Meh. Doesn’t do it for me. How many Van Jefferson’s and Quez Watkins’s do we need?
We need a legit guy not another complimentary piece
I guarantee they will look into this.
Zay Jones would be a much better addition than Van Jefferson or Quez Watkins.
Much more proven and still has plenty of tread left on his tires.

Zay Jones is far better than Watkins or Jefferson.
Zay Jones had over 800 yards receiving just 1 year ago.
Van Jefferson hasn't done anything like that in close to 5 years.
Watkins has never come close to 800 yards receiving.
Watkins had over 600 yards 3 years ago.
I think Jefferson is washed. I'd cut his ass and keep Watkins and Zay Jones.

DJ Chark is an unrestricted FA who no longer counts against the formula. He's a similar WR to Zay Jones, only younger and a bit better. I would think that's a better move for a legit WR2.

I had no idea Chark was available. Yeah, he'd be a lot better than Jones, Jefferson and Watkins.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:13 pmDJ Chark is an unrestricted FA who no longer counts against the formula. Trying to find a favorable trade for a high end WR while keeping boyd/chark/jones guys as a fallback option (also, hoping for a higher end cut) seems like a reasonable plan.
But from the outside, we have no idea whether that’s the plan or not. Maybe they are just waiting for pricetags on these FAs to fall, or maybe they are just planning to enter the season with an abysmal WR unit.

I’d also be down for Chark. Great size and played all but two games last season in the worst offense in football (yes, worse than ours).

With a ton of new WRs entering the league this year, there should be more than a handful of upgrades available to our WR room before the year starts (without spending draft capital).
Competing for a roster spot along with the current FAs (Tyler Boyd, D.J. Chark, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Zay Jones, OBJ
, Allen Robinson, Hunter Renfrow, Scott Miller, Jalen Guyton, Julio Jones, Byron Pringle, Mecole Hardman, Sterling Shepard, Richie James, Russell Gage, Jakeem Grant, etc...) will be guys cut from current rosters. Not saying the players listed above or below will be our WR savior, but some could improve our room, for sure.
For example:
(possibly one or more of for each team listed)
SF: Chris Conley, Danny Gray, Trent Taylor
DEN: Tim Patrick, Phillip Dorsett, Lil'Jordan Humphrey
CLE: James Proche, Justin Hardee, Jaelon Darden
ARI: Greg Dortch, Tejhaun Palmer, Elijah Higgins
KC: Shi Smith, Justyn Ross
DAL: Martavis Bryant
, Racey McMath
MIA: Braxton Berrios, River Cracraft, Erik Ezukanma, Anthony Schwartz
PHI: Parris Campbell, DeVante Parker, Jacob Harris
ATL: KhaDarel Hodge, Casey Washington
NYG: Isaiah Hodgins, Bryce Ford-Wheaton
NYJ: Jason Brownlee, Xavier Gipson
CAR: Ihmir Smith-Marsette , Cam Sims, David Moore
NE: Kendrick Bourne, Jalen Reagor, Javon Baker, Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, Tyquan Thornton
SEA: Laviska Shenault, D'Wayne Eskridge
HOU: Steven Sims, Xavier Hutchinson
Of course, I'd also certainly take a Deebo, B. Aiyuk, D. Adams, T. Higgins, C. Sutton, J. Jennings, T. McLaurin, D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, etc... at the right (great) price and be done with it.

This was not a very good year to just throw away a starting #2 WR like DJ and try and go dumpster diving for a suitable replacement.
It turns out that WRs just aren't a dime a dozen, aren't easily replaceable.
What bothers me a lot is that some people haven't learned anything from the DJ situation. Has anybody listened to Matt Williamson? The minute we drafted Fautanu, Matt was hellbent and determined to trade Dan Moore Jr.
No. No. NO!
Things happen. You can have injuries happen to either one of your shiny new 1st round draft picks at tackle, and having a Dan Moore JR, with 50 career starts is a very valuable insurance policy. You are the envy of the NFL right now with bookend tackles that are first rounders and also have their top backup with 50 games starting experience.
But the Matt Williamson's of the world want to trade away a Dan Moore for a 6th or 7th round pick and go with Dylan Cooke or Spencer Anderson as the 3rd tackle and I think both are looking for their first NFL snap along the offensive line. Does that make any sense??

Diontae Johnson had as many warts as he had positives. The dude was an idiot and he wasn't going to be a Steeler in 2025. I also don't believe the front office wanted him in the same WR room as Pickens anymore. Both had effort issues last season and while I understand the QB play was underwhelming, NFL football players have to go 100% at all times. No ifs, ands or buts about it. One of the big issues we had a few years ago regarding Claypool was that JuJu, another fucking idiot, was the "veteran in the room." Claypool learned a lot from JuJu....about how to market himself on social media. JuJu was a very good football player for a few years (better than DJ ever was) but he was immature and was the last dude that should have been mentoring Chase Claypool. The Steelers were in a similar situation with Diontae Johnson and George Pickens and decided to cut bait.Scunge wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 7:05 amThis was not a very good year to just throw away a starting #2 WR like DJ and try and go dumpster diving for a suitable replacement.

I think we should withhold judgment on trading Johnson until we see what the offense looks like with Arthur Smith in charge and how Roman Wilson fits into the equation. Also, there is A LOT of smoke out there about the Steelers trying to acquire a high level WR to pair with Pickens so before we all consider this upcoming season lost, let's wait and see how it plays out.
Diontae Johnson had to go. He was always a "1 step forward, 2 steps back" kind of player and was never going to reach the enormous potential he looked to have when he first landed in Pittsburgh....and he's a fucking fool to boot. Personally I'm happy he's gone.

I’d be okay with trading Moore if the price was right, but that’s certainly not a 6th rounder. Either way, trading a backup for a pick is a million times better than trading a starter like Diontae when you have no depth behind him and no way to replace him.

Juan Jennings might be available, very unlikely to resign in SF
