RE: Highsmith...he missed 6 games due to injury, which I know is an issue as well, so his 9.5 sacks were in 11games, with snap counts averaging around 70%. Also, sacks aren't everything. This guy sets the fuckin edge. He may not be "elite" but he's goddamn good!!
Besides QB & WR, what are the "obvious" needs, as you see them?
In the Steelers 3-4 defense where 90% of QB pressure comes from the OLB’s, sacks are hugely important and Highsmith has registered double digit sacks 1 time since he landed in Pittsburgh back in 2020.
You also gave another reason why Highsmith will never be more to me than “good.” Dude is fragile as all fuck. He may be very good against the run and is a good pass rusher, but he is injured A LOT. That’s a problem.
Other obvious needs are CB to pair with JPJ and at safety. I would double down with 2 picks at WR because unless the Steelers use their first rounder to find a QB, I think Denzel Boston will be that first round pick.

Right on highsmith's fragility; that's why I cited it, but the dude is solid when healthy. As far as corner, I would argue we're okay there with Pierre, Samuel, and even Echols as the 3rd paired with JPJ. Safety, yeah concerning...got Elliott coming back, hopefully strong. Ramsey is a $19M cap hit, none of it dead money if he's moved, so we'll see. Should def fix WR with a plethora of draft picks.

I’d argue differently

Seems to me that the biggest problem in our secondary… Again… Was communication, again that's on coaching

I think I’d try to resign Pierre and Samuel and be prepared to lose Porter because he’s going to want too much
I’m definitely restructuring or cutting Ramsey

Could they be looking for Mike for something. besides HC?
Yes. There´s a theory/speculation that if Schelhaase is HC, McCarthy will be OC. Schelhaase would need experienced coordinators anyway and Steelers can probably force him to accept this (just like Falcons forced Stefanski to accept Ullbrich as his DC). And we can always take McCarthy as QB coach. (Just for the record - I don´t want McCarthy as HC.)
Regarding our HC - I keep seeing on Twitter that if Shula is HC and Schelhaase is OC, Raheem Morris will be DC. We´ll know soon.
