This game went exactly like this fucker wanted it to go. He thinks they were a few big plays away from a good performance. He is exactly who we think he is.

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
Tomlin:
Exactly the type of game we anticipated.
Came up a play or two short.
We knew what had to happen. Just not enough of it for us.
Weren't able to get enough big plays on offense.
We don't live in our fears, we don't second guess, we live. I stand by whatever decisions or play selections or ball distributions we had today.
The passing game had a hard time getting going. What do you think needs to change there?
I don't know if you can describe it as having a tough time getting going. Maybe we just been able to run it effectively the last few weeks.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin Completely Ignores Offense's Incompetence After Loss To Browns
It began with Tomlin stating with a single word that Kenny Pickett was not missing any confidence, despite what everyone had just seen transpire in the loss. From there, Tomlin simply kept digging the hole when he asked what he saw from Pickett that wasn't clicking.
"You know, I think the Cleveland Browns had a lot to do with that. I'd be, you know, disingenuous, man, if I didn't compliment them on their players, their schematics, how they played today, the venue component of it."
Not once in that response did Tomlin even begin to admit that the game Pickett played was much less than the Pittsburgh standard, even if that particular standard took a hit in 2023. Tomlin is a veteran future Hall of Fame head coach, and for him to let Pickett and the offense off the hook like he did was embarrassing for the franchise and for him as an NFL coach.
Pickett finished the game with a grand total of 106 yards passing, which amounted to a pathetic 3.8 yards per pass. The porous offensive line didn't do any favors by allowing pressure constantly, and Pickett ended up with a 62.5 rating. Tomlin ended the answer by barely eluding to the offense, but nothing close to what was deserved.
"From an offensive perspective, there's a lot of things that were challenging today."

The Steelers pattern for 2023 is one loss followed by 2 wins:
- SFO loss, CLE &LAS wins = 2 1
- HOU loss, Rats and Rams wi s = 4-2
- Jags loss, TEN & GRB wins = 6-3
- CLE loss.... then what?
If the pattern holds it should mean
- Cincy & Cards wins for 8-4
- Pats loss, Colts & Cincy wins for 10-5
- SEA loss, Rats + WC Round 1 wins for an 12-5 regular season, 1 playoff win and..
- Divisional round loss

Are they about to lose this team? We can only dream.

No shit sherlock.
I said it before, was putting Canada down on the sidelines punishment, or was it to placate players who were bitching about him and how he was up in the booth.

Tomlin risked losing the entire offense by bringing the obviously incompetent Matt Canada back this season then compounded that by refusing to replace him at the bye week. All in the name of repaying him for hooking his son up with a spot on a college roster. Does anyone think any of these skill players on offense will want to sign another contract in Pittsburgh? They all can’t wait to get the hell out of here.

Meanwhile George Pickens almost blew another ACL today trying to catch a dogshit pass from Kenny; a basic ass pass that high school QBs can make.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 2:49 amTomlin risked losing the entire offense by bringing the obviously incompetent Matt Canada back this season then compounded that by refusing to replace him at the bye week. It’s interesting there is more coming out seemingly players having an issue with Canada
I did see one shot with an antimated Canada talking at Kenny on the bench with Kenny pointedly turning his head away from Canada

These NFL players have been pretty much the best of the best through their football lives leading up to this point.
They finally make it to the NFL and their coach by an offensive coordinator who has no scheme and is using them all incorrectly.
Tomlin has stood by Canada for way too long multiple times. This has been bubbling over and here we are again losing against the Browns and seriously jeopardizing not only the offense staying together a division championship and potentially a playoff appearance.

Chucks stating the obvious a few weeks back.
Pickens upset about his lack of involvement. Upset on sidelines a few games back.
Najee grumbling after this game.
DJ upset on sidelines
Kenny zoning out Canada talking.
The ship is rocking.
Water is seaping into the hull.
We are stuck with the incompetence of Mike Tomlin.... but he can at least make the change firing Canada Dry to try and at least make changes to this offense to create some kind of spark.
Aim high.
Fire Tomlin...
But settle for Canada Dry being replaced

Chucks got publicity shamed and benched by his head coach.
DJ and NJ are deviating from the norm.
Will they be benched?
More drama.

I fucking hate Mike Tomlin.
I'm sorry, but if there's one guy I don't want to hear speak his mind about the coaches, particularly at this stage, it's Najee fucking Harris.
The guy shouldn't even be playing anything more than a bit role on the offense if talent was doing the talking. And his comments come off more as sour grapes like when he bitched about his OL earlier in the year and last year.

C’mon man…what’s not to like?
He’s never had a losing season, the players love him, and apparently he’s just one heckuva swell guy! Love me some Cool Shades!
I think losing the locker room would be great. It's stuff like that and the media continuing to turn on Tomlin that might get us some positive change. I mean there has to be a point where the Rooneys make a change right?Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 2:49 amTomlin risked losing the entire offense by bringing the obviously incompetent Matt Canada back this season then compounded that by refusing to replace him at the bye week. Question for you though: I realize you think Pickett is dog shit. I didn't want them to draft him but they did and after seeing some positive signs in both preseasons and a little last year I was hopeful he could develop into a decent starter. After seeing what several other players look like away from this disaster of a coaching staff and the way Pickett has gotten progressively worse this year, do you think there's no hope for him with a competent coaching staff? I look around the league and there are QBs with very marginal talent putting up decent to good numbers while our guy struggles to get 100 yards. I mean noodle arms like Duck and Rudolph put up better numbers. I just can't believe that's all him when I watched Ben continually check down and throw short of the sticks even when it made no sense unless he was calling his own plays in the no huddle. Do you really believe it's mostly Pickett and not the morons in charge?

Coach had Ben to deal with this bullshit, or at least help keep it from bothering him, HE IS IMPORTANT. Ben at least kept the WRs happy with stats.
Now, no one to brunt the fury of pissed off players and a superiorly shit offense that penalizes players for being on the team.
A tenured guy like Coach doesn't like that stuff.
This team needs a squad of sports psychologists to get in there and document this insanity. DK said there was a giddiness in Coach's presser after the game that he and others found weird.
It's a fricking soap opera, or as my Mom calls them, soap box operas. Maybe that's more appropriate.

Not sure what was meant by "giddiness," but regardless of win or loss, this was a Mike Tomlin style game. He probably has this in his head as "a close, last minute loss to a division rival on the road in a tough, physical game," which, in his head, is just something that happens. I can sadly really imagine him thinking this loss was "okay."
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
