Weather going to be bad in Baltimore on Saturday

Post by rooneytunes » Tue Jan 02, 2024 4:12 am

My friend and I were thinking about going. Live in Eastern Panhandle of WV so only like 90 miles away. Have seen Steelers play in Baltimore many times. Couple of times in DC.

Probably not going because calling for heavy rain. Went to see them play Ravens in '96 at Colts/Orioles old Memorial stadium. Was beginning of December and was miserable.

Not sure who this benefits. Maybe Steelers since it may be a running game and Ravens will have a lot of backups.

I was thinking of going too (I am in NVA area) until I heard Pickett was benched. I would have gone to watch Rudolph play no problem, but not happy with how Tomlin has handled this so I will vote with my feet.

Seeing your post, I can tell you this game will be a misery because I was at its twin game.

I went to the 2019 game and watched Duck, the Steelers, and their playoff chances slip away early in a cold, windy, rainy day. The Chesapeake was angry that day! It was the last game of the season as well and rumors of a bug were just starting.

The highlight of the evening was leaving early and finding a charged Uber scooter sitting right outside the gate. Somehow in the pouring rain and a very baggy poncho, I rode that sucker fast and miraculously to some distance away from the parking garage, when Uber’s geo fencing killed it.

I stripped naked and held up my arms in the pouring rain; the driven rain washed the stench of that game and season fromme! I then drove my car to Zihuatanejo, Mexico and rebuilt a small fishing boat.

I'm out there talking about Rudolph being able to play himself into a nice payday, and then you tell me it's going to be rough weather.

His last outing in the rain didn't go so well.

Not going to a game because Kenny Pickett got benched is wild to me.

That and the rain!

Well I am not trying to bash Rudolph. He has played well, but Pickett is getting a raw deal because Tomlin has no backbone and fails again and again at evaluating talent.

Pickett has been grinding and grinding and carrying the water of Tomlin and Canada’s fucked up offensive and philosophy. Canada finally gets fired and Pickett turns a corner and Tomlin doesn’t have the backbone to finish the experiment or evaluation or whatever you want to call it. He has to take a leap of faith and let Kenny finish the season in my opinion or start in the playoffs. Either that or Tomlin completely shit the bed on communicating his intentions that the surgery shut down Kenny for the season to play it safe etc etc.

Otherwise this is just about Mike Tomlin’s record and not what’s best for the team in the long run. Now it will be Tomzak and Maddox to start 24 season. And any sliver of hope with Pickett has been jettisoned by Tomlin breaking a pact with a rookie who was running the fucking team exactly how Tomlin wanted it run! It is maddening. I can’t wait until MT is gone!

So yes I will vote with my feet at an away game. And hope Rudolph plays well, we get in the playoffs and watch Mason Cole cause a playoff loss because they still haven’t fixed his fucking holy roller snaps all season long!

Huh??

What has he done that was so bad?? And I can’t stand the cat.

1) he is going with the hot hand and rightfully so.

2) he softened the messaging by stating KP wasn’t fully ready to go and they didn’t want to rush him. So saving some face for PR Pickett.

What else did you want him to do?

You sound like a jilted lover or something. Reasonable I suppose given how you were stitching together Pickett’s gold jacket back in the preseason

This was based off of the Madden tweet…making it seem like Tomlin benched Pickett publicly and loudly causing a blow-up. That was all bullshit as reported yesterday, and sure Tomlin may have benched him, but he did it properly and quietly and all can save face.

Now it is just the rain and the playoff hopes seemingly impossible keeping me from the game. Don’t see Buffalo losing or the Tits winning with TL back at QB.

Bad weather is MORE reason to go. Too bad it's not a muddy slop field as well, for full glorious old school football. Cue up John Facenda and Sam Spence.

It’s pretty nice there all week except for the window of time that this game is being played. Kinda lame. I feel like we can hang with their backups. A slop fest kinda evens the playing field. Almost and inch of rain.

I would imagine the heavy rain benefits the offense. I think this benefits the Ravens with Huntley as opposed to Mason

BTW, upper 30s and raining is objectively the worst weather. Fucking sucks.

Baltimore was already kinda thin at CB with injuries; their secondary backups could have been a nice target if the weather were neutral.

If it is truly poor weather, that would hurt the chances of Pickens and DJ18 making a big impact in this game.

The Ravens have played on Tifway 419 bermuda grass since 2016 so it could be a muddy slopfest in the rain.

How do the Steelers practice these days? Do they go out in the rain and snow and cold and practice playing football, or do they go inside to practice on those days?

It would be good to practice in the conditions they will be playing in.

Listen, what shit conditions really does is put the focus on the guys in the trenches. If both teams were playing starters, that would HEAVILY favor the Ravens. Even with some backups, I think it favors Baltimore.

If the Steelers are to win, they might want to consider attacking and trying to get a lead early. Tougher to come from behind in that weather situation.
