No Mo Jonnu
Great news. Any late round or undrafted JAG could provide the meager stats Smiff did.
That was an Arty Smiff move
Very glad Fed-Ex trust fund boy is gone. Hopefully the pointless revolving door of personel rotation left with him.
FO- Pat Friermuth is so important we need to extend him at $50 million.
Jibbs & his buddy Arty Smiff: Ya but we still gotta find a way to get Jonnu and lil bro Heyward on the field.

Not excusing Smiths performance in relation to his salary but the offense was an abortion last year. He may thrive in another environment.
I do not need to see Jonnu Smith lining up as a running back ever again.

Thank God. He was never worthy of anything other than a cringe while in a Steelers uniform.
Absolute dud.
Disappointment
Waste

He’ll sign in LA or Detroit or Seattle or somewhere where they actually know how to run a professional offense
I’m no fan of Jonu Smith, but the Tomlin lower case u offense is death for tight ends

Jonnu "Ladarius" Smith, we hardly knew ye...
Maybe he can sign with THE Ohio State University?
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

I will never understand the re-signing Friermuth and the signing Smith and using neither effectively. I do not think that Friermuth is anything special and will never forgive the front office for NOT drafting Creed Humphrey instead…but Friermuth was effective in the offense prior to Smith taking the reigns.955876 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2026 2:41 amGreat news. Heyward the lesser should be released and hopefully Team Nepo Era is coming to an end now that Tomlin is gone.
In fact I wouldn’t care if all three were cut….and just start over….

Never liked coordinators and assistants bringing their buddies from former teams. Usually turned out to be duds on both sides of the equation. Almost as bad as Tomlin’s draft crushes from eight years ago.

He is a player—much like Roman Wilson—who needs manufactured touches. By that I mean, a creative coordinator can put him in spots where he can succeed within certain parameters. But in basketball terms, he can’t create his own offense.
By the way, Jonnus stats were just about the same in 2025 as what he did with Art Smith in TEN & ATL. It just wasn’t up to the level he had in MIA. Illustrates my point above.

The Steelers 2025 offense was one of the strangest that I can recall.
They had almost zero multiple threat guys:
- DK can run fast in a straight line, but his hands are bricks and he can't run routes
- Austin can run fast I think (I don't really remember him blowing by guys)
- Jonnu needs designed YAC plays
- Muth can catch but can't block
- Washington can block but is clunky going out for passes
- Heyward can perform the tush push and various gadget plays
- A QB who can't move
- not a single WR who can highpoint a pass
It's surprising in retrospect that they did as well as they did

Jibba was a master of having a bunch of round holes on his roster with only square pegs by to fill them.lifelongsteel wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2026 8:56 pmThe Steelers 2025 offense was one of the strangest that I can recall.
