Heyward Wants New Contract
Heyward Wants New Contract
I thought they reworked his deal last offseason?

If I was the team’s negotiator I’d send his agent cut-ups from the Baltimore playoff loss.
Cam doing what Cam does come January. Nothing.
And his defense follows their leader.

He's almost 37. Pass.
Heyward received a new contract last year when the Steelers signed him to a three-year, $45 million deal. He is scheduled to receive a $12.95 million roster bonus in March 2026 and a $1.3 million salary that season, the final year of his contract.
Fuck him and his demands. The team already gave him a new contract just last year.
Add Boswell to the list of "re-do my contract" players
Boswell is way underpaid for his performance, so that makes sense.
Cam... that's tough. A lot of people didn't want him extended, to start with- but he had a strong season and absolutely performed above expectations.
He likely only has a year or two left in the tank... so I don't blame him for trying to get as much as he can.
PLUS, he's a huge part of the team leadership. I think you have to do something for him
To people saying he folds in the playoffs... That's a narrative that is just not valid
It isn't Cam's or TJ's fault the team sucks at the end of the season- and in the playoffs-
That is a direct reflection of 2 key components
1. The offense does exactly jack shit for most of the season, so the team heavily relies upon the Defense to keep them in games.
This is exacerbated by: Very little quality depth and so limited rotation and very few opportunities to rest. Also, Tomlin's play not to lose strategy puts all the pressure on the defense.
All of this to say- the defenders are all completely worn down by the last 3rd of the season; with almost nothing in the tank.
2. Tomlin's dumbfukery of, my defensive game plan is the exact game plan I've run for the past decade and a half. So there is a total lack of creativity and thus no element of surprise for the opponent lining up against this team, when it comes time to get boat raced in the play offs.

It is, actually, quite easy. He turned 36 this May and he signed 3 year contract last year. No need and no reason to give him new contract.anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 8:01 pmCam... that's tough. The players do what the players do- the coach has to put them in position to be successful.
We have all watched Watt rush the QB from the exact same spot, play after play, game in and game out-
We've all watched the team get torched by opponents running the ball out of 10 & 11 personnel.
This isn't on the players- it's on the coaching staff who can't fucking figure out that they might need more than 2 down linemen to stop the opponent from running up the middle.
Anyway-

Agree.
No one made him sign that contract last season. Live with it, Cam. You are a big boy.
Or hold out. And take your baby brother with you.
Honestly, if he bitches, I hope the Steelers agree to bump his salary up $1,138,806 this season. Then cut Connor.

I’m GM of the Steelers and Suwanee GA’s own Cam Heyward walks into my office demanding a raise or restructure I simply say, “Hold that thought big fella, I’ve got a call to make. This will just take a sec…. Hello Connor? Steel Drama here with the Steelers just letting you know you’ve been released. Have a good day…Ok Cam now what can I do for you?”

Actually that would be some petty shit... but in all seriousness, I'd be leaning to keeping Galbreath at TE and the DJ whatshisname guy as FB over Connor
Everyone wants a piece of that franchise QB money they aren't paying....

Cam doesn't really give a shit about winning, and neither does TJ. Give them their money and watch them come up small in December and January yet again.
I’d be on board with keeping Connor around IF he could actually play FB. He can’t lead block through.anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 10:16 pmI can get on board with that lolCoolShades wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 9:06 pm

And he is way undersized to be a legit TE.
Needs to go IMO.

So, where was the Big Scammer in the Jags PO loss. Scam did 2 things in that game, Jack & Shit. He's a fraud just like his HC Jibba Jabbar. You don't think Aaron Donaldson got double teamed, heck sometimes triple teamed and still made game changing plays. Scam can shove it. The idea that this impostor is a HOF shoo in but HInes Ward is not shows the power of media bullshit hype.

What’s even more hilarious is that apparently Cam has been “holding in” for a while, but no one noticed because they figured he wasn’t going to do anything during camp anyway.Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 12:08 pmThe idea that this impostor is a HOF shoo in but HInes Ward is not shows the power of media bullshit hype.
His agent had to leak the story to Schefter for the word to get out.
If that’s true, that’s got to be a bit of an ego blow to Cam “Ted Kennedy Head” Heyward.
The Steelers pushed out Ward and Troy, two proven winners. Didn’t Ben take a pay cut/restructure his contract at the end so the Steelers could bring in better FA’s? But Cam thinks the Steelers can’t live without him? OK.
Cam is showing who he really is and what he’s always been about. Winning is not exactly high on his list.

When you hear former players on other teams talking about how much more complex and intense it is, really just confirms what we've long suspected. PIT keeps things simple because no one wants to put in the work to master the complex. Even if they tried a different approach in the playoffs, they'd be comically unprepared and end-up with similar results.CoolShades wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 1:51 pmCam is showing who he really is and what he’s always been about. Hopefully the FO takes a stand on this one...sit at home like Levion, Sham!
Next man up!
Next man up!
I came to terms with them signing him last year even though I was against it, and he did play well.
But there comes a time you stopped paying for past performance, and he could fall off a cliff at any moment. He's freaking almost 37 years old.
Fuck this dude.... Especially after the storyline became. Try and win one for Cam and TJ.
Fuck him... He can't read the room, he can sit.

The technically correct thing to do is to move up money from next year to this year. Make him go year to year, but pay him properly for the level of performance. Steelers don't seem to like to do performance based contracts and Heyward probably wouldn't take one, anyway.
The angry fan in me says fuck him. They're not winning shit this year and Heyward deserves as much blame as any player for the playoff drought. He's Tomlin's man in the locker room. A team yes-man with regards to everything but his money.

I loathe the player that pulls the “I played well so deserve more money” or said another way “I outperformed my contract”.
That would fine if they also said “I didn’t perform up to expectations and feel I owe some money back”.
Did Captain Cam ever feel guilty when his ass wasn’t playing at all or playing and not doing shit??
Nope?
He can go kick rocks. Hope he does sit out.

The players are also responsible. Cam couldn't do jack shit against back-up linemen in the 2020 Browns playoff game. These guys couldn't carry Brett Keisel's jock in the playoffs, let alone the true Steelers greats. TJ and Cam will definitely be my least favorite Steelers HoFers.anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 9:00 pmOnce again, I point you to the head coach.Deebo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 8:31 pmI think there are a ton of other people who are capable of leading this team to barely about .500 and another 1st round playoff exitanpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 8:01 pmAdd Boswell to the list of "re-do my contract" players
