Backup FS- Kam Kelly??
I liked the kid coming out of SDSU last year. For whatever reason he washed out of Dallas. Tracks the ball well even though he’s not the most fluid out there. Could be a good backup centerfielder if anything happens to Davis.
Plays special teams too. Should finally put Jordan Dangerfield out to pasture.

A try hard kid with some ball skills. Athleticism is meh with mediocre at best testing. Has size and length at 6'2 w/ 32" arms. Has a knack for finding the ball and the kid shows no quit and makes plays around the ball all day long. I have him making my early 53, my long shot player this year. He will have to show he can be a ST's player. He's flexible as you'd see in his college and AAF career. Played corner and safety in college. Played QB in high school and was played at WR in the AAF but switched back to corner/safety. Doesn't have great long speed @ 4.66 40 and that's where the motor comes into play with this kid. Won't quit. Ran a 6.94 3 cone and a 4.28 short shuttle so he has some short area quicks. The impressive part about this kid is his ability to make plays finding the ball and INT's.
I am all for him pushing Jordan Dangerfield off the roster. I think Jordan is a vastly over rated special teams player and we need new blood on special teams. If Kelly can play STs and is a better option on defense in being the 4th safety, then so be it. Still tend to think they sign a free agent safety late after some cuts are made.

I don't think they will enough money to sign anyone other than a rookie or 2nd year player.

Kelly seems to have a high football IQ. I rooting for this guy he has a nose for the ball.

There is still gold in them thar hills!! That is my way of saying that there is still meat to cut off the bone, salary cap-wise.
I think Artie Burns will be cut or traded, freeing up $1.75 million. Signing Nelson, and two 3rd rounders in Justin Layne and Cam Sutton, they have options now at CB.
Joe Haden, I think he will see an extension. He loves being a Steeler and the Steelers love him. He has a cap hit of $11.9 million this season, with a $10 million base.
They could offer him a two year extension, that pays him a $12 million signing bonus and $25 million overall. They could lower his $10 million base this season to $1 million with 2020 and 2021 bases being $6 million each.
For 2019 he would have a $1 million base, $1.9 million left from his old pro rated signing bonus and a new $4 million pro rated signing bonus added. So, instead of a $11.9 million cap hit, Joe instead only counts $6.9 million, freeing up $5 million.
Now some may argue that Joe may not go for that lowball offer, I disagree, he knows that he is in the twilight of his career and that the grass is not always greener. Anyway, cut Burns, extend Joe and poof, you have $6.75 million to add to the $1.25 million that we have in cap space, bringing the total to $8 million. That is plenty enough money to still make a late push to add a veteran player, like a McDonald or Haden and still have that $3-4 million cushion for the season.

You know what I'd like to see unfold Scunge. Marcus Allen has had a year of conditioning/seasoning. I think it would best serve the Steelers to get this kid going. I don't believe they need a veteran safety. Besides, they hired Barron already. They've got Davis and Edmunds. I think it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to say either Allen and or Kelly would be the guys going forward. Both would fill dual roles, playing ST's as well as safety in certain packages. Barron fills the hybrid role. M. Allen could very well be in that same role especially with a vet like Barron showing him the ropes along with Austin and Bradley coaching. M. Allen has the athleticism and smarts. Spend that money elsewhere, perhaps a 3rd TE. All speculatory but still plausible.

This is yet another reason to despise a piece of shit player like jagoff small chest and even smaller head brown. Without some shuffling in the ranks as far as contracts go the Steelers are pretty much set. I can see Burns $ coming off the books if he's excused. That would be a small start. Not sure why Brian Allen is listed in the dead money category... doesn't look like he was cut.If we were hoping for the Steelers to bring in a safety like Tre Boston or another notable free agent (TE), it's not in the books. As of this current figure @ Over The Cap the Steelers are in Cap trouble. Their dead money amount is killing them.
Team Cap Space: $1,091,292

Antonio Brown $21,120,000

Brian Allen $115,094
