No fucking quit in these boys.
Seems like they've solved a pretty big portion of the puzzle. But that may still not be enough when you're down 3-0.
They honestly played rather well defensively, I thought.
At least one of the goals given up was a softie.
I'm not enough of a goalie expert to say whether the goal that snuck just inside the post off the deflection was soft or not.
Part of me wants to say Silovs shouldn't have given that up short side, even with the deflection.
But another part of me says that Silov knew he had heavy traffic and a screen on his left side and was favoring that side because of it, leaving that gap that the puck found.
Either way, we're onto what should be a crazy game 6.
Like Jeems said....one game at a time.

Penn gave up almost nothing defensively in the third period... very similar to the third period of game four once the Flyers had narrowed the lead to one goal

The second goal was tipped, which absolves Silovs a bit, but the more concerning thing about that sequence was how bad the Pens were in their zone leading up to the goal. It was a long shift and guys were gassed, but that was one you saw coming about 30 seconds before following several turnovers and poor clearing attempts by the Pens.
First goal was completely inexcusable by Silovs.
I’m still rolling with Silovs. When you are down 3-0 and you win two straight I think you go with the hot hand.

Read a tweet today that pointed out that the Pens have adjusted in these last two games by pushing the puck up the ice as quickly as possible to prevent the Flyers from getting into position and stacking the blue line like they did the last two games.
It didnt register with me while watching the games, but makes a lot of sense. I think it also explains why I've often seen D-men carry the puck deep into the Flyers zone. Instead of wasting time passing it off to a forward to carry in, they're just putting their head down and getting entry as quickly possible.
Kudos to Muse for making that adjustment, if that's all true.

Yes I think we have figured the Flyers out, BUT...as we saw yesterday, the margin is razor thin.Louis Lipps Service wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 4:14 pmRead a tweet today that pointed out that the Pens have adjusted in these last two games by pushing the puck up the ice as quickly as possible to prevent the Flyers from getting into position and stacking the blue line like they did the last two games.

We outworked them and held them down, especially in the third period...and only won because of a crazy carom off the end board.
The 3-0 hole is now 3-2, but the last two will be tougher than ever, and the hole might be too big to overcome.
But one game at a time...
