They're benching Brisette because even though he has defied expectations and played pretty well, he's still Jacoby Brisette and won't be able to hang with the Allen's, Mahomes' and Burrows' of the world come playoff time.

If the Browns even make the playoffs.

Cleveland is paying the serial sex offender RIDICULOUS money because the possibility exists that Watson actually can hang with the big boys.

Also, while it's been nearly 2 years since Watson played, the last full season he played for the Texans, Watson threw 33 TD passes and 7 INT's.

Watson is an elite QB when he isn't assaulting women.
Cleveland will need to win out to make the playoffs. A 9-8 record won't cut it since they've lost to every team in the WC hunt (except Cincinnati).

FWIW, much of Watson's production in 2020 came in garbage time....not that it means much (see Matt Stafford)

He's had one good playoff game out of three and it's been a long time. It's also been a long time since he suited up at all.

Yes, he had a high level of play for a while there but it's no guarantee that he still has it. You're right about Brissett, though.

I'm not a Deshaun Watson fan, but he has the ability to be a tier 1 QB. He was on his way to that tier when everyone found out the guy should be in prison.

It's true it's been nearly 2 years since he played, but he's still a relatively young guy and I don't think it'll be difficult for Watson to find his old form.

Cleveland also has one helluva roster. For how much longer? I don't know. Probably not very long with what they're paying Watson but they'll definitely hang on to the core of Watson, Chubb, Garrett, Ward, etc.

The Browns are going to be very, very tough going forward, unless Watson (who is literally AS DUMB AS A FUCKING POST) starts calling massage therapists again.

Cleveland has a bottom 5 defense, so IDK about them having a "great" team, but if he plays to his highest form, it's possible they could win out.

Cam Newton was league mvp at age 26 and declined quickly from there. Watson was 25 when he last played and will be 28 next season. I think a big factor is how much a qb relies on their mobility; legs don’t really last to age 30, but arms are good for an extra decade.

I wouldn’t be surprised either way. He certainly was a great player for a while.

People are saying Wilson is calling Seattle audibles and code and no one in Denver knows what he is saying.

Watson can definitely run and running the ball is a weapon for him, but he is a much better and more consistent passer than a guy like Lamar Jackson, who relies far more on his legs and running the ball than the predator.

Watson can throw the ball better than Cam ever could. What killed Cam was his style of running. He tried to run guys over every time he ran and that took a quick toll on his body. Watson has strength when he runs but isn't about being a tough guy like Newton was with his legs. Watson will run and get the fuck out of bounds or will slide.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I believe Watson's game is going to age MUCH, MUCH better than Lamar or Cam's will and did.

They may be underperforming defensively, but there is a bunch of talent on that team.

We'll see if it comes together and if they can keep all that talent together (probably not, with Watson's contract) but they have some beasts.

If Watson can quickly regain his form from 2020, look the fuck out.

Wilson was great in 2020. What makes you think watson can still play?
And they're benching a QB who has played pretty damn well this year for a guy who hasn't done shit for years and who, also, had a top 5 defense in the postseason and whimpered out .
