Steelers GM expects James Harrison to return

"Jack Lambert is mean and relentless wherever he goes, on and off the field! I do remember many times he would chase me in practice, but no way would I let him catch me" - Franco Harris

Colbert also speaking in tongues ala keeping free agents

Linebacker James Harrison isn’t the only member of the Steelers with an expiring contract that the team would like to have back for the 2016 season.

General Manager Kevin Colbert said Tuesday that the Steelers are in “pretty good” shape under the cap in relation to previous seasons and that there won’t need to be big changes to the roster in order to get the cap in shape for free agency. Once March 9 does arrive, Colbert says that the Steelers will stick to their usual script and focus on keeping players already on their roster.

“We want to stay the course, as best we can, with our own guys,” Colbert said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “If there is a guy on the outside who makes us better, we’ll plug him in. But our big play is keeping our own.”

The secondary is one area where the Steelers have several players set for free agency. Cornerbacks William Gay, Antwon Blake and Brandon Boykin and safeties Will Allen and Robert Golden can all hit the open market. Colbert said the team will give consideration to bringing all of them back while tackle Kelvin Beachum, defensive tackle Steve McLendon and guard Ramon Foster round out the group of impending free agents on Pittsburgh’s roster.

The fact this move is celebrated exposes the bigger issue.

Glad he's back for one more though.

It's nice to make a final run with James and also like to see him get the steelers sack record.

True but hopefully he can get all those guys back in the gym with him even sooner this off season. I'd still like to see him move right into a strength and conditioning role after he stops playing. Who are those guys going to listen to more than James? Nobody can bring experience and respect to that job.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

From Harrison's social media accounts:
