Never second guess Mike Tomlin.

It was eleventy dimensional thinking that he had his first round pick still in the game in the second quarter.

Fear it’s an ACL and out for season, just based on what I’m reading

Truly unbelievable this happens two years in a row

Very damaging to D, he was gonna be a force this year

I read that Harmon is dressed in street clothes on the sideline, without crutches

If true, that’s encouraging

I think at this point I would keep Waitman. Try to trade Cam Johnston.

Well it’s not the HC’s fault thankfully

He puts players in position to make plays

As usual they’re letting him down with a lack of discipline and focus

He walked out in sweats and sat between Heyward and Watt talking and laughing. I’d assume that’s a good sign. The injury didn’t look bad, I didn’t see any awkward bend of the knee and nobody fell on it. Probably a mild sprain or possible bruise from banging the knee on the hard turf.

“Harmon has a knee sprain of some description” according to the wordsmith Mike Tomlin.

I thought on Defense 78 53 and 72 played well. Offense it was 17 and 13

Did anyone notice how many times the Steelers threw it short of the sticks on 3rd down? I remember 1 time late in the game. Any other instances?

Going with skylar over Mason seems like the kind of thing Tomlin simply won’t do, no matter what they do on the field. Nor will he goes with a now proven waitman at punter.
That's Tomlin. Inexplicable stubbornness to the end.

They said sprain and he was on the sidelines with no crutches or wrap on the knee. I think he is out a week or so.

In other news, Yahya Black is pretty good

I noticed how often the panthers threw it past the sticks on 3rd and long. And kept converting all game long.

It’s a staple, or I should say part of the “standard” of our offense.

Throwing past the sticks is scary. Almost as scary as throwing over the middle.

Must be avoided at all cost.

short of the sticks on third only makes sense if momentum forward gets you past the sticks

This offense playcalling again comes in question. I don’t get the inability to throw pass the sticks. They don’t have their Wr drive pass the sticks. Their Run defense gave up a bunch of Run yards which is kinda alarming. I like what Black showed yesterday and 72 showed some good hustle.

Throwing short of the sticks on 3rd down is what coaches want them to do instead of taking a sack. It’s the 3rd down equivalent of a punt.

All those short passes were because the QB was going to be sacked ?

Rhey teach QBs to have a clock. If you don’t have a play in a certain amount of time, dump it off.

Yep, because "3 things happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad". Take the free 7 yards and punt! That's how you NHALS....

And I see a lot of teams, every week, throwing short of the sticks, A LOT. The hope is to pick up the first with RAC. But PIT seems to do it more than anyone. Tomlin would rather play it safe than risk an interception or sack trying to throw beyond the sticks. That whole "we don't live in our fears" thing.

By the way, remember all the times Ben would go shotgun and empty set on 3rd and 2? Playing for the long hand-off in place of the run, because those teams couldn't convert 3rd and short running to save their lives.
