Watching the Penn St. Clemson Mower game and I feel sorry that they need to play on such a crappy field.

I predicted tOSU would be better next year than this year but I did not think they would do as well this year. Losing 18 players to the NFL draft and then still being in the CFNCSteeldrama wrote: ↑Tue Dec 30, 2025 12:31 amAuburn stud receiver Cam Coleman entered the portal

I'm impressed with Mark Gronowski (QB Iowa) Very accurate and a decent arm.

Don't know how high the ceiling but he was great in FCS, right from his true freshman season. Led his team to the championship game and got hurt early in that game.
There's a lot of solid stuff in his game, and he's pretty good at everything. Other than intangibles, he's also not elite at anything. I would bet on him before Klubnik but I'm not sure he'll become an NFL starter of note.

House full of teens watching the finale of Stranger Things so I wasn't dialed in last night.
Today?
Locked in
What I feared going into this season for the Buckeyes was their running game.
Did they have the horses to replace Judkins and Henderson?
Going into last night's game I was worried about Ryan Day calling the plays.
Long layoff
I don't know that Day called a bad game as much as the 'Canes defense is LEGIT
Early on the Buckeye OL was just overwhelmed with the front 7 of Miami coming on like a "Hurricane."
From all I've read, Ruben Bain could be in for a draft day slide.
Ummm
That dude is a PROUD carrier of the coveted "Bad Motherfucker" wallet.
Measurables? Can't measure that dude's intangibles.
Yep
The cliche was this game was to be won in the trenches.
I was duly impressed with the Canes' line play on both sides of the ball.
Mario Cristobal could always recruit, but now he has found some coordinators to make up for his coaching shortcomings.
I ONCE mentioned the name Corey Hetherman.
I said he reminded me of Bill Cowher.
HIGH ENERGY, highly animated dude.
I don't wish anything Mike Tomlin on anybody, but MAN that Hetherman fella can flat out coach. Stunts, twists, PHYSICAL football.
If I'm running a football progrum, college or pro, Corey Hetherman is the first guy I'm calling to coach my defense and one day MY WHOLE DAMN TEAM (easy there hyperbole boy).
Hell yeah the U is back
I caught more shit in high school back in '86 from the faux Penn State "fans" after loudly professing a blowout 'Canes victory.
LOVED Jerome Brown and the SWAGGER of those Jimmy Johnson 'Canes teams.
I was WAY wrong that year, but my guy Michael Irvin and the 'Canes eventually got theirs.
Hell yeah I wanted Carson Beck to get lit up by Arvell Reese and my son's guy Kaleb McDonald, but no it was Bain, Mesidor, and Jakobe Thomas doing his best Bennie Blades impersonation that brought the pain last night.
Should my 'Dawgs squeak by 'Ole Miss today, I CANNOT bear the thought of losing to CARSON FREAKING BECK.
Today?
Rain??
AT THE ROSE BOWL???
For just the 2nd time in 70 years????
It's beyond distracting sitting here watching Game Day crew get soaked on set.
The crew all slobbering over Fowler and Herbstreit now calling the most Rose Bowl games.
Insert puke emoji here
Keith Jackson rules the "Granddaddy of them all"
I will agree with Herbstreit and others that say the Rose Bowl should be the permanent host of the National Title game.
Bucket list trip
Anyway
I'm dialed in today.
*Texas Tech defense is stout, but can they muster enough offense to take out the Ducks?
*Dante Moore?
*Can my Tide find a running game against a tough Hoosier front 7?
*Mendoza?
*Georgia can struggle against dual threat QBs.
*Don't choke, KIRBY!
*Fire Tomlin!!

Was happy not to have the bye last year, didn't want it this year. 25 day layoff between the regular season and a one game, essentially exhibition if you're, say, scUM and Texas? Not a problem. 25 day layover between meaningful football and the national playoffs? A momentum killer of the first magnitude, and the bye team losing streak continues... hopefully someone today can break the 0-5 trend. Not to take anything away from Miami, but my Buckeyes were flat and stale till halftime. The bye and the timing on this thing is a legit issue to address going forward.
I get it, we're trying to make it more NFL-esque, but if the bye came with a 25 day layoff, NFL coaches wouldn't want it, either.

Fully agree, Ice
Insane layoff for the 4 teams with a bye
I believe Dan Lanning one of many who said the playoffs need to be wrapped on January 1st so at least important figures are speaking out
Hopefully someone with a working brain can fix the many issues facing college football including the playoff model

Oregon vs Texas Tech has my two favorite NTs in the draft class.
I wonder if David Bailey could be a Steeler pick. Looks like a OLB

If you're talking about Trinidad Chambliss.

The only issue with Chambliss is his height but it is big for the NFL. Notice they roll him out a lot to give him clear lanes to throw. He is never under center. Other than that he checks all of Bruce Arians' QB boxes EXCEPT height.

I wouldn't be opposed at the right price. He's a full inch taler than Russ Wilson, for example.jebrick wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 2:24 pmThe only issue with Chambliss is his height but it is big for the NFL. I think there's a lot there to work with... but it would require adjusting the offense a little for his skill set to make it work. I don't know that there is a system-transcendent QB in this class, but Mendoza, Moore, & Chambliss can win in the right situation, which is the next best level. Then after that, the very high ceiling of Green & Payton. Then the high floor, low ceiling of Beck, Gronowski, Klubnik et al. Although, I have real doubts that Moore is coming out. So much NIL money available.

