A bit O/T kudos to this team…

I played in a charity golf tournament recently. Now this is a very very small charity in CA run by someone I know who lost a child. So not the type of charity that a company or business would really get any social credit for donating to. Especially one in PA.

This kid, while a CA native was a Steelers fan.

Needing auction items for the golf event the mother wrote letters to local teams the Oakland A’s, San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, San Jose Sharks, and then the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Locally, only the Oakland A’s responded. They donated several game tickets. The other local teams didn’t even bother with a return letter, email, nothing.

The Steelers however, took the time to send out a framed and autographed Cam Heyward picture and jersey.

Thought it was nice of the team, with no local connection to this tiny charity out in CA, to respond and send some cool items for the auction.

So props to them.

My condolences to the person that lost a child. Unimaginable. Hopefully they had a great turnout and a great event.

Glad our team “gets it” and can take a few minutes to do something kind.

You know what you got, Thrillseeker?
You got class.

Thanks for sharing '95.
Good stuff from our beloved Steelers.

Say what you will about the Steelers on the field and the Pens as well but both organizations are top notch when it comes to charitable causes.

Great share 95 and hopefully the event was an incredible success.

It went well. Was good to see the mother smile as she’s been a mess these past couple of years.

I am close with the step-father but never knew the kid was a hard-core Steelers fan.

So was a bit surprised when I saw the Steelers gear. That’s why I had to ask because it was out of place with all the local things that were being auctioned off.

That’s when they said oh he was a huge Steelers fan. Steelers and A’s so was also cool the A’s donated tickets.

But then, the A’s can’t get anyone to go to their games these days so giving aways some tix just helps their stands look less empty…😜

Thanks for the responses…

I help run a volunteer-based non-profit and frequently solicit donations for our fundraising.

Steelers are great.

Pens are even better (I’m always shocked by what they give us. Can’t say enough about them).

Pirates will give you an unsigned bobble-head of a player not even on the team anymore and tell you you’re lucky you even got that.
