I'm with Swiss on this one. Let's wait and see what happens. After all McCarthy has been an OC.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 7:04 pmGood to know that you asshats have all the answers, know exactly what's going to happen next season.
Funny, I know he has a QB, but Harbaugh, older than McCarthy, is being hailed as a fuckin messiah in New York.
Whoever was brought in as HC would have a challenge at QB.
Too bad so many of you are renouncing your fandom. My guess is you'll still be around.

this can’t really be happening
just bad luck,
The new changes will fix it
They aren’t full pirates suck … but I do believe they have shown they don’t care about winning championships. Thye care about stable mediocrity and guaranteed money
The Steelers could hire the ghost of Adolf Hitler and swiss would still be all "Now hold on guys, let's let things play out, maybe he's changed his ways...."
You can be a fan and still fucking hate this move. Despise it.
Art II is a weak coward.

I have multiple friends … fans of other teams … texting me with this news and laughing at Steelers
‘’Complete disaster in Pittsburgh’
‘Is this a joke’
‘’How much do they feed him everyday’”
“This is very strange”
"oh No! Bad Hire"
And a new and best one just in … I didn’t make this up
“There must be some business model or tax advantage to remaining mediocre forever”
‘
I can’t wrap my head around this;)
Who looks at the steers big picture and picks Mike McCarthy !!!!!
Even under the premise of no rebuild
They bring back Rodgers and ….. fuck …. I don’t know …. It’s not Sane

My guess, the other guy who was described as "blowing them away" was Anthony weaver, talking about "violence " and shit. Seems to me that he woulda been the Tomlin hire!!
McCarthy has established offensive chops...just that makes this not the usual hire.

The owners need to get him out. But the fans need not to show up at home games

McCarthy is the fat Tomlin. Expect 8-9 seasons instead of 9-8.
Later fuckers, I’m done.
He and nutting can celebrate together

I will say that this hire makes my wanting Kevin Stefanski to be the new HC look pretty reasonable.
Oh well.
I was so excited when Mediocre Mike left. I’m not sure how I feel right now, but my enthusiasm has been tempered quite a bit.
I’m still thrilled to pieces that Tomlin is gone, but....

One day many of you will come to realize Tomlin although certainly flawed was saddled with Rooney’s bullshit pretty much from Day 1
Not making excuses for Tomlin. It was past time for him to move on
The Rooneys are by far the biggest problem with this franchise

All we need to do now is resign A-aron and lure Jordy Nelson and Donald Driver out of retirement and we'll be loaded with packers vets to make that 2010 super bowl run again.

I've said on this sight for years that though I wanted Tomlin gone, I was petrified with what Art would replace him with, been a Steeler and Laker fan my entire life, and they are quite possible 2 or the worst run franchises in the world right now....FML.
This sucks. It's a gut punch, but it's 10x better than Flores or Weaver. That's the silver lining.
McCarthy at least is an offensive coach and isn't a complete dinosaur offensively. But, that's about it.

I mean McCarthy is a clear upgrade from Mr. 7 straight playoff blowouts, but it's not a time to celebrate. I have to see who he hires as OC and DC. That will be key.CoolShades wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 7:49 pmI will say that this hire makes my wanting Kevin Stefanski to be the new HC look pretty reasonable.

A young Mike McCarthy worked with both Khan and Weidl in New Orleans, seems like another good ole boy hire, when this doesn't work out Art should retire, and Dan should fire everyone in the building and start fresh.

Does have a proven record developing QB's, maybe that was the thought process, Steeler front office probably finally realizes is time to quit bringing in retreads at the QB position and draft one.

All 3 were EQUALLY uninspiring hires.
Senile Jerry Jones even knew to bail on Fat Mike.
The elation of being free of Tomlin for me came with the worry that Rooney would fuck this up.
He didn’t disappoint
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
A hoagie sandwich and some baby wipes?
Can McCarthy even wipe his own ass? Doubt he could reach around that far. Probably has a bidet.

I mean sure....but that stat about super bowl winning coaches never winning with another team is pretty fucking glaring. You'd think an ownership group that cares so much about history would be cognizant of that fact.
If we were gonna go retread I'd much rather have McDermott. At least he'd be paired with all GM that wasn't a completely arrogant moneyball-obsessed cunt and could build a team more appropriate to his vision.
