Eagles injury report from Friday
Looks like Jeffery and Jackson out on the offense and Maddox out on the back end of the D
Eagles game
You know, the Eagles have a lot of injuries. Maybe we should get another bye week and schedule this game for later in the season when the Eagles are healthy.

Reminded me of our OT loss to the Falcons in 2006. I was living in the Atlanta area at the time. 3 QBs threw at least 2 TDs in that game, an NFL oddity. Ben was injured during the game, Batch in relief.Pabst wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 2:49 pmYep. It was 2002.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 2:42 pmDidn’t Vick lead Atlanta to a crazy tie years ago in Pitt?Pabst wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 1:42 pm
Part of the answer is that we only play in Philly once every 8 years. It's the same deal with Chicago.
On the flip side, Green Bay hasn't won in Pittsburgh since 1970. Arizona since 1969. Detroit hasn't won in Pittsburgh since 1955. And Atlanta has never won in Pittsburgh.
Fun story about that game - I was living in Cleveland at the time, and the Browns weren't playing in the same time slot, so it was on locally. At the end of OT, the Steelers were at midfield and Tommy Maddox heaved a hail mary. The moment the ball left his hand, a "Fox 8 Weather Alert" came on. We immediately flipped on the radio to find out what happened....as it turned out, Plex caught the ball just short of the goal line, and the officials were reviewing it.
For some reason, Fox was having viewers call in with weather updates - i remember at least one person unleashing a profanity laced tirade.
Throw. The. Football. On. First. Down.
No Jeffery. No D Jackson.
Missing and banged up OL.
Have to think Eagles gonna try and run.
But seeing how the Steelers have shut down run games, most likely Eagles mix it up with more 1st down passing, miss direction, roll outs, boot legs, etc.
Trying to trick and outsmart the Steelers defense will be the only way to move the ball and stay out of long downs and distances that will put Wentz in danger without J and J to throw to. Take away his comfort in Ertz should be Primary goal.
Steelers need to pressure, hit and harass Wentz all day. With an extra week of rest for the defense, This could be another game that the Steelers TKO another QB.
I mentioned in last week's game thread. That a Steeler defense with Watt Dupree Cam Tuit Alualu, Highsmith and Ola..... that the PS should not have to blitz as much...... and would be better off dropping 7 in coverage in long downs and distances. Why not go one down lineman and rush 4 by bringing in Ola or Highsmith to rush with Watt, Dupree and Cam on long downs. A 3rd and long defense with Watt, Dupree, Cam and Ola rushing, while dropping Bush, Haden, Nelson, Minka, Edmunds, Hilton and Sutton should provide winning results.
that drive before the half by Houston last week saw inferior talent on the field rushing the passer. Remember saying, WTF is Carlos Davis, Buggs or Wormley rushing the passer on that drive.... while it could have been Ola and or Highsmith instead. Seeing that lineup, of one DL and 3 OLBs...
A draw or QB scramble would have been a win, given clock and time out situation for Houston.
On the other hand, the Eagles defense can get after the QB too. They lead the NFL in sacks with 17 vs the Steelers 15, tho they played one more game.
That front of the Eagles is pretty talented.
Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson, Javon Hargrave return, Brandon Graham. Hopefully the Steelers OL is 100% healthy and spent a good week meshing and working on protections and run game.
Steelers need to NOT run into the teeth and middle of that deline, and continue to mix in the misdirection, pulling, double pulling, etc. we saw a good deal in second half last week.
Protect Ben.
This can easily turn into an ugly offensive game with Tomlin mentality of knowing Eagles offense is banged up and we can afford to win 17-16.
Mix in some more PA today.
Get both Ebron and Vance involved early to get ball out of Bens hands earlier in game to keep chains moving. More quick slants to JuJu, Dionte. Get ac deep shot to Claypool. Maybe this is the game Washington finds one deep, given all the weapons, he seems like he can sneak one in on single coverage.
Rotate the backs, build on McFarlands last game.
Go Steelers.
