If they win a Super Bowl I'll never advocate to fire Tomlin or criticize them again. It would in fact to a large degree validate the very decisions I've criticized.

I mean, I'd actually trade 10 years of mediocrity (or worse) for a Super Bowl. It's not happening, but I find this argument strange.

Super Bowls are hard and rare. Yea, it reinforces the things we perceive to be wrong with the team and coaching, but if they actually did it? It kind of invalidates those criticisms to a large extent.

This whole thread is blatantly irrational.

But again...the criticisms I and many others have of the Tomlin regime means that we fundamentally don't believe Tomlin CAN do it let alone that he will.

For this team to win a playoff game, much less a super bowl, with this coaching staff, would require a wholesale change in philosophy from the head dipshit


I'm convinced his "we do what we do" strategy is a reflection of two things

1. He's not creative enough or skilled enough as a coach, to design and implement unique game plans tailored to attack individual opponent's weaknesses.
As evidence:
Recall the top secret 2 point plays he held on to for an entire season, because he didn't want to give future opponents any insight, even when the team needed goal line and short yardage plays.

He almost always has the team come out in the standard run run pass structure, and only makes offensive adjustments at half time. Even then, the adjustments are, in general, minor and not frequent.

2. This allows the chief dunce to spend less time and effort.

Tomlin's strength as a coach is his relationship with the players, who do generally seem to like and respect him. I think we all recognize this.
His weakness is a seeming unwillingness to spend the time or energy in designing and implementing an actual game plan.

How many players have left the team, and called out this staff for their remedial methods and system..

I suspect- this is a function of willingness, and not ability. I don't think Tomlin is dumb. In fact, I think his game day strategy is likely what he would refer to as: "Work smarter, not harder" I'm fairly convinced, he thinks that by rolling out his dumb shit, game after game, and letting the opponent go through the time and effort at making changes, allows him freedom and flexibility. That this is his version of "work smarter"


Anyway- for this team to win a playoff game and definitely a super bowl, would require Tomlin to drop this methodology, and actually create an attacking game plan, unique to the opponent.

Barring that, we'll see the standard boat racing- because every opponent knows exactly how this team will line up in the first half.

But not to worry, Tomlin still has those top secret 2 point plays in his pocket.

I stated preseason timeframe I thought Tomlin would be done this year. Then I realized I misunderstood his contract. Two more years but I really think if we crash and burn he’s done this year. I can’t actively root for losses but if we lose I just try and find it as a positive that it should help sway the needle to Fraudlin fucking off to anywhere but here. My Homer glasses want to believe this sliver of hope we could win the SB. It’s not impossible. I do also think it’s absurd and no fucking way it happens.
