Fantastic save by Weidl/Khan

Sure THEY look quite amateurish all on the phone with Lemon allowing Howie and the Eagles to SWOOP in and snipe their guy, but that was divine draft intervention.

THANK YOU, HOWIE!

And thank you OMAR for being asleep at the wheel in front 300,000 drunk yinzers (most of whom could name like 3 draft prospects).

This pick is going to prove to be a HOME RUN.

Not because I'm any kind of aMax lheanachor expert, but because he will not be coached by Tomlin, Uncle Artie, AND PAT FUCKING MEYER!

New Day

HOPEFULLY new results.

What now?

Obviously dumbass K-H-A-N (He's not a hot dog) tipped his hand being on the phone with a wide receiver.

Fortunately he has FOUR....that's 4.....Friday night picks to acquire a quality Wide Receiver.

PLENTY of flavors left on the board (I'd be happy with several including Ted Hurst, Chris Brazzell, Germie, or either Bell).

Are there PLENTY of Offensive Tackles left on the board?

HELL NO

Supply and demand

The draft is going FINE

Max is a GREAT pick

Howie saved Omar from himself

Don't let the ham and eggers on the Internet form your opinion.

Jerkoffs like Andrew Filliaponi do not know a gawd damn thing about the players in the draft or any draft

In fact those of his ilk that don't like the pick, reaffirm my own belief that it was a great pick, the CORRECT pick.
Not letting any ham and egger tell me 2 nfl front offices were wrong about Lemon, and the keyboard prospect evaluators were right either tho. I might question Omar and our idiots, but Howie id trust.
Like when Howie drafted Jaelon Reagor at #21 a pick before Justin Jefferson?

B2B and Drama’s seal of approval is all I need.

Love B2B and Drama. But...lets hope Lemon is another bust because if hes as good as most guys that evaluate players for a living say, we'll be hearing about this draft day fuckup for years and years. I felt gutted for Pittsburgh last night. To have that happen to you, in Pittsburgh, is just the worst optics you could imagine happening.

Moral of the story...

Stay off the phone until its actually your turn to pick.

Came onto this OP with the intent of saying Iggles were playing chess while Steelers playing checkers, and I was good and pissed last night.

But now....just hoping that you asshats who pay far more attention to draft and prospects than do I (I pay zero attention) are right about the guy we got. And yes, Lemon looked freakin out to lunch in his interview with Laura Rutledge (who's kinda hot).
Yup...lol.
Some of those youing kids were just gazing into her eyes...not even listening to the questions...lol.

Watching her talk.......i Just kept thinking of Joe Willie....

The moment Broderick had the neck fusion surgery, OT became a big issue. When it was confirmed his timetable is unknown but longer than the start of camp... OT became an imperative. And there aren't exactly a ton of great OTs in the class, especially ones who could start at G if that's the best 5.

I'm completely good with the pick-

they definitely need OLine help, and McCarthy has a history of drafting tackles and playing them across the line- So it remains to be seen where Max will line up.

I am even more happy they didn't draft the mental midget, Lemon. That kid is about 11 shy of a dozen.

KC Concepcion is going to be a serious receiving threat, and I'm slightly surprised he was still there, and they didn't take him- but

there are other quality receivers to be had, and fewer quality OTs- so I get it. PLUS they have greater need for early contribution for the OLine vs contribution from a rookie WR.

I do expect them to attempt to trade up in Rd 2, to take a receiver. I think either Antonio Williams or possibly Boston or Bernard are the likely targets.

IF they are gone- you could see the team sit and wait for one of the developmental receivers in Rd 3 There are a bunch of these type players.

my unsolicited thoughts

considering what was left on the board, I think the pick may be as good as we could do
they obviously were going to take lemon, but IMO OT was the better pick
i didnt really want lemon -- not because he looked crazy but just dont see him moving any needles
and give the kid a break -- he was half excited, half ego-bruised, overwhelmed. Bain looked angry too, some guys have an edge -- like bain and reese.
Our WR situation isnt great but not even close to how stupidly bad it was last year -- bad and bad due to inexcusable negligence/decisions
OT is premium position with drop off after the-anchor and there are plenty of WRs left and not big (or no) drop off from lemon.
I thought it would be OG in round 2 but with rutledge already off the board not sure there will be any value OG picks when we go
there are IMO ALOT of potential high quality future starters available tonightt .. this draft is light up top but deep.
lots of rally good ones tonight -- tacario, kilgore, bernard, brazzell, hunter, scott, hill, rodriguez .... lots more

prepare to lose you minds tonight when allar/greene/beck/or payton are taken at the end of the third (or earlier) ;)

our steeler hopes lie not so much in these picks but in fat mike and his staff being able to build a team, maximize talent with scheme and develop guys. I really believe we will soon be shown exactly how bad MT was at these things -- the last decade has been a fraud perpetrated on the fanbase. Not a fan of Khan and wasnt crazy about the new coach, but think we will find its still a step up from previous naked emperor. And curious to see if Fat Mike gives the "Captains" the same amount of bullshit leeway they are used to.

I think QB at 99 is a lock. I'd say it's going to be Beck, Allar, Nuss, Payton or Green... but that doesn't narrow it down much.

Everyone has their plan B. Players getting sniped isn’t unusual. The bad look comes from the Steelers being on the phone with the prospect before they were on the clock. But this is just another bush league move from an organization that is becoming more and more bush league by the day. Khan and A2 are not particularly good at this.

The Steelers did what they stopped doing. After Jamain Stephens, the Steelers stopped taking OTs in the first round until Jones. Stephens and Jones are the only two OTs taken in the first round since 1996. Both of them were flops.

There was another Sun Devil tackle drafted that did fairly well

Whether you like pick or not, it's quite a change to have a coherent, non word salad response to "What do you like about the pick?"

I know...that's what I mean...it doesn't usually get exposed like this.

What are they doing calling up the guy before it's their turn?

And then the Eagles couldn't reach him because he was on the phone with the Steelers.

Add to that Crapoport tweeted out it was bush league and then added Go @NHLFlyers.

I don't need two Pittsburgh sports teams getting punked by Philly.

Bad enough that I have to take shit from Flyers fans because I live in the Philly area. :D

Khan needs to go back to managing excel spreadsheets while A2 needs to pass the torch to a Rooney that is not a chickenshit coward more afraid of losing a few extra games than they dare to win.

Interesting clip here from
@BarstoolGruden
on new #Steelers OT Max Iheanachor.

Bobby Kady raves about Iheanachor, calling him one of the biggest steals in the draft class, believes he can play either OT position.

H/T
@FrankCorleonee
for sharing it.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
