That's where I am too. I think Fields' ceiling is bottom half of the league (probably bottom 12) starting QB. I think he'd be a decent option for long term back-up like Charlie Batch or Byron Leftwich, but I haven't seen enough to justify giving him a starter's contract. If sitting him for awhile saves a 4th round pick, then I'm all for it.Deebo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 5:14 pmThis is my greatest fear of the year.
JF will be just "good enough" where they think they can develop him further.
But news flash: JF is right now who he will always be. You cannot hitch your long term wagon to him. He's not going to move the needle.
So in a sense, JF is the perfect Tomlin QB...

When Jibbs is no longer the HC. Even if they backdoored their way in, they will be playing on the road and will once again get destroyed.

I take it you didn't read my post on the last page as to the 4th Rd picks drafted since 2007. It's a train wreck. You really believe Jibbs will draft someone that will help this team.W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 5:55 pmThat's where I am too. I think there's a better chance Khan and Tomlin draft a good player with the 2025 4th round pick than there is of Justin Fields ever developing into a top-10 franchise QB type player. I'd rather we try again at QB than spend a few years (and a lot of cap space) pretending Fields is a franchise QB. Maybe I am wrong and JF is franchise caliber, but I just don't see it.gojira5150 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 7:50 pmI take it you didn't read my post on the last page as to the 4th Rd picks drafted since 2007. For which team?
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."
