Rodgers might be the "reset" button we need
If Rodgers comes here, along with the fortune we've paid to Metcalf, he may end up blowing up NHALS and the team along with it, just like he did to the Jets. Just a thought that he may be enough of a disruptor to end Tomlin's reign of terror.
He comes here, the team struggles, he starts spouting off publicly, throwing other players and coaches under the bus, and eventually the GM and ownership...
Thoughts?

May end up blowing up his other Achilles. Nah.
Hope for an All Pro OL.

There’s ‘black’ got money and fame drama…then there’s the ‘white’ version.
The ‘white’ version is WAY worse. In the ‘black’ version great players feel disrespected. In the ‘white’ version…great players just don’t care. …AT ALL.

I'm hoping for mass chaos regardless of the QB this year.
Only way to get heat on Tomlin

Hopefully he signs here, is absolutely awful, and are we are really, really bad in a LOUD way if you get what I'm saying.
But that's pretty much what we reasonably need. Not to be tied down to failures like Fields or Darnold. Just get a one year deal with some old dude who can carry the water and keep drafting QBs until you find the next guy.

Should the Steelers get super, duper lucky and "find the next guy," how can we have any confidence that Tomlin and his dopey coaching staff will develop him?!tbsteel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 8:22 pmHopefully he signs here, is absolutely awful, and are we are really, really bad in a LOUD way if you get what I'm saying.

I don't know where people get this notion that Rodgers is some crazy malcontent. Even with Mike McCarthy, he kept whatever negative opinions he had behind closed doors.
This is all pure fantasy with no real connection to reality.

This is what happens when you draft a small handed loser as the next franchise QB and continue to do whatever it takes to achieve NHALS.
Set us back 5-7 years, maybe more.

Are we really being "set back" when the entire team goal is to always achieve NHALS?Orangesteel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 8:56 pmThis is what happens when you draft a small handed loser as the next franchise QB and continue to do whatever it takes to achieve NHALS.

Goal #1 be good
Goal #2 be interesting.
Steelers are at least going to be interesting.

Rodgers is most definitely a "win-win" situation. If by some miracle he turns back the clock a bit, we get a little excitement and maybe a run. (Unlikely I know.). If however it's a disaster, then that is a huge win. We tank...Tomlin is on the ropes or out...and we draft very high in a good QB draft.
A short Rodgers deal is the best things for this org right now. Wasting long-term $$$ on multiple year deals with Russ would suck.

This is where I’m at
Rodgers on the Steelers makes his appearances on McAfee must see TV
See if he’ll unload on Tomlin and the Steelers when the season goes off the rails
Still
Id throw a draft pick at the Patriots for Joe Milton
Kid has an absolute canon
Moonballs to Metcalf and Pickens would be a fun watch
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
This is exactly why I think Rodgers ends up with the Giants and Russ is back in Pittsburgh.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 9:57 pmThis is where I’m at

Cool Shades is no moron. Russ is a sweetheart of a guy, loves Tomlin and will always be respectful.
Rodgers just got his coach fired and it wasn't the first time.
No way Tomlin signs off of Rodgers coming to Pittsburgh.
Milton, I agree wholeheartedly, the Steelers should go after hard.
I just wonder what kind of pick the Pats might want for him? It's not like Drake Maye is a sure thing.

Russ probably fits the offense better than Rodgers with Pickens and Metcalf. Russ has an elite deep ball, though he doesn’t do much else well. Pickens and Melcalf only really run the deep routes well. If they draft a stud RB, the offense could work. Defense have to risk getting beat deep or getting run on.
Steelers badly need a NT, DE and RB in the draft.

If they did his Achilles should be good. If they didn’t who knows. Might be out there pushing a sled in July.
I never saw so much blame for an assistant coach, when we have had Canada and our crappy running game.

Florio is reporting that a deal could be in place with Rodgers as soon as Tuesday. I think people who think Tomlin is scared of Rodgers are underestimating just how arrogant he is and how much control he has over the organization. He knows he's not going anywhere until he wants to leave. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been assured of as much behind closed doors.
I think he's going to be the guy.
It'll be interesting. I'll be far more interested than I was to see Russell Wilson or Justin Fields. I think his demise is slightly exaggerated.

Signing an old washed up qb hell yes whatever hastens Nhals departure. I would of bet they wouldve gone all out to sign Fields.

Coach Mike wants a safety blanket to use if/when the SHTF. Rodgers would be perfect.

Florio is saying he heard the Steelers offered Rogers two years 90 million with 40 million guaranteed. God I hope he is wrong. That's insane.
