Pat Pete would sign with anybody that would have him.
Eric Rowe is who I would have re-signed and I have no fucking idea why the Steelers don't want the guy, even for a backup role.
Dude was our best safety down the stretch and it wasn't close.
Guess he didn't blow Cool Shades hard enough.

Pff for last year for some notable options (and 1 non-option):
Eli Apple 55.3
Adoree Jackson 48.6
JC Jackson 34.8
Levi Wallace 57.8
Patrick Pererson 60.5
Cam Sutton 56.0
Xavien Howard 55.8
Eric Rowe 59.9
CB situation right now is pretty horrid; really want to add someone unless we are all in on high deaft pick QB in 2025. I’d be fine with Peterson or Rowe ($3-4M). I don’t want sutton, and the options get notably worse from there.

I fully agree and I also believe the DeShon Elliot signing made Rowe a redundancy not worth the while….K_C_ wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 6:11 pmPat Pete would sign with anybody that would have him.

That said I rather have the depth [dependant upon his asking price of course] than get into an injury jam.
He played well in 3 games last season, but that was also 3 games against crap QB's and he was only on the field because 5 players in front of him were hurt/suspended.
I really doubt Rowe's phone is ringing off the hook from teams. Would much rather roll with Trenton Thompson as the 4th safety.

Geno Smith isn't a crap QB. At least he wasn't last season but overall, I agree with your point.
Still, Rowe was arguably our best defensive back those final games the Steelers HAD TO WIN and we weren't exactly starting a superstar at QB ourselves.
For instance, Eric Rowe led the Steelers in tackles against the Seahawks, on the road, in a win that absolutely changed the course of the season. 9 solos and an assist. Dude was laying the fucking wood from that point on, the rest of the year.
I just looked it up and Rowe led the team in tackles 3 of the 4 final games of the season and the game he didn't (the ass kicking of the Bengals) Rowe had an interception.
I mean, they can't find any room for that guy? I'm not saying Eric Rowe is at the level of a healthy Minkah, but he SHITS ALL OVER Pat Pete.

Pat Pete has no options.
Funny how that works.

Also, Rowe is a safety and Peterson’s a CB.
An NFL roster needs 4 NFL caliber CBs and 3 NFL safeties; we currently have 3 safeties and 2 cbs on roster. Million times bigger need at cb.

Any news on Trice? Any chance he can stay healthy and contribute this year?
Participating in OTA but not cleared for full contact (although he should be good to go for camp).Steel City Fan wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 4:45 pmAny news on Trice? Any chance he can stay healthy and contribute this year?
2nd part... hopefully, but who knows.
Peterson will never play corner for another NFL team and shouldn't have played corner for the Steelers last year.
Agreed that corner is the bigger need for the Steelers, but Rowe showed me in limited action that he could provide excellent play as a safety. I don't think Patrick Peterson can play in the NFL at any position anymore.

peterson is a better CB today than probably 50-100 CBs that will be on NFL rosters this fall, probably including Donte Jackson.K_C_ wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 6:24 pmPeterson will never play corner for another NFL team and shouldn't have played corner for the Steelers last year.

But i’m sure he’s looking to get paid $5M or better, and that’s where things get trickier.

Peterson fell off last year. He is a last resort signing imo.

He was brutally awful. I mean…..what in the fuck?

He’ll be lucky to get the league minimum from somebody if they’re dumb enough to sign him.
Dude is toast.

Reports out of camp are encouraging to say the least, considering it is camp.
Rush has been outstanding according to the reports I’ve read. Optimism is high.
Watt has been practicing at safety. He claims to be picking it up in stride but still believes he’s still capable of playing outside at corner.
I believe Petersons’s playing days are behind him especially if what is reported from camp is true.
Both Rush and Watt will likely get playing time on ST’s too which is not something Peterson does as a vet.
Trice has also received some praise in camp so perhaps he can stay healthy enough and progress beyond last season.
If [big If] they get sustained contributions from Trice, Rush and Watt that could spell the end of the secondary concerns going forward.
Not to mention Jackson, Bishop, Averett and Barnes making their impact. Jackson starts day 1. Kinda excited about our prospects for once.

CB Porter - set in stone. A very solid player in the NFL Highly likely a C2Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 4:34 pmReports out of camp are encouraging to say the least, considering it is camp.

FS Fitzpatrick - set in stone. A very solid player in the NFL. Under contract through 26 when he will be 30. I’m sure the Steelers are starting to look for a FS. Is Watts a FS in the making or do the Steelers see him as a potential SS ?
SS Kazee - Kazee is 30 and I won’t be surprised if someone else grabs this spot. I’m not sure the Steelers longterm future at SS is on the roster unless they think that is Watts ? Can’t wait to see a depth chart
CB Rush - Lots of competition here but Rush has all the tools you could want at CB. I won’t be surprised if someone else gets the starter nod this year but it’s great to hear he’s doing better than expected early. Some guys just get behind early on and teams just move on. Even when they have every tool. If this guy turns a corner this year look out
NCB - Hopefully Bishop stakes his claim fast. To soon to tell
Longterm ??
CB Porter
FS Fitzpatrick/Watts
SS TBD
CB Rush
NCB Bishop
If that ^^^ came to be that’s one hellaciously toolsy unit that the Steelers would have very cheaply for a few years
