What happened to Spillane?
Haven't seen anything other than Tomlin in post game presser mentioned he got hurt in pregame.
Hopefully not serious. He may not be as good a Middle Linebacker as he flashed at times last year, but he will provide quality depth there and he helps a ton on special teams.
Plus he has a cool last name since every time I hear his name I want to call him Mickey.

He's a good depth player but his coverage skills, from all reports, are below average. He seems to get posterized every game at least once as the LB'er in coverage against the fastest WR on the other team..lolrooneytunes wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 5:21 pmHaven't seen anything other than Tomlin in post game presser mentioned he got hurt in pregame.

And I have a soft spot for him as I instantly flash on all the lurid paperback covers of Mickey's books..lol. My truck driving Uncle used to give them to me on the sly when I was young as my mother would have definately NOT approved!

Maybe he was playing with a nagging injury all preseason but man he looked so slow, like Ben slow in the action I saw him in.
He is a depth player now and when Johnson gets up to speed he slides farther down the depth chart.

I agree, athletically, the Spillane we saw this preseason seemed a decent amount different than the one we saw making splash plays in the middle of last season. Not sure if it's injury, confidence, or that he just peaked and has since rapidly regressed.fractalsteel wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:02 pmMaybe he was playing with a nagging injury all preseason but man he looked so slow, like Ben slow in the action I saw him in.

Or the hit he put on Henry, in the words of Bill Munny, took away everything he's got and everything he's ever gonna have….in terms of football skills.DP39 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:25 pmI agree, athletically, the Spillane we saw this preseason seemed a decent amount different than the one we saw making splash plays in the middle of last season. Yep, considered adding that he possibly lost his taste for the level of violence routinely involved.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:30 pmOr the hit he put on Henry, in the words of Bill Munny, took away everything he's got and everything he's ever gonna have….in terms of football skills.DP39 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:25 pmI agree, athletically, the Spillane we saw this preseason seemed a decent amount different than the one we saw making splash plays in the middle of last season.
