Any thoughts on Joe Brady? Bills OC.
Spent 2 years under Sean Payton when Brees was QB.... that's alot of brain waves to absorb.

Passing game coordinator and wr coach for a year and 2019 insane LSU season with Joe Burrow, J. Chase and J Jefferson.

QB coach and then OC with bills.
Bills offense missing alot of pieces this year.

He's been around and involved with alot of great talent and minds in a short time.
Payton. Brees. Burrow. Chase. JJ. Josh.

I think the common theme around many of these "hot" offensive minds, is that they are around and are coaching under and with very good offensive minded teams, head coaches with pretty good players.
So have they just progessed up the ranks on those teams and when they leave the next guy jumps in , plugs away and will be next years hot commoditiy?

Maybe we look back again at the candidates and see who was doing the most with what?

A deeper thought on Klay Kubiak, S.F. offensive coordinator.

I believe Shanahan is the play caller?

Kubiak has the NFL bloodlines........
and has been around NLF football since he was able to pick up and throw a football.
Probably been around NFL players, practices, ball boy etc....for years.
I would assume he probably watched and studied NFL film with his Dad as much as or more than any of these assistants being mentioned.
I am sure he and his brother Klint, who is a year older, ate slept and drank football, side by side.

Klay has been with S.F. since 2021 starting as a defensive assistant.
So 5 years under the wings of Kyle Shanahan.

He was assistant QB coach for 2022 and 23
Offensive passing game specialist in 2024
and OC this past year.

Brock Purdy rookie year was 2022.
S.F. has lost some good players......
Aiuyk to injury in 2024.
CMC played only 4 games in 2024.
2024 was an off year missing those two.
Purdy, Josh Dobbs and Brandon Allen were all under center in that season.

Big part and heart of the team Deebo Samuel gone in 2025.
Purdy missed 8 games this year.

How instumental was Klay in the developmnt of Purdy.
He worked with 3 starting QBs in 2022
Trey Lance started the first two, Garopolo started about 10.
Purdy played in 9 games and was 5-0 as a starter.

How about in having Mac Jones ready to step in for 11 games with 8 starts.
MJ went 5-3 in 8 starts, 13 TDs, 6 INT almost 70% completion and 97 rating.

Sam Darnel spent the 2023 season on that SF team............mostly watching
how did he refine his game from a mental and strategic standpoint?

SF seems to keep doing it when they lose players.
S.F. will pound the rock......
But is also designed to toss it all over the field, using many players.

My choice as of right now is probably Shula. He mixes both leadership AND innovation well. He's been under McVay a while and has taken the lowest paid D in the league and made them work about as well as you can expect. (Basically the opposite of Tomlin.). I also think he'll be aggressive and believe in a strong attack 2026 offense.

"Steelhouse" is interesting but here's my problem with him right now. He's just the passing game coordinator on a team where NOT EVEN THE OC CALLS THE PLAYS. He's two steps removed from HC and McVay basically micromanages the offense still. We would basically be asking a partial PLAY DESIGNER to step in and run the 6-time SB Champs.

It's a real stretch. That's why I would love the Shula Steelhouse combo plan.

Great play design. Play calling. OL movement and pulling. Miss-direction and deception. In and out RB rotation to stay fresh.

I'm realized i have a standard thought at this time of year while watching the playoffs. Why can't the Steelers run those sorts of offenses? Even if they hire a DC as HC I hope beyond hope that they bring in an innovative OC

Klint Kubiak w/ Scheelhause as OC for me. Let the two genius minds meld together to create an O that easily scores 40+ points a game and possesses the ball for 45 minutes a game. If they can do that, who gives a shit about a defense!

I keep getting the two Kubiak's mixed up. Rooneys love collecting brothers on the team. Maybe both coming would be enough to get the Rooneys to truly embrace today's NFL. I just don't see hiring a DC doing that.
