Our WR room consists of Pickens, Miles Austin III and….
Myles Boykins.
Myles Boykins.

Given we had to trade him by 3/16 due to his $3M roster bonus, I can't imagine there will be a significant return.
I think Diontae wanted out, the Steelers had no interest giving him a third contract, and didn't want to deal with his shit in the locker room for another season.

Now is there a WR sitting in free agency worth getting that not named Juju Smith Shuster?

Wow isn’t Donte Jackson really good?
He’s got 14 INTs

OK Khan…you have my attention!
Worth noting Jackson also has a roster bonus coming due ($4m).tbsteel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 11:16 pmGiven we had to trade him by 3/16 due to his $3M roster bonus, I can't imagine there will be a significant return.

I'm on my phone but the $ terms look like a wash
That’s a truly terrible trade.

ESPN has Jackson listed at 5’10 180
Is he a slot corner?

Softest Steelers WR of my lifetime. The drops, the fumbles, the backwards running… and when he added in being a malcontent to being soft, fuck him and good riddance!

Could we see Mack Hollins in the near future?
The chances are great!
Not sure it solves much.
As for Calvin Ridley, whom I wanted them to sign, will have a delay in his signing due to trade compensation to ATL making a 2nd (if he signs before a certain date, I think I read) round pick a 3rf rounder (if he signs after that date). Something screwy like that.

I liked Jackson back when he came out. A 4.3 slot corner. He’s been a solid pro and likely our nickel corner.
They must have quite a plan at WRSteelperch wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 11:32 pmSoftest Steelers WR of my lifetime. The drops, the fumbles, the backwards running… and when he added in being a malcontent to being soft, fuck him and good riddance!

You mean maybe DJ didn't suck like this board is always droning on about? All the excuses with the offense made for Kenny PIckens, and none of those applied to the WRs, ESPECIALLY the guys throwing them the ball most of the year?
I agree DJ was probably a malcontent that needed to go. And it's probably easier to get a quality WR early in the draft where DB is a crapshoot even late in R1.
Doesn't Arthur Smith prefer 2 TE sets, anyway? I think they'll take a WR in the first or second now, and maybe a decent vet for depth. Actually, JuJu wouldn't be a horrible fit if he comes cheap, either in the slot or until a rookie gets up to speed.
PIT is going to run the ball and play defense and hope Wilson can compensate for offensive incompetence.
The WR FA market is still pretty open.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 11:38 pmThey must have quite a plan at WRSteelperch wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 11:32 pmSoftest Steelers WR of my lifetime. Calvin Ridley and Olamide Zaccheaus are my best guesses to replace DJ.
DJ for DJ....interesting. Looks like we spent ~$5M in '25(?) cap space to make this happen, and move up from pick 240 to pick 178 in this years draft.
MT -- Please don't bring back Allen Robinson and Pat Pete on the cheap (even for their vet presence
).

Should still be a few moves in FA. We need to sign a SS, C, WR, CB before the draft.
So, now it's looking like the deal is this......
In 2024, Jackson will earn a base salary of $4,722,500, a roster bonus of $4,000,000 and a workout bonus of $200,000, while carrying a cap hit of $10,522,500.
So, we got rid of D. Johnson's current cap hit of $15.85M and now have Jackson's current cap hit of $10.5M. It appears we are also saving ~$5.3M in '24 cap with this move. That should currently put us around ~$23.75M as best I can figure.
Not sure if Jackson's three void years of dead cap ($5M-ish maybe) came with him or not? It doesn't look like it, but I'm really not sure.
