Concerns about the season

Post by Kodiak » Sat May 16, 2020 5:57 am

Not going to get into some of the other questions that inevitably devolve into politics. This thread is only about how to pull off a fair season.

1) Impressed that Tomlin raised the issue of competitiveness with unequal openings. Criticisms of Tomlin as a HC aside, he's a pretty brilliant individual.

2) Along those lines, what have the lesser NFLers been doing to lift and stay in shape? I'm sure most have a treadmill and few dumbbells at home, but like Tomlin said it's a clear disadvantage for some teams to be locked out of state-of-the-art team facilities.

3) What happens if several key players on a team test positive for Covid-19?

Ben comes back, Tomlin doesn't = CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

Well that should help address topic 2.

As far as players getting Covid19, they should do what ever the rest of the people do when they get COVID19. Follow their doctor's advice.
And as Tomlin always says, next man up.

If the situation becomes like the meat processing plants then the NFL would need to reevaluate and make adjustments.

I imagine it will be especially hard for any undrafted free agents to latch on this year. Not so much from conditioning aspect, but just the lack of OTAs and stuff. Hard to impress when the coaches have less opportunities to see you than in normal years.

2) No camp will be a killer mainly for the rookies but older players need to get back into playing shape. Rookies for the Steelers are less impactful because none of them are expected to start. Someone like Ebron might be a different story.

3) I think they are looking at one of the other leagues ( S. Korea I think) where a player that tests positive is out. I am more interested in how they are going to do training camps.
