Patrick Surtain wins DPOY

And with that....TJ Watt will likely, never win the award again.

His best days are behind him, imo.

And....fuck him for not valuing winning championships and settling for Jibbs road to nowhere. If Watt had any football integrity, he would ask for a trade, but he's bought into the Tomlin Cult.

His crashing in and tackling the ballcarrier that didn't have the ball wasn't enough to seal the deal?

I am surprised.

I'm sure Art is sitting in his chair mostly motionless taking in the news and then immediately forgetting it.

"Ah well, you gawta look at the totality of his career with the Steelers and what he means to the city and how he has kept the tradition going and how beloved he is by the fans because of what he means to teh team and how the younger players look up to him"

I see the Vikes HC got HC of the year, that's pretty funny, same with Josh Allen getting MVP.

Nothing for Sirianni, Mahomes or Hurts?

Is the FF Peter King still voting on this bullshit?

Agree 100%. Unfortunately, TJ's best days are behind him. Should have traded him a couple weeks ago. Belicheat always said to trade a player a year early instead a year late. Could have gotten maybe a 1st & 3rd.

I didn't pay attention to Surtain either but when I read the press release last night I went "Huh? That a DPOY season?"

Not saying TJ deserved it - his numbers for the season as a whole were decent but not great, thanks to basically no significant numbers over the last few weeks of the season. Still his 11.5 sacks, 4 passes defended , 61 tackles and 6 forced fumbles seems like they would have had a bigger impact than Surtain's 4 INTs + 1 forced fumble, 46 tackles, 11 passes defended and 0 sacks. Hell Beanie also had 4 INTs, 45 tackles & 7 passes defended and he didn't play anywhere near as many snaps as Surtain.

When I look at the overall D stats, it seems like Hendrickson should have won it with 17.5 sacks, 45 tackles, 6 passes defended and 2 forced fumbles.

Maybe, like last year when Garret won it with significantly lower stats than TJ, there's some made up PFF stat that says Surtain should have won it, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what that would be.

I'm not upset at all that TJ didn't win but I am totally confused as to why Sutain did. Perhaps one of our esteemed Fury analysts can explain it to me. :?

I thought Zach Baun or Chris Jones should have won... but Surtain had a really good year. Gave up only 306 yards... all season! That's 19 yards per game that he played.

I'm sure it came down to his PPF numbers
