2 turnovers and a few suspect flags aside we got our asses handed to us in the trenches, both sides of the ball.

I am also guilty of it before the game...Why I say Perch has the hardest writing assignment at the board.

After the game I try to be fair and realistic.

They're going to regret hanging onto Mike Tomlin.

In a major way.

I - watching the Steelers feels like groundhog day at times, an inability to learn from mistakes and to evolve at times.

The Steelers themselves need to realize and accept this, and move on, and try to figure out a way to win the game as it is played now and going forward.

Lets say this team finishes 6-10 with many many holes and question marks about players they extended.

What will they do?

Stay the course.

1) Firing the HC is against the rules

2) The DC is "President for Life" like Fidel Castro

3) The OC is the son of a former buddy, gotta stay loyal

going to?!?!

That regret better hit home soon, because the heart of this team has been atrophying for years.

Welcome to the Steelers of the mid 80's. Ben is the only thing keeping this team from 3-13. They need an infusion of talent. They need to dump some old dead weight and get some top 10 draft picks that pan out.

If you think of Steeler football as pound the rock, then Steeler football is probably dead. But if you think of Steeler football as do-what-you-want-and-make-them-pay, then why should it be dead.

The days I remember fondly are the ones where other teams were afraid to play us, because of what it would do to them not just this week, but next week, and the week after, because of the collisions.

Hines Ward was the only receiver I can remember who LIKED hitting linebackers. Troy, in his prime, was known as a sloppy tackler, because he preferred to just crush people. I loved it in the Superbowl, when James Harrison took out the Cardinals kicker, because he had the audacity to come downfield on a kickoff and try to make a play.

I can remember Joe Green being just fine with taking a strategic 15-yard penalty in order to make a statement—don’t think you’re gonna have a nice day in my yard. Lambert and Russel could have been known as assault and battery. Mel Blount—if the ball is in the air, it’s MINE. Iron Mike at 255, moving people around like blocking sleds. Donnie Shell. DONNIE SHELL!

It’s an attitude that has nothing to do with run-to-pass ratio. And it seems to have died. Too bad. Is it Tomlin? Haley? Is it that LaBeau is old? I dunno.

I would be okay with a season or two around 8-8, if we could restore an attitude that makes people afraid to play this team. But as someone said, I can’t bear bad AND soft. Just cannot bear it.

The only thing keeping this team from it's own success is heart.
They have forgotten how to have the heart of a champion, and if the right attitude were there, the talent would be also.

Mike Tomlin is supposed to be the caretaker of the heart, motivation, and discipline of this team.
Mike Tomlin has failed, over and over and over again.

And I love Ben as much as anyone, but he is 1 of 53.
I just hope he doesn't realize that he alone can't will this team to win, and decide to seek his fortunes elsewhere.

Someone tell me I'm wrong. I was not optimistic heading into the game. What I see on the o line terrifies me. I see only one player that plays with "bad intentions" and really good technique: DeCastro. Everyone else is technician without meanness (Pouncey), fat tubs of goo (Foster, Gilbert), or try hards with limited physical tools (Beachum). The front line is as soft as my four month old's ass. I want to be wrong. Tell me I'm wrong. All those picks, man. It's the biggest problem on offense. Holy Jobu, what could Bell be with a really good line in front of him?

Then this conversation just time warped to 2011.

But here in the present where we've already endured those seasons, I've had enough already!
It's time for this team to put its money where Mike Tomlin's mouth is...

Tomlin has proven to be a phony.

I genuinely liked the guy and the hire.

We've been on this downward trend for far longer than the past two 8-8s.

And it's a shame we couldn't win that SB against the Packers because we aren't sniffing one for a few years.

Best we can hope for is to build a loaded team and Ben has enough left to get it done.

Zero confidence in Tomlin to be able to shop for the right groceries. Praying he can make me eat those words.

Tomlin isn't the "football junkie" he claimed to be when hired.

BTW, we've been outscored 50-9 since halftime last week.

Pathetic.

Perhaps, the manner in which he may have described it didn't always meet the board protocols. But Ron called it right then & now (except about AB), hiring cool John Shaft (aka Mike Tomlin) has led us down the path to oblivion.

What is your infatuation with Ron?

Steelers are 1-1 and not because some racist hairstylists pointed out the deficiencies

Yeah it immediately stuck with me...the expression on his face(not the powda on his nose anymore though) and the cats "typing" skills made it a fitting image for me ...especially at draft time.

Considering Ron once said he was coming to Toronto to tear a family member apart limb by limb - no affection but when we all said that Tomlin was a good choice for HC - Ron outright said we were doomed. I thought he may even have been temporarily banned for using the cool Shaft analogy which was deemed racist but in retrospect was apropos. It's not the 1-1 but how the team presents itself.

Ron is ostracized to some degree on this board because he's his own man that takes his own positions weather they're popular or not.

His post game thoughts are generally pretty accurate. Some of his long-term prognostications have also come to fruition which infuriates those that really want to see him look stupid for taking the risk and laying his opinions out there.

I remember when RON was preaching team "chemistry" a few years back and many on this board absolutely dismissed "chemistry" as an intangible that means little in the bigger scheme of things.

I say ... BULLSHIT. Player personalities that make up "chemistry" is an absolute must on any winning team.

When I think of Steelers football, I think of physical, tough, intimidating defense first. For the most part, those days are over. Its hard to play that kind of defense in this bullshit game today. I give credit to Seattle, they are the closest thing to our style of defense - we are light years away from that and I am not even sure if we are even looking for the same type of players when we scout guys.
