blocking schemes are key with Dwill and the TE's chipping.

The numbers show this must be the game plan. Hopefully Landry Jones is taking extra practice on throwing short/passes. We still must attempt some over the top to back them out of the box. Lets hope our D can muster some strength and Haley designs this one correct. If we can move the ball and kill clock, we can win

Top Portion is Defensive DVOA/DAVE summary, Negative numbers is better for Defense, Bottom is the DOVA's on individual positions.

Inexcusable to think Ben would play all 16 regular season games...and not have a solid contingency plan. Landry freakin' Jones....what a shame....

The only chance that the Steelers have in this game is if one of you locals finds the Pats* hotel and kidnaps Ernie Adams until the game is over. Who's up for it?

Injury Report:

Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier (knee) expects to return against the Patriots in Week 7.
Shazier returned to a full practice on Thursday and is on track to play for the first time since Week 3. Vince Williams will head back to the bench upon his return.
Source: Aditi Kinkhabwala on Twitter Oct 20 - 4:08 PM

DeAngelo Williams (knee) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice.
Williams sat out Wednesday's session but the Steelers claimed it wasn't injury related. His continued absence on Thursday suggests that Williams is indeed hurt. Even if he plays this week, Williams won't have much of a role with Le'Veon Bell getting almost all of Pittsburgh's rushing work. Fitzgerald Toussaint is listed third on the Steelers' running back depth chart.

Rushing Defense 18th in NFL
Passing Defense 31st in NFL
Sacks 28th in NFL
Total Defense 29th in NFL

Say what you will about LeBeau at least the D was consistently top 10. This isn't Steeler football, we don't attack anymore. Butler sucks and so does the vaunted Baby Shit Defense!

The Pats are going to have a field day. Terrible!

Deangelo is out, shit.

DeAngelo Williams (knee) has been ruled out for Week 7.
Fitzgerald Toussaint will back up Le'Veon Bell against New England. Williams has no timetable for a return, but we suspect he'll be back after the Steelers' Week 8 bye.

i wouldn't be at all surprised if we pull out a win on Sunday, even a commanding one

(which is not the same as saying i expect them to)

our defense has to play lights out, and it's perfectly possible they'll be 'up' after last week's lapse

Landry needs to complete the occasional third-and-long pass and not make any mistakes

Bell needs to have a huge game

these things could all happen, though the likelihood of them all happening in the same game is admittedly slim

but stranger things, etc.

Isn't going to happen because they are going to play it extremely close to the vest with Landry Jones at QB.

I don't know about that, Jeems. They may well have more running calls than usual, but I think they know that any drive versus this Patriots team that's not producing points will be a cause for concern. They've made statements to the effect of running the same offense/same game plan with Laundry as they would with Ben. I just hope they do it, and Laundry put the ball where it needs to be.

The Boston talk radio...prob to increase listenership admittedly....is talking up the Steelers chances. Teams generally rally after laying an egg, Steelers are at home, etc., etc.

I wonder if it's because he said it off the record and he promised the team he wouldn't reveal until after it happened in the game.

Steelers have the worst sack rate in the NFL - a sack every 30 drop backs. The league average is 1 sack for every 16.

They have to do something.
