To QB Or Not QB...

…THAT IS THE QUESTION

The answer?

Man, I soooo want to mock the wicked fun Trinidad Chambliss to your beloved Steelers. But why bother? He's not a finished product. I wouldn’t wish Tomlin and Uncle Artie on my worst enemy let alone any QB under 40. So I figure just fill holes and wait on drafting a stud QB until Tomlin moves on with his life’s work.

1.) Kayden McDonald 6’3 328 DT Ohio State- No shot my first mock of the season doesn’t have my son’s former North Gwinnett teammate going in the top spot. Once upon a time, I pined for the Steelers to draft Suwanee GA's own and fellow Buckeye Cam Heyward. That pick turned out pretty, pretty, good (minus the playoff wins, obviously). The proverbial Coke machine with legs, Suwanee GA's own Kayden McDonald will be a BEAST the middle of the Steelers' defense has not had since Casey Hampton.

2.) Chris Brazell 6’5 200 WR Tennessee- Big play, VERTICAL threat for the Vols. Man, it pains me to waste early draft capital on wide receivers knowing Arthur Smith has no use for them. As much shit as we give Tomlin, the front office needs a beating for their failures to build an NFL quality WR corps.

3.) Julian Neal 6’2 200 CB Arkansas- I like big corners that can tackle. Good gravy the Steelers’ secondary is a painful watch.

3.) Genesis Smith 6’2 204 S Arizona- Captain of the ‘Cats secondary is a flashy name of late. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen a worse Steelers’ safety unit. Maybe not strike season Cornell Gowdy bad, but they sure suck. ESPN didn’t have a camera with a lens wide enough to show the wide open spaces they were leaving open for Ravens’ receivers. YOU SUCK, Tomlin!

3C) Keionte Scott 6’0 195 CB Miami- Fun, Physical, Chess piece that a creative DC could...never mind.

4.) Ted Hurst 6’3 185 WR Georgia State- Hell no I’ve never seen a Georgia State game, but I do read. I read this EXPLOSIVE weapon will be the talk of the Senior Bowl and a fast riser throughout the draft process. Why did the Steelers draft Roman Wilson exactly? Brutal waste of draft pick.

4C) Dae’Quan Wright 6’4 255 TE Ole Miss- Made some big plays throughout the season for the wildly fun Trinidad Hubbard. Gotta move on from crappy ass Jonnu and Muuuuuth.

5) Aidan Fisher 6’1 235 LB Indiana- First LB in Indiana history to be named 1st team All-American. Man, Hoosier Nation took over the Benz. My transplant hometown Falcons could only dream of a home field advantage like the Hoosiers had tonight here in Atlanta.

6.) Pat Coogan 6’5 310 OG Indiana- Coach Cig is a funny dude. “I’m not thinking about the next game, I’m just thinking about cracking open a beer.” The Steelers would be wise to use free agency to bolster the trenches. No free agent skill player worth a damn would voluntarily sign up to play for the Uncle Artie offense.

6C) Roman Hembry 6’0 208 RB Indiana- Former Terp runs hard. Dig him. Why did the Steelers draft Kaleb Johnson exactly? Another brutal waste of a draft pick.

7.) Nadame Tucker 6’3 250 EDGE Western Michigan- Nations sack leader didn’t play football until his senior year of high school. Will be a buzzy name throughout the draft process.

7C) Dalton Johnson 5’11 200 S Arizona- Reputed big hitter and tone setter of the ‘Cats secondary. Let’s reunite him with teammate Genesis Smith to finish overhauling the beyond awful secondary.

Thanks as always for reading. Please comment on the players you like and those you don’t. I vowed not to write another mock until Tomlin is no longer coach of my once beloved Steelers. Just an exercise in frustration knowing that dude can’t coach or develop a wet fart. BUT, I had some free time tonight watching KC and Smith’s Hoosier’s just molly-wop the Ducks so decided to throw one out there. Congrats on your trip to Miami fellas!

I approve for the 1st 2 picks alone but I think it is a pipe dream that the Steelers would actually take a 0/1 tech let alone take one in the 1st.

Even though we fans think they would do better with a NT, Tomlin does not so they will not be drafted.

Great post - always enjoy your draft mocks.

No QB this year IMO due to many factors, mostly due to Mediocre Mike still being employed.

Would like to get Josh Meredith from Wazzu late in the draft or as a priority UDFA

Mock draft season is upon us.

The only thing we have to look forward to.

I like this one Drama.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

After watching Benton make plays 3 yards deep in the defensive backfield, not sure why they would not consider a real NT but they will not.

Assuming Tomlin comes back next year and assuming he is unwilling (unable) to change then I agree that my guy McDonald is nothing but my own pipe dream.

Should Tomlin evolve or (god willing) not return then the Steelers options for run stopping NT types took a big hit with Oregon’s AMauri Washington taking that Nike money to return to school.

Last draft, they could have thrown a dart at a list of DTs and got a good NT even in the 7th round but they did not. THat is why I do not think they will do it.

Today potentially changes the math on the premise a little bit.

Can I say how much I'm looking forward to the Board Mock this year?
