God this offense is awful
In all of the most critical moments of the season, our #1 wideout and #1 rb were nowhere to be found.
After that sorry set of performances, it truly is time to move on.
The offensive line needs some work too. Its hard to judge McDonald, but we certainly didn’t see much from him.
First 4 picks will need to be offense. Lucky for us they will be in the 2nd, 3rd (hopefully) and 4the rounds. Not super promising.

Twenty-two, as in TWENTY FUCKING TWO, goddamn games in a row we’ve turned the ball over on offense.
This is a deep seated, systemic problem on this team. We are sloppy, we are stupid, we are poorly coached.
Burn the whole stupid ass thing down to the fucking ground.

We just have a QB problem. The Steelers are not perfect and have warts like all organizations, but mainly we have a QB problem.
Fix the QB fix the problem.
If we could merge Mason and Duck together then we would have a true 2nd string QB on a CFL team.

We've had plenty of picks on offense the past few years

I'm not sure which is worse, the actual play of the people on our team or the play calling. I'm actually leaning toward the play calling as it rarely seems they adjust to the skillset of the players on the field. The last 2 weeks in particular they seem be calling the game not to lose instead of going out there and trying to take it to the other team.
That said, the O-line has taken a hUGE step backwards this year (actually they've also taken a lot of steps backward when trying top protect the QB..... geez they've been walked back a lot. In addition, it seems that as soon as someone at a skill position steps up they are promptly taken off the field for the next game and the guy coming back from injury (long list of those) doesn't play as well as they person who replaced him. Lots of drops by receivers too (JuJu should have caught that last ball) - a number of the interceptions have been the receivers fault (not absolving Mason or Duck in any way for lots of them but the receivers have done them few favors) and there have been way too many terribly timed fumbles - Juju holds onto the ball in OT against the Rats and who knows how the season turns out.
Sadly the combination of terrible play calling and mediocre to bad play by the offense has mostly overshadowed how good this D is and improvement in special teams (welcome back reliable Bos). So disappointing that we have finally improved the two areas that hurt us the most over the last few years only to have the offense totally crap the bed. Still glad we made the trade for Minkah as his presence had allowed everyone to play better on D.

I think the offense has some good players but that 2nd half was rough. 6 possessions went like this:
Punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, turnover on downs.
Punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, turnover on downs.

Looks to me that it's a combination of both talent (lack thereof) and very poor lackadaisical/unimaginative play calling....

Checkers vs. Chess
The loss of Munchak has been immeasurable. Foster, Fieler and Pouncey have been an embarrassment.
We are a sloppy, shitty bunch. Missed assignments at the line cause confusion and pressure. Against two bad backup QBs; that equals rushed and poor throws. That usually equals turnovers, which we have now managed to commit in TWENTY TWO straight games (I don’t think there is any team close to that; maybe Tampa Bay with Jamieus Winston throwing passes, but I can’t think of any other team close to twenty two straight games).
We are going to be in for a rude awakening next season when Ben comes back and we see more of the same bullshit; because that’s exactly what we are going to see.
More of the same from Tomlin & Co. An outstanding defensive run and opportunistic turnovers at almost an historic pace masked the fact that we still suck balls in a lot of ways.

How about this, our last 7 first round pick have gone to Defense - 8 if you include the Minkah trade. our last EIGHT first round picks. We wonder why the offense is shit. It fucking embarrassing that it took these fucking nitwits 8 years of first round picks to field a good defense, but when that happens, why should anyone be surprised that the offense is neglected and falling apart.
And people wanted to downplay Munchak leaving, bull fucking shit. He was one of the only coaches on this team worth a shit - and the rumor was he left because of who he reported to... so there's that.

Munchak laving definitely impacted the team because a lot of the problems with pass pro this year have been mental errors and not the line being blown off the ball.the-other-burg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 6:22 pmHow about this, our last 7 first round pick have gone to Defense - 8 if you include the Minkah trade. our last EIGHT first round picks. In just the last few games alone, Feiler is in double digits the number of times he comes off his man to block the guy the RB is tasked with picking up.
On the other side Foster and Villy have not been much better at communicating.
Excerbated by opposing Ds being allowed to crowd the LOS because they know the QB won't beat them.
And the offense has little margin for error...and yesterday, both Washington and JJSS missed catchable balls that likely win the game for Pittsburgh.

JW did not “miss” a catchable ball. The DB made a good play to knock the ball out at the last minute. And the offense has little margin for error...and yesterday, both Washington and JJSS missed catchable balls that likely win the game for Pittsburgh.
JuJu’s pass would have been lot tougher than people are claiming. Even if he does come down with it, he’s not scoring. By the time Steelers line up and spike the ball, they would’ve had, at best, two shots to score. No guarantees that they do.
