Offensive re-make
This offense has been, obviously, attrocious. To start, a new philosophy is needed, new offensive minds. Fichtner MUST go, a true QB coach needs to be hired and a new WR coach must be brought in! (Hines Ward???)
The offensive line is where I put the most blame, aside from the massive tolls the injuries took! Villenueva, Foster must be upgraded, as does RT! Maybe AV can be moved to the right side, and a new LT and LG can be brought in. This would improve this line.
Next up. RB. What to do about Conner? This is another spot I'd bring in a vet, someone like a Kenyon Drake, to add depth to RB. Snell isn't the answer here, nor Samuels.
WR Add a solid vet, and upgrade depth in the draft. WR is very deep in this draft. We have a good corp, depending how JUJU bounces back, and Deonte is going to be very good.
TE. Upgrade this whole position. McDonald can't stay on the field, Vannett is so so. We need more from this position. Look what BAL is doing with TE's!
Bottom line, with the D being solid, and only some depth at Safety and DL being an issue, it's time to focus on this dreadful offense. Ben is probably back, and needs a better line to help protect him, and more importantly, RUN THE BALL EFFECTIVELY!!! This will help the RB's and WR's as well. I'd spend the focus of the off season remaking the OL and adding RB depth!

Sphincter isn’t going anywhere if you will.
Obviously.
And unfortunately

As much as I respect Conner, and what he's overcome, he's in the wrong profession. We cant continue to build our offense around a running back that cant take an NFL hit.

Looks like the same wish list this team has had for the last decade. Even before Heath Miller retired we were clamouring for an upgrade at TE. Who did they draft? Outlaw and some other no names. Traded for McDonald and some dude named Greene that didn't pan out. TE has been a weakness Forever!
Now that Safety and Corner seem to be in good light Me thinks its time to draft some upgraded TE prospect. Doesn't need to be a 1st RND'er (ie Kittle) but some hard working combat catching run after the catch TE with some sand in the trunks to plow motherfuckers blocking in the secondary of the opposing defense. A do it all!
OLIne to me hasn't been about coaching. I think the coaching is on par because no matter how you wrap it up Shaun Sarrett is no HOF OLineman/Coach and try as he might never will be. That said, I believe the talent is drying up. Villanueva ain't no spring chicken by NFL standards. Neither are Foster, Pouncey or DeCastro. Feiler I think is just fine at RT. To improve his overall contribution to the offense slide him inside to RG once DeCastro rides off into the sunset.
RB/WR are new. Since they had a surprising retirement in the off season seems this WR corps has fallen from grace. I'm not even remotely impressed with Ray Sherman and what he's contributed to one of if not the youngest WR corps in the league. Worrisome. RB is only slightly less worrisome. Conner is about used up already in his what his 3rd season? How many games has he had to miss due to injury? He's like the over cooked turkey on Thanksgiving. He's done!
Did anyone else see Deon Cain Wide The Fuck Open on that errant pass to Samuels that was INT'd in the endzone?
That's the other area that this team is way below the average, QB players. What they done behind Ben is absolutely coming home to roost now. Perhaps Ben didn't want to share his ball with another QB? I don't know why they've not been paying closer attention to this but if that's the case it should not be even up for discussion with him. They need to draft another QB and definitely keep bringing in the UDFA's to compete. Leave no stone unturned.
The next thing the Steelers have to worry about is keeping this defense intact the way it stands now. Too many decent to blue chip players on one squad. Can't pay 'em all....

I believe Haley was shown the door in part because Ben didn't like him. I believe Fich was promoted to OC because Ben does like him. Given that, anyone want to bet Fich will be fired before Ben retires?Donnie Brasco wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 7:57 pmAnyone know how long his contract is?
Because the only way coaches get changed is if their "contracts run out". Tomlin never fires his buddies

Was Haley fired from Cleveland because Ben didn’t like him? Haley was fired because he was bad at his job...period.El Kabong wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 2:51 amI believe Haley was shown the door in part because Ben didn't like him. Fichtner was promoted because that is the Steelers way. Promote the next man in line. Yes, there have been exceptions, Haley for one, but normally that’s how the Rooney’s do their business.
