Day 2 and beyond

Have the Steelers shot their wad?
Are they done making any moves of relevancy?
Any remaining FA names you are targeting for your beloved Steelers?
I went into free agency wanting Jauan Jennings, Leo Chenal, and Jaquan Brisker thinking they would fill immediate needs and fit cheap A$$ Rooney’s budget requirements.
All 3 still not signed.
Nick Cross of the Colts is a safety I think the Steelers should be looking at.
Kaden Ellis is a really solid LB from the Falcons
DJ Reader of the lions could fill a run stopping role.
Did the Vikings release Javon Hargrave yet?
Nickel Corner: I know the Steelers paid Asante Samuel Jr, but there’s a reason he was sitting on his couch until week 10. I’d look at the cost of Roger McCreary or Kader Kohu.
Offensive line still a huge need:
Do the Steelers sign an OT? Rasheed Walker and Braden Smith will be overpaid.
Wyatt Teller, Brady Christensen, and the versatile Jamaree Sawyer could be hole fillers until a stud is found via the draft.
Quarterback the big question. Aaron, Kirk, and little Kyler still floating around out there.
Does Kyler come as cheap as Tua?
All I know is Will Howard starting could triple my allotted golf budget.

If we can't foist Queen, I can't see them going after Chenal. I'd have taken whatever Jerrah offered then gotten Leo done.

Fully Agree Ice.
Thinking this was the motivation behind the Holcomb resigning in case they miss the opportunity.

I believe Spencer is penciled in at LG but…. If they’re scouring F/A for IOL there’s a couple worth looking at, Dylan Parham or David Edwards.

I mean, Queen was a FA signing. He didn't cost us any draft capital, why even bother haggling? Am I missing some reason why this wasn't dumb?

I think there is one more big shoe to drop before the draft.
I could see DK and/or Highsmith being moved. If I had to prioritize one I'd deal Highsmith as he is both more valuable and more easily replaced (Herbig). Highsmith might garner a 2nd or 3rd. DK's value has plummeted imo - maybe it would be a PIttman type of deal. No chance the Steelers get back the 2 they gave up for him.
Maybe Dallas would like to take both Queen and Highsmith off our hands . . .

Correcting the mistake they made last year?

Leo Chenal is a Redskin
3 yrs 24.75 mil
I’m still holding out hope for a Jaquan Brisker signing

Cameron Heyward, set to turn 37 in May, has agreed to a new two-year deal with the Steelers worth $32.25 million, source confirms. The first year is guaranteed.
The move keeps Heyward in Pittsburgh through the 2027 season and frees up about $5.5 M in cap space.

Quite the day 2
A punter and sCam milked more money out of Deuce.
At least the Ravens lost half their team to free agency thinking they had Crosby

I wouldn't deal Highsmith. Both he & Herbig have misssd games, so good to have at least one healthy, and when all healthy, having all three top OLBs on the field, sending Herbig up the middle has been effective.
And, I think it's undeniable that Highsmith has been very good when healthy. Keep him!

Cross off safety F/A.
Now THIS is the typical Steelers FA signing I've come to expect.
Darnell Savage?
Over Jaquan Brisker or Nick Cross??
Hot garbage
K-H-A-N (he's not a hot dog) can say he patched a hole before the draft.
The fuck he did.
Savage played in exactly 12 games last season for 3 teams (Jax, Wash and Buf) and did exactly NOTHING for any of them.
Safety very much in play on day 1 or 2 of the draft in dahntahn Pittsburgh.
AWFUL signing, AWFUL

Same old making big trades like they are on the cusp of the SB, retaining old vets, doing dick in FA with these little signings. Keeping on the path of mediocrity

Jesus Patrick Queen is overpaid. he's on an avg salary of $13.67M
Steelers might have the most overpaid LB, most overpaid EDGE, and most overpaid WR. This is not a good situation.

I'm wondering if I'm going to be happy as a Buckeye fan and mildly disappointed at use of resources as a Steeler fan at some point earlier than 21 on Thursday night.

But they'll have the cheapest QB room!
For some reason it seems to take the Steelers yeeeeaaarrss to fill obvious holes. Have they had an ILB that's better than league average since Shazier? They are now 3-4 years into having a shitty WR corp. They went 10 years without a decent punter. Any chance they can find a NT or Safety this decade?
I guess this is what happens when you have a team that prides itself on building via the draft but loses it's draft mojo.

It's way too much money for one position group. Herbig is the future here, so they better pay him and get him snaps. The smart thing would have been trading TJ at or near his peak and riding with Highsmith and Herbig, but that opportunity has obviously passed.
Good news is that Sawyer looks like a competent all around player and very capable as an OLB3 and, 1 dimensional veteran edge pass rushers are generally available.
At least see what you can get for Highsmith . . .

Like most of what they've done except signing Cam, at first was disappointed in loss of Gainwell, but they have a good replacement
I don't understand what they do with 12 picks, at this point they should consolidate that to 7 or 8

100%. Lots of mediocre on this team. Doesn't help to add a bunch more. Move up and get difference makers and/or swap 26 picks for 27 picks to get ammunition for a QB

Also if you pick 12, only half will make the team. So what's the point?
You can't move up much numerically with late pick swaps but combining the two 3s and 4s to go up into the 2nd or early 3rd makes sense.

Why? Why can't all 12 make the roster if they're better than the guys already there? How are people bitching about the talent level of this team, and then turning around and saying "12 draft picks can't make the roster!!!!"
You have maybe 30 "regular" players, plus your 3 STs. By my math, that's AT LEAST 18 guys that have to earn their roster spot every year.
If I bundle 3 picks together to move up in the 5th, are the odds of finding a contributor really better than drafting 3 guys late?
If you want to rebuild a roster, you throw as many picks as you can get at as many positions as you can. If you're 1-2 guys away from competing for a SB, then you package picks together to get your guy.
