1 Derrick Harmon DE
Really warming to this pick particularly given the double up with Black later
2 DK Metcalf WR
Old and super expensive WR for a team that’s willfully clueless about offense, QBs and WRs while at the same time easily has the worst QB unit in the NFL. Hopefully he shows out big for several years. I just don’t see it
3 Kaleb Johnson RB
In round 3 it’s hard to bitch. I would’ve preferred others. He’s a solid player though who is built for ground and pound. Unfortunately this pick goes to a unit that remains yet again understaffed and underpowered. I could feel a lot better about this pick had they doubled up
4 Jack Sawyer OLB
So many players I would’ve rather had. I really hate try hard type players who lack explosion numbers or outlier traits. Some like him. Hopefully they are right.
5 Yahya Black NT/DE
Has a lot of room for improvement performance wise but has impressive build. College play has been up and down and I think better options were available. If he becomes a reliable wave player early I guess it’s a good 5th round pick. Still need at least two starter quality adds on the DL. Can’t unload Heyward and Benton fast enough imo

My “after the fact” attempt.
1.21 Derrick Harmon DT
“Position-versatile building block that makes moving the football a much tougher task”
Not much pass rush there but could be developed and schemed like Heyward to get into the backfield.
3.83 Savion Williams WR (B2B’s guy)
“Developmental wideout who offers an alluring blend of physical gifts and untapped potential”
With the WR room currently in Pittsburgh this prospect offers intriguing potential especially in light of Pickens unhappiness.
4.123 Joshua Farmer DT
“Broad-shouldered interior defender worth consideration as a 3-4 end or a 4-3 interior lineman”
He was interviewed as one of their official 30 visits and was likely seen at nose moving Benton outside to DE.
5.164 Miles Frazier OG
“Four-year starter who classifies as a physical short-area guard with satisfactory height, weight and length”
Was hoping he was their pick at 156. RG of the future. A mauler that pulls well and second level lead blocking solid.
6.185 Will Howard QB
“Howard brings outstanding size and toughness to the table. He showed good improvement over the last three seasons. He is more a vessel of the play-caller than a playmaking talent, though.”
Wouldn’t change this selection. Solid value for the potential alone. Championship winning QB with solid intangibles but on the older side.
7.226 Brashard Smith RB
“Undersized running back who transferred from Miami and switched positions from wide receiver.”
Able to run WR routes while eluding would be tacklers Smith also can contribute on ST’s as a potential returner.
7.229 Fadil Diggs Edge
“Diggs has the versatility to play edge in odd or even fronts and his measurables are favorable.”
A project for development Diggs is capable of earning a living as pass rusher. Traits and athleticism are there.
