who do we move to left? this kid or fautanu or do we keep cook there and this kid is just swing seems like a weird 1st pick but i spose all their preferred targets were gone? idk just wish we drafted an olineman to play his position of comfort ...especially in 1st round. having said that i hope he is an anchor in the line for yrs to come and building a nice nest for the future qb is the way.

also, i heard he was a goalie his whole life in the soccer net until they ruled being a 6'6" 321lb goalie that runs a sub 5 40 to be cheating so he hasnt rly played rt for very long, maybe his habits arent set in stone making a transition easier

Did I hear the Steelers were on the phone with Lemon when the Eagles traded up?

I said it earlier in one of the draft threads but I like them focusing on the oline. Remember how dominant the run game and oline was when Ben took over? Even if Rogers comes back, we're going to have a young QB soon. A dominant, young oline in front of him will make his chances of succeeding go way up. Plus, old man Rogers would benefit with a solid oline as well. No one wants to see a replay of what they did to Ben at the end. I hope they go LG in the 2nd.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Whether he got played or not, calling the guy you are going to pick before you are even on the clock is stupid. Says a lot about the intelligence in the room imo. Hoping that being forced to pick someone else and that being a talented OT will turn out in our favor. Plus, I'm not ready to write off Wilson. I'll need to see what a season of new and hopefully better coaching does for the kid. Coaching matters.

Lemon is a headcase. Didn’t even bother trying to be a normal human being.

That doesn’t mean they needed to pick this guy.

Brod Jones leaves and Anchor takes his spot.

Hoping Fat Mike has better luck with O line prospects.

Absolute failure handling their 1st rd selection

Max better work out and work out well

Man did we get played

12 picks, hosting the event and you do nothing and then panic

Horrible look

Feel bad for the fans there that had to convince themselves the Steelers made a great pick

Going to bed pissed the fuck off

I had the Steelers going OT with Freeling in the mock contest..

And them needing to move up to grab him..
Moving up two picks would have cost what?
Their lowest of three 3rd round picks?

I had the same thought. And coming to Pittsburgh would be a worst case scenario for a dude like that.

I know everyone is going to crown the Eagles for jumping in front of us to "steal" him, but we were getting our asses sucked a few years ago when we jumped the Jets to steal Broderick.

Didn't panic at all. I doubt in most projections they even had Lemon available at 21. Pretty sure most of their plans involved not having the option to get him at 21.

There was the shock of the Eagles and the Lemon pick followed by the relative silence/confusion of the Iheanachor pick.

As expected, the vast majority of us immediately left and gummed up the subway operations.

And I know this happens mostly everywhere, but man are there assholes during a mass event. Not something used to.

"So long Broderick Jones!"

Nope. Brod Jones2 Electric Boogaloo, the sequel.

So the solution to a project that didn't pan out is another project?

Exactly. Then, panicked, scrambled, call it whatever. Going from sprinting to the podium to taking 7mins 15 seconds for you to put the pick in looks bad.

OR ....

They might have the semblance of an actual plan in place to make the OL into a strength again.....Ya could even call it a foundation boys and girls ;)

Everyone saying they panicked and didn't know what to do and that's why it took so long to get the pick "in" lol. How do we know the pick wasn't in right away and the reason for the delay was the production had to get everything ready for...

THE FUCKING FIVE MINUTE STEELER, HOMETOWN OF THE DRAFT, LIGHTS GOING OFF AND ON EVERYWHERE, THUNDERSTRUCK, RENEGADE VIDEO MONTAGE?

Are television producers really going to show "The pick is in" before all of that?

Apparently McCarthy has a penchant for drafting tackles and playing them across the line.

The packers had 4 tackles and a center

McCarthy truly lines up the best 5 guys

So it’s possible they intend to move him inside.

Also, I’m so glad the eagles took lemon. That kid is as smart as a sack of hammers

LoL, of course not. “The Steelers are on the clock” changing to “the pick is in” took 7:15 seconds. Like the 20 picks before them, after the hoopla production, commercials, announcements etc, then the pick is announced. Felt like a panic pick being ill prepared.

They needed to add OL with capability of playing inside and out—just like Fautanu. Even if cook keeps the starting job, they had no swing tackle to dress on game days.

Anderson at guard I don’t love but even that with cook as swing tackle is fine.

Not in love with the pick.

All 3 players I thought they’d have high grades for and look to draft gone before 21.

Wasn’t really surprised to see Lemon fall that far but didn’t expect a team trading in front of us for him.

Fano going to the stains infuriating, Ioane going to the rats even more enraging but, that’s the way the ball bounces.

I’ll certainly root for this kid to succeed and excel as I do for every young man wearing the Steeler jersey.

To me Max had a much lower grade due to late exposure to the game of football. 859 snaps at RT though….

Where is Max playing? He played RT in college so I’m guessing we see some Oline shuffling? Max RT…, Fautanu LT?

So we can expect a Receiver is drafted today. @53 or later is the question.

The Other positions like Secondary, Off Ball Linebacker…..

I’ll bet anyone here that Iheanachor is a better NFL player than Freeling 3 years from now. Freeling a ton of mental mistakes and Inheanachor has better technique/feet.
