Which RB Do You SIt?
If Conner and Samuels are both healthy this week, which RB would you sit? Ordinarily, I'd say Edmunds would be the odd man out, but you know they'll play him just so the three Edmunds Brothers can be on the field in the same game. And Kerrith Whyte has a chance to play opposite the guy he sat behind in college--maybe something to prove? So...

Honestly, Samuels hasn't been that good. It looks to me as though he just can't find that groove. Snell has gone off. Whyte has gone off. Even Edmunds has had some decent rumble into a crowd and fall forward success. Samuels has struggled IMHO to run the ball.

A Meereenese RB knot. I'd probably guess the Steelers figuring is last guy up, first guy down, so they'd probably sit White. If any of the 5 aren't totally 100%, it'll be the one that could use another week. Could point to Samuels, but I'll bet on White.
Not what I'd do, but what I think they'll do. I'd sit Edmunds and go with what I'm seeing as the most talented four.

Samuels last 4 games: better than James Conners average per carry... and has been good as a receiver.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:02 amHonestly, Samuels hasn't been that good. Have to sit players from elsewhere. Have to have enough to backup other positions and fill STs.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:09 amIs there a disadvantage of dressing 5?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 2:58 amIf Conner and Samuels are both healthy this week, which RB would you sit? I am confused. All of them are on the roster now. They have been playing short handed (51 players) bc JuJu and Conner have been out. So why couldn't they all dress and just keep playing the way they have been but now with 53 players?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:40 amHave to sit players from elsewhere. Or are you saying remove one of the RB and bring in someone else as a backup to another position?

And because my usual circle of friends are not sports fans, I come here to learn more. And now that I have more time on my hands, I can follow the Steelers on a deeper level instead of just watching the games.
As for my initial question, is there something I am missing?
Whyte is listed at the KR and 4th RB
Edmunds is listed as the FB
Conners is 1st RB
Samuels is 2nd RB
and
Snell is listed as the 3rd RB
as per
https://www.steelers.com/team/depth-chart/
So why not dress them all?

FYI. There are 53 players on roster but only 46 can be active on game day. It becomes a chess game to decide how to allocate resources. When a few are injured, decisions are easily made for them. But when all are healthy, somebody has to sit and be inactive. Everybody doesn’t always know all the cock eyed rules of the NFL.

Now I understand the issue and indeed the chess analogy.

I love Whyte, but confess it's mostly because he has the speed and short area quickness I though Snell would have! LOL..you can tell I don't follow college FB, I guess. Whyte seems like a steal from someone else's roster and those are always sweet to contemplate.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 2:58 amIf Conner and Samuels are both healthy this week, which RB would you sit? Snell is a hardnosed guy who punishes people and we can use (and have used!) that quality in recent weeks. I voted for Snell to sit but probably Edmunds should be the guy. My Snell prejudice (he is slow and they sometimes run him wide with predictable results) is fading a bit. He's contributed.
Samuels I really like but he's not had the year I thought he would. Still think he'll be a terror in the passing game and will improve his running skills as he gains confidence and experience. Not a bad RB situation with everyone healthy. STill would like to see them find another in the draft but that's another discussion. Enjoying this year a lot, when all is said and done.
This is the Steelers...if everyone is healthy, Whyte is the odd man out.

You can dress all 5 if you like, but your shorting yourself at another position and possibly messing with STs. It might not be a big deal, but an in game injury at the wrong position, you could be screwed.

I voted Samuels for this week since he has a groin or hammy. Next week it would probably be Edmunds. Also we all know the NFL wants all 3 Edmunds on the field this week for PR purposes. They can talk about 3 brothers playing on the same field for the first time in 95 years or what ever it is.

Guys, you do realize Samuels had a slight groin strain in last weeks game, therefore he is Questionable to play, so HE will probably be the odd man out. Also, Vance is still in the protocol, i believe, and did not practice yesterday. I know, all he does is block, really....
Edmunds blows.
This poll is easy as fuck.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
Samuels didn’t practice yesterday due to a groin.
That sort of thing is easily aggravated. Give him the week off if Connor is back.

I feel like you're cherry-picking here. For starters, here are the defenses Samuels has gone up against in those games:bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:39 amSamuels last 4 games: better than James Conners average per carry... and has been good as a receiver.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:02 amHonestly, Samuels hasn't been that good. I think he's the guy who sits this time, though-- not 100%
Cleveland (26th vs the run)
Cincinnati (dead last vs. the run)
Cleveland (26th vs the run and missing their best d-lineman)
Arizona (24th vs the run)
Samuels had a whopping 39 yards on 22 carries in the 2 games prior, and he's a full yard/carry behind Conner for the year.

A little. But I don't think he's been terrible, especially considering running the ball as a straight RB is the worst part of his game.Pabst wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 6:29 pmI feel like you're cherry-picking here. Edmunds is the designated “FB” with the great Rosie Nix sidelined...he isn’t sitting.

plus the NFL wants all 3 brothers on the field this week. So they can write a story about the first time since 1920 something that 3 brothers have been playing in the same game.
I’m sure you’re right about that, but I’m not just talking for the Bills game...he’s going to be active from here on out. Edmunds isn’t sitting, imo. He’s the only one who can play fb, and the brother thing.
If Conner is healthy it’s down to Whyte - who I really like - or snell. (He and Conner are the same role)
Samuels kinda sucks as a runner but is strong out of the backfield as a 3rd down back.

This may well be irrelevant: JuJu was limited in practice. So if he doesn't play, why not have all of them?
Seriously...do we really believe there is a role for 5 RBs in the game plan?
Frankly, I'd like to see more of this Whyte guy back there.

I think it was San Francisco last week that had 3 RBs in the game at the same time. Kind of fun.
