I am not gonna lie. I didn't think I would even see that level of athleticism out of him again. Bravo Ryan Shazier.

Thanks for sharing! Gives me chills the fact he even has any strength in his legs.

That's pretty insane progress. I still don't think he'll ever play again, but if that's the motivating factor that's keeping him progressing then keep up the dream.

I’m not sure anybody actually “doubted” Shazier but I can 100% say I never want to see him on a football field again.

From him laying on the field unable to move his legs to this is truly a miracle

He won’t play again but regaining some of his pre-injury physical ability is awesome

Yeah, I don't recall seeing anyone, anywhere doubting his recovery. But faux outrage is all the rage these days.

Eh, I have. And while I'm not outraged, I get kind of tired of the know-it-all mentality that proclaims he will never play again. Or presumes to know what he should or should not do. Its his life, he knows the risks, yadda yadda yadda.

Such mixed feelings.

I want him to realize his dream and play again, but I would be scared to death watching the whole time.

The guy is like David Goggins on a whole new level. Just unbreakable will. What an inspiration.

Saw that on instagram. Amazing.

I really hope this signals that he will be able to have a normal life. Run and play with kids. Go for a run. Find an active career that gives him meaningful work to do. This is a second chance for Shazier. I hope he sees it as a second chance at life and not a second chance at football.

Pretty sure he doesn't care what any of us think he should or shouldn't do.

His progress is amazing! While I'm not sure I ever thought he would play again, I'm starting to believe he might. It's going to be about those fast twitch muscle moves that will really determine if he can make a real comeback. I wouldn't bet against him...

He's made nice progress in 8 months - since the Friday Nights training camp vid. His foot drop in his left foot is his biggest obstacle and it's improving - slow the vid down and you can see his left foot is behind (with his toes coming up) a little. I had a very close family friend that went through a very similar recovery. It took her a good four years before she was about 100%. She was much younger, didn't have quite the level of care (still great, though) and desired end result (pro athlete) as Shazier did, of course. No matter who you are, if you're going to make a full recovery, the still body does it in it's own timeframe.

This is certainly encouraging and I wish him nothing but the best.

I agree, I think he should quit while he's ahead, great that he's getting strong and in shape, walking and hopefully running, but playing NFL football and taking NFL hits with the surgically repaired spine, I'd say NO to that. He loves the game, become a coach, or a workout guru, or something else relevant to the game. I'm sure he can continue to work with the Steelers forever if he wants to.