I agree to all of this. I do like Chambliss as a passer more than Bryce Young when he came out I would be excited if the Steelers spent a 3rd on him.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 3:13 pmI wouldn't be opposed at the right price. He's a full inch taler than Russ Wilson, for example.

I like Gronowski because there is less you have to teach him but he might be at his ceiling.

This why I say: the answer to "which QB should the Steelers draft?" is radically different depending on who is the HC, what is the offensive philosophy, and who is developing the QB.jebrick wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 3:16 pmI agree to all of this. Just venting here...
Gunner Stockton= GAMER
Dude is soooo TOUGH
Trinidad Chambliss= HOUDINI
Dude is soooo EXCITING
Sadly for me, BOTH my teams shit the bed yesterday but at least the Georgia loss was an entertaining football game...the only REMOTELY entertaining game of the day.
Ole Miss wanted the game more than Georgia.
It was evident by the 70-30 pro Rebel crowd at Kirby's now house of horrors the Sugar Bowl
Kirby was outcoached by Pete Golding...PETE FREAKIN GOLDING! The WORST DC ever to set foot on the Bama Campus.
But it wasnt really Golding.
He rode a HOT QB and a TREMENDOUS crowd
No Kirby lost because of...wait for it...
....NEPOTISM
Kirby promoting his best friend...the BEST MAN...at his wedding to offensive coordinator after Todd Monken bolted for the Ravens RUINED the Georgia contending for National Titles.
FIRE Mike Bobo to the sun!
Kirby won't
Ohhh he's got the balls to call fake punts
But he doesn't have the balls to fire his best friend.
Anyway
Whiny Southerner that I now am, MY TEAMS, Georgia and Alabama are in for a fall.
If they can't OUTCOACH their opponent, they will have no chance to win National Titles
Kirby gave a preview of that yesterday
He doesn't have the depth OR ELITE talent he had when he won back to back Natties.
WORSE
He doesn't have ELITE coaches.
Bobo and Schumann shit the bed last night
Both need to be fired
Neither will
Kirby is from the Saban tree.
Recruiting ELITE talent and STACKED rosters win titles.
That era of football is long gone
These kids today want PAID NOW
Promises of an NFL career and natties matter not
It's the RIGHT NOW
Whatever coach cuts the biggest check gets the biggest talent.
The Georgia model of NIL is to pay the veteran players.
They're out on 5 star talent they USED TO recruit because it goes against their NIL model.
Their elite facilities and recent run of drafted talent is not the carrot it was just 3 years ago.
Nope
My teams are out
They're about to fall somewhere to the middle of the pack.
I had my run with Saban and back to back Natties with Kirby
I enjoyed a World Series with the Braves.
It's over
They're not nearly as stale as YOUR Steelers
But much like YOUR Steelers
You can't remain complacent
Gotta keep evolving with the times or you become STAGNANT.
So we're down to 4
All 4 coaches are from the NICK SABAN coaching tree (tomlin? you plant that tree yet? Cocksucker).
Certainly not the 4 I thought would be there in the end.
I respect the turnaround of the arguably the worst program in college football, but I can't stand Curt Cignetti.
The looks on that angry, SMUG, cocksucker's face on the sideline annoy the ever lovin shit of me.
I can't stand Lambo lovin Carson Beck
So can't root for the 'Canes.
Dan Lanning a bit of a strange cat but I'm ok with a Ducks Natty.
Pete Golding is a gawd awful football coach, but I think I'm going with Ole Miss the rest of the way.
That fanbase is rallying HARD around that team instead of folding after Kiffin bailed on them.
Go Hotty Toddy!

I think I'm right there with you, Drama. For one, even as a B1G guy, I want to keep watching Chambliss play football as long as he's delivering that kind of juice. It's been Oregon's turn seemingly forever, so much so that here's Cristobal coaching at the U and it still hasn't happened. It'll be fun watching Miami's D-line wreck shop against a team that isn't mine (both Pitt and the Bucks this year
), but I worry that Tomlin's draft boner for Carson Beck will grow with every completion, so, not Miami. Indiana? With apologies to our resident Hoosiers, it's pretty boring, mechanical football.
So, while my head says it's probably IU vs The U, with IU likely winning the whole thing, I'd love for it to be Ducks vs. Rebs in a thoroughly entertaining toss-up. Hell, give the win to Lanning and Co. and my conference loyalty is satisfied, too.

I honestly think Oregon has the worst shot to win the title. Miami has the best OL/DL, Indiana has the best QB and skill guys, Mississippi has the best overall talent... Oregon is a really good team, deserves to be in the final 4... but if Texas Tech had even marginal offense, Lanning is thinking about recruiting right now. I think Georgia was way better than Oregon in this round.Ice wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 7:54 pmI think I'm right there with you, Drama. Going to be a really great semifinal round... Likely Indiana and... WTF knows from the other two? Chambliss might be the antidote to Miami's pass rush; Ole Miss athletes on defense might be enough to rattle Beck (the Hurricanes' Achilles Heel). Take the points.
