Do it again draft. Again. Except this time for real. Again

1. Omarion Hampton RB NC State
Guaranteed Steelers pick. Huge hole at the only offense the Steelers value. Obviously they do the most obvious thing and take a RB in the first. Again.
2. Deone Walker DL Kentucky
The Steelers scouting department is about 5-7 guys who watch their favorite college team on Saturday and text each other what a “beast” some player is after he makes a play against a future UPS worker. Bonus points because Kentucky is a day trip destination.
3. Jalen Milroe QB Alabama
It wouldn’t be a Steelers draft without a WTF pick with plenty of great talent on the board. Milroe is gonna fall on draft day and the Steelers war room has is gonna go crazy because “…. they had him in the first round ….”. Good thing the Steelers know the QB position better than the entire rest of the NFL
4. Ricky White III WR UNLV
Steelers get to check off another box and get a middle round quality player. Unfortunately perhaps the only WR they draft. Can’t have too many rookies pushing vets.
5. Jordan Hancock CB OSU
Steelers take a talented but too small DB from one of their favorite day trip scouting schools. Gotta use up those Sheetz gas points before they expire
7. Trey Moore LB/OLB Texas
Steelers will have him inactive for 2 years. 3rd year he will be a terror on STs and have 2 sacks an INT and a fumble recovery filling in for 38 yr old Low Watt for 3 quarters after an injury early in the season. Won’t get any more snaps except for STs. 4th year he will explode as a wave backup but never start. He will sign elsewhere in FA and the Steelers will re-sign Low Watt
7. Gerald Mincey OT Kentucky
Steelers pass on Bru McCoy who signs with the Ravens and brutalizes the Steelers for the next 10 years. Mincey becomes a passable back up OT and eventually a somewhat passable starter who the Steelers can’t upgrade because they have too many other holes elsewhere so they just keep going with him. Bonus because he and Hampton saved Steelers scouting department Sheetz points for when the peanut butter milkshake comes back !!

Yeah, I'm sittin' on this barstool
Talkin' like a damn fool
Got the twelve o'clock news blues
And I've given up hope
On the afternoon soaps
And a bottle of cold brew
Is it any wonder I'm not crazy
Is it any wonder I'm sane at all
Well, I'm so tired of losin'
I got nothin' to do
With all day to do it
Well, I'd go out cruisin'
But I've no place to go
And all night to get there
Is it any wonder I'm not a criminal
Is it any wonder I'm not in jail
Is it any wonder I've got too much time on my hands
It's tickin' away with my sanity
I've got too much time on my hands

If they trade Pickens for let's say a 3rd rounder, which is real possible, their draft will look a lot like this:
1) WR
2) DL
3a) WR
3b) RB
4) CB
5) QB
7a) T
7b) OLB

If Malaki Starks drops to mid-teens (highly unlikely) they need to trade up as they did with Troy P. I wish they would have traded up last draft to snag Bowers. He's a Beast.

I agree
But I increasingly think they won’t
1) They need a RB to do the ground and pound. They won’t get outta 1st without a RB. Unfortunately. Their recent history certainly suggests that and I don’t see any real indication they are gonna go off script.
2) They likely look at both S spots as being good enough to win with. That isn’t completely false (right now) either but when you are a bad team you gotta take BPAs like Starks IMO. Unfortunately I highly doubt the Steelers see themselves as a bad team. I’d be pissed but not surprised if the Steelers re-signed both safeties in the near future in fact. They are gonna try to fill bigger holes elsewhere with a much lesser player than Starks. And they will likely be burned by that decision for the next ten years or so

The more I think about it the more I could totally see the Steelers going Milroe in the second
1. Hampton RB
2. Milroe QB
3. Mills/Cross/Stackhouse DL
4. White III WR
5. Hancock CB
7. Moore LB/OLB
7. Mincey OT
THATS ^^^^^ a fucking Steelers draft if I ever saw one !! Lolololz

Assuming Weidl is still here, they will draft either OLine or DLine in the first round. Ideally Dline, but I wouldn't rule out another OT
(This would mean moving Jones to Guard, where he'd have more help)
They will need a RB, but I don't think the team likes the idea of paying a first round RB a C2. I wouldn't rule out a 1st round pick on a RB, I just feel like they will go a different route, and draft the RB later. They could even extend Warren and bring in a Vet RB to rotate.
They'll be looking for a WR1, because even though Pickens has all the talent in the world, he has a 10 cent brain. So he's not getting a C2, at least not a $30M p/y C2. IMO, Pickens is ripe to be traded.
They'll look to replace him in FA, and also draft another WR. Assuming Tomlin is back, they don't value WR enough to use a 1st round pick. So this is rd 2 or 3, imo.
They need a play making FS, because Minkah is at the end, and not likely extended, imo.
Depending upon Jackson's back injury, they'll likely draft a Corner fairly high. I don't think anyone trusts Corey Trice to stay healthy, at this stage.
The wild card in this draft, would be OLB. how do they feel about Watt? Is it time to replace him, or plan for the replacement??
So
Rd 1 DL, OL, RB, in that order based upon best available.
Rd 2 whichever they didn't take, but also add in WR, CB, FS
Rd 3 again, whichever positions they didn't select in the first 2 rounds. BPA on those.

I actually think Fautanu is the one who is better suited at G. LG might be his best NFL position
Jones needs to either sink or swim at LT.

Well watch and learn.
Aren’t you the guy calling Pickens the best player on the Steelers and now the Ravens are calling him soft and are laughing at him?
Good call.

I’m just waiting for the next JAG you proclaim has “top 5 in the draft outlier talent”.
Takes a special kind of idiocy to make a claim like that.
Par for the course though.
I do however look forward to the 50 or so times you’ll update your draft list.
With next years coming a day or so after this years draft.

Wanna bet they don’t?
We can go big. Like say a year’s worth of your day trading profits.
So like $1,000?

If they took Starks, they'd likely just neuter him the same way they've done Minkah. Same reason you've been against a WR in the first, really, dictates it'd be counterproductive to draft Starks, right?
RB in the first wouldn't be a shock at all, and if nothing else, Hampton stays healthy, he's an upgrade over what we've had at lead back for the last four years.

I could see Fautanu at G, but at this point, particularly given the failure of Jones at RT, I think they have to give him a shot at Tackle.
I'm assuming they'll give Jones a shot at LT, to see if he can function (which I'm fairly skeptical of) and if not, they'll move him inside. I'm not convince Jones can make it at any position.

Dan Moore in about 5 weeks went from "we probably better resign him" to "I'm glad he's a FA"
Because about 5 weeks ago I thought the smart play was to keep Moore at LT, Faun at RT and then see if Jones can be a guard. Then you sign a FA swing tackle
Now you still have to sign a FA swing tackle, hope Faunt can be healthy at LT and Jones is at RT. They probably need to sign a Guard in FA too.

Oh I think they’ll need to start there with him as well.
At some point though I think his shorter arms will be better suited inside. Especially given how he (at least at this point) looks to be a better run blocker than pass protector.

Wouldn't that be the clusterphuk of all clusterphuks; having both the 1st round OTs you drafted, bust and have to be moved inside??

Fautana was projected to be a day 1 starter coming out of camp at RT, the Steelers were evidentially impressed…he suffered a minor injury in camp, but once he was healthy he started I believe it was week 2 or 3, and looked tons better in that game than Broderick, then he tore his knee up the next week in practice.

Well, the Standard and all.
But ya, it would suck.
Hoping both work out but right now Jones looks like a lazy ass who didn’t bother working on technique.
