Steelers haven't been that lucky in Denver since 06. I'll be rooting for a win.

what gives me positive vibes about this game is Case Keenum at QB

he did absolutely nothing against us during (albeit at the beginning of) a career season last year, and his play has fallen off sharply this season

we tighten up on the running game - and one hopes we learned something about doing so yesterday - and we should be fine

Chubb and Miller are terrors off the edge, create a ton of havoc in the offensive backfield.

Emmanuel Sanders may get some extra motivation to show out, again vs his former team.

Chris Harris may be extra motivated after getting owned vs AB last time out.

Extreme Steelers hater, PacMan Jones may be looking for some payback.

Some variable to consider.

54-51?

I guess both the Rams and Chiefs have decided “fuck defense!”

Any given Sunday. This team beat the Chargers last week so the Steelers will have to play 4 qtrs against them, not just one like last week.

Yep, their D is still very solid. But Keenum is average QB at best, last year he was throwing to Diggs and Thielen, this year to Sanders (D. Thomas is gone). That´s a big difference.

This is the way the NFL is going. The last SB started that trend.

Actually, watching the highlights, there were several key defensive plays.

I’m imagining what the score might have been without them.

We can't sleep on Denver at all. They actually are still fighting for their playoff lives and that D can keep them in the game. Chargers are a very very good team and they just contained that offense and beat them.

I pray Gilbert is healthy and ready to go. Feiler has done a nice job but he's not good enough yet to handle the elite athletes on the edge. Von Miller must be salivating.

Denver will watch the Jax tapes and try and shove the ball down the defenses throats.
They have a pretty good run game,
8th in the NFL at 125 per game,
but an impressive 5.2 avg. per carry, which is tops in the NFL. That is not an inflated stat due to a running QB or from a 70-80-90 yard TD run from someone.
They run the ball more than they pass it.

Lindsay is a pretty quick back and carries a 5.5 avg. in his small 5'-8" 190 frame.
and they rotate nicely with Freeman the fire hydrant at 6'-0" and 240.
They also mix in 3rd RB Devontae Booker who has 25 carries and a 5.8 average.

So they rotate and keep guys fresh.
Their 3rd RB has 25 carries.

Ridley and Samuels have a combined 28 carries in 10 games.

Need to get Samuels more involved.
But this may be a tuff week to do so with Miller and Chubb as pass rushers he will need to find and pick up.

limiting 1st down carries to less than 3 yards should be the goal.
2nd and 7, 2nd and 8's

On offense, can not come out looking like our feet have been sewed to our arms.
Taking it to these guys early and making them play from behind will expose their passing game.
Do not give that team hope.

Denver is gritty.

Beat chargers after being down 12 and chargers driving. Lost to texans in last minute.

Can't sleep on this team esp in Denver.

Chiefs turned the ball over FIVE times and still scored 51. That is fucking insane.

Personally, I welcome teams trying to run the football. Even if they’re successful at it, you aren’t winning too often in today’s NFL with a heavy run offense.
Offensively, Steelers must stay ahead of schedule...not getting into obvious passing downs. The best way to neutralize Broncos pass rushers is keep them off balance.
The biggest fear about playing in Denver, is playing in Denver...

And oh yeah...please keep Daniel McCullers off the field.

Was I the only one watching on Monday night thinking "wow, these defenses suck"?

Also, Denver has issues stopping the run. Hopefully Conner can shake off the Jax game

How Many 'Average' QB's has this team been humiliated by? A guy that used to play for the broncos and now plays baseball was one. The list will be long. I just don't know which team will show up. Last weeks team in Jacksonville? The team that pounced the Panthers at home?

Mostly. But the Rams front four are pretty good. Big, fast, and strong.

I think both teams resigned themselves to the fact it was going to be a shootout, and didn't really concentrate on the defensive side of the ball.

But if the steelers want to compete with those guys, they will have to play 60 minutes at a very high level. Like the Panthers game.

Not many.
If you're going to go back to 2011, I can give you just as many examples of New England losing to the likes of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kevin Kolb, Geno Smith, and Jay Cutler

Excellent question. I know Feiler has been adequate, but he screwed the pooch big time of Ben's winning TD.

There's that magic year again. Last time this team beat the Patriots.

You don't need any defense if you can score 50 points. There's a good chance the other team doesn't have the talent to put up points that quick. KC, Rams, and Saints are playing at a different level right now.

Yep- he let his guy get in there to screen McDonald from any shovel pass, and then nearly blocked Ben from getting to the EZ!

I don't know about the Rams - they have a lot of talent on 'D'.

But KC has shown most of the year they will get lit up by good offenses. NE, LA, even PIT after a slow start. Our defense is playing much better now, and I think we get some key stops against them.

Their offense and Mahomes are awesome, but they are the one offense I'd bet on a playoff 'D' figuring out. Mahomes has like 10 games - defenses are finally getting enough film to see the trends and tendencies.

I did not watch the game nor the highlights, but 51 points does not yet scream figured out.

The defensive plays actually added a lot to the score. Both teams scored twice on defense (I think). Those four plays took virtually no time off the clock and added 28 points to the scoreboard.

Chiefs scored once on D, Rams scored twice. Mahomes threw 6 TDs and 3 picks. Still a ridiculous track meet.

I'm not saying he's been figured out, saying he will be by decent playoff defenses.

KC is currently on pace to be the worst defense to ever make the playoffs in terms of point allowed.

It's not that KC can score 50 points. It's that they must score 50 points, because that D isn't stopping any halfway decent offense.

I'm not saying he's been figured out, saying he will be by decent playoff defenses.

Mahomes didn't throw a pick in his first 4 games. He's thrown at least 1 in 6/7 games since (lone exception being Arizona)
He was sacked only 7 times through his first 7 games. He's been sacked 14 times in the past 5 games.

Obviously he's still putting up great numbers, but defenses are clearly picking up on something
