Pats Ownership of the Steelers
Not only did we go out of our way to prevent the Pats from getting Brown (and failed) but we are paying him $21m to play for them.
Art II and Colbert are a fucking joke. Kraft and Belichick continue to clown and outsmart this franchise. We just sit back and take it.
I’ve never been so down on this management group. We need a stronger ownership and front office.

Well if you are all for anarchy, not following the spirit of the CBA, the NFL bylaws, and state and US contract law then you are correct. They are a joke!
But if you have a moral compass that guides your life and organization..........

Well they're going to get away with it so it's a moot point.
I'm tired of losing the right way. I don't watch the Steelers our of a sense of morality. I want them to win. Art II continues to be asleep at the wheel. His father was a winner, he is not.
For 20 years now the Patriots organization have outsmarted us at every turn. Probably moreso in recent history.
There's a blatantly stark difference between the way the franchises are run. Patriots do what it takes to win and Rooney is just happy to collect the ticket and apparel money.

We're eating $21m in cap.

The secret to the Pats success is they have the GOAT at QB who is willing to play at a significant discount and they have enjoyed in the NFL's worst division for 20 years. That's it.
The Pats have had just as many bust FA signings, busted draft picks, and off the field drama as anyone else.

Sure but the success is unmatched. When it’s all said and done likely the greatest dynasty in pro football history and maybe the history of sports (depending on how much credence you give to the other great runs).

When's the last time a team with a crazy, ego-fueled monster diva WR won the SB?

So you're saying adding AB doesn't increase their chances of winning a ring? No doubt AB is the model citizen in NE this season. If the Steelers were supposedly able to control his antics for so long, I'm pretty sure Belichick & Brady can do the same. They have stronger leadership.
Tomlin isn't the leader Belichick is.
Ben isn't the leader that Brady is.
I don't think those two points can be debated.

Isn’t it odd that when the Steelers traded AB to Oakland, it was an outstanding move...had to get him out of the locker room. Incredible talent but he’s, a cancer, poison, can’t win with a guy like this. AB will bomb in Oakland for sure. He’s not really that good anymore. Steelers will be a better team without him, just watch and see.
But now that he’s with the Pats...ohs noes, what a bunch of dumbasses. Pats played the Steelers again. We can’t win now...seasons over. Pats are the super team, they can’t be beat. Fire everyone!!!
Jeezus... lets just play football already and see how everything plays out...ummkay?!?

Just takes a ring this year and the brakes are applied on that argument. At least our division has another team with a couple rings in the same time frame.

Just asking a simple question.
Ask Albert Haynesworth, Chad Ochocinco, Joey Galloway, Adalius Thomas, and others how that Pats leadership changed them.

Believe me. It wasn't me sucking off our front office for trading AB. I wanted them to take a harder line and stick it to him. Instead, Art II flies to Miami to meet Brown and then publicly states that it was best the two sides parted ways probably damaging whatever leverage we had. There isn't a shrewd bone in his entire body. He's never looking 2 steps ahead.
He got played by Antonio Brown who can barely put together a coherent sentence.

Randy Moss, even though they didn't win the ring, put up a historic season and sans a pretty lucky catch they have 7 rings.
LeGarrette Blount goes to New England from Pittsburgh and instantly wins a ring.

It doesn’t seem that the Steelers controlled his antics but rather enabled and hid them to keep him placated. Do you think Belichick is going to do that?

I have no doubt he plays a full productive season in New England unless of course he gets injured. He had 0 respect for Tomlin because he didn't hold everyone to the same standard. He made that very clear.

Still waiting for an answer for my simple question.
And when did Steelers fans become so cowardly?
The rest of you guys can bite your nails, obsess over Boston, and cry about Tomlin/Colbert and whining that the league is fixed. I'm just gonna worry about my Steelers taking care of their business and handling the Browns, Ravens, and Bengals.

And he’ll have zero respect for Belichick. This guy only cares about one thing...AB getting his. I’m assuming that you believe that all this was an act? I don’t buy it. Everything he did in Oakland and all those years with the Steelers is what this guy is. He may try, but he won’t change because he can’t change.
All I know is that this nonsense has sucked some of my enjoyment out of the opener tonight and season in general.
Not because I think we are doomed as lots of things can happen between now and playoff time.
But because these type of shenanigans greatly deteriorate the product as a whole and particularly the integrity of the sport. A player under co tract cannot be allowed to simply become a malcontent and then utilize extremely negative behavior to become a FA.
All the while the team he forces himself off gets stuck having to pay or take the cap hit, lose draft picks all the while the desired destination had it all worked out behind the scenes.
They end up getting the player as a freebie.
Then, the former athlete “experts” that are supposed to bring the type of commentary a non-former player couldn’t possibly bring makes it worse by creating false narratives to chuckle about instead of genuine analysis.
I stopped watching WWF when I was like 11 or 12.
Will stop watching the NFL as well if need be as its quickly becoming an orchestrated event.
Spent a decent chunk of change buying 5 tickets to Raiders/Steelers last season. Was going to do the same this year for Steelers/49ers. Hadn’t got the tix yet because some people wanting to go need to navigate work etc. so I’ve been holding off.
Very likely pulling the plug now. Not feeding this sham with my $$$
May still decide to go as game gets closer but very down on the league as a whole right now.
Deteriorating product on the field and now mixed with WWE type garbage off the field.
Not for me.

Maybe a WR diva hasn't won a ring, but history doesn't predict future results. Antonio Brown makes that WR group a lot better. I know we want to say he's going to go mentally bonkers there, but he won't.
Why shouldn't we be holding Tomlin and Colbert accountable though? They haven't done anything remarkable in 10 years. We're just happy with the status quo.
Of course we obsess over the Pats. Everything in the AFC runs through them. We've been their whipping boy for about 20 years now to boot.

The Bills trade was the key to this whole thing. If you don't give AB notice until the trade is complete, the Steelers get a 1st, Bills clearly would suspend him all year if he didn't want to play vs letting him go to NE. Things would be very different right now.

The problem is it does now appear this was less an natural cancer and more a fabricated series of events to accomplish a goal.

I don’t bet and I don’t use avatars, as you can see. Just expressing my opinion here as are you. I respect your opinion and have no egotistical desire to be right. Just two Steelers fans have a gentlemanly disagreement.
And just for the record, when I made my post regarding the opinions of AB before and after his Oakland release, I wasn’t aiming that at you. If it came across that way, I apologize. I was just joining the conversation.

Haha yeah good call on the no avatar thing!
No disrespect taken, man. We're all on the same team here! I love hearing multiple angles. You may very well be spot on and i'm dead wrong. I absolutely hope you're correct.
I'm just VERY, VERY frustrated with the way this team has been ran the past few years. Very complacent IMO. I just don't think Art II is the right guy to own this team. He's not his father.

They definitely have a problem here. But who's going to stand up to the Pats. They've gotten away with everything they've done over 20 years. This will be no different.
