Just to summarize:

Steelers get:
Pick 3.98 (Eagles comp pick)
A pair of 2025 7th rounders (Eagles had FOUR 7th round picks next year)

Eagles get:
Pick 4.20
Kenny Pickett
So basically two 7th round picks

I posted a couple of days ago a source I know said Pickett was very upset.

Still shocking.
Honestly, this just shows he's not a competitor to me. Would rather go to a team that has a bonafide QB1 rather than fight for his spot. Good riddance.
I have to agree. HE could have gotten better sitting on the bench behind Wilson but chose to have a hissyfit

Let the record also show that little Kenny Pickett was a massive twat who refused to dress at the end of the season when he wasn’t playing and asked for a trade instead of trying to compete with an old washed up Russell Wilson. Now he’s a back up to a top 10 QB, who just so happens to be younger than him and locked up for the next three years. Ken’s career is over.

This has MT written all over it, though.

Well Pickett never got a fair shake with Canada being the OC.

I know some of you had him written off already. I was pretty close as well, but my write off had asterisks.

Hope it blows up in Tomlin's face and then we can get a new head coach that knows offense or can hire people that will actually develop into a coaching tree.

Thought the Wilson trade was good with Pickett in the mix and each pushing each other for a starting job.

Now the Wilson trade is awful!

Guaranteed elbow or Achilles injury coming up!

I will add the caveat that if they pull off a big draft move for a bonafide FQB, then it was a genius move. But if we go riding into the season with Wilson and some scrubs….JHFC!
They didn’t trade for Wilson lol

Picket was never going to make it. He has too many deficiencies

and clearly a shitty attitude
Courted. Probably right about deficiencies. It is a business…yada yada yada. They better come up with something else besides Wilson.

this is great news for me. Reinforces my confidence in evaluating qbs. Never liked pickett. Didn't think he would be the guy. I did think they should give him another year with new cord but they knew. I was totally right about him.

Wow. Didn't think we had it in us.

That opens up getting a QB in round 1.
I'm hoping they bring in Penix. Let him sit a year behind Russ

Totally nuts…..craziest FA period ever

We need two QBs

One is Tannehill right?
Justin Fields?
Wow! You may be right

Edit - with money needed for Russ and Justin I can’t see it
We all know how Tomlin feels about Fields. With each passing day, the draft gets closer and the Bears asking price gets cheaper. Fields isn’t expensive in 2024, and there’s nothing that keeps a team from negotiating a new contract instead of picking up the 5th year option for 2025.
Russ is making peanuts.
Even if the Steelers bring in Tannehill, they’ll need a young guy. That’s someone like JF or a draft pick.
With all the needs they have, I can’t see them picking QB before day three.
It’s probably not a stretch to think that Tomlin believes in Fields potential. Trading Pickett makes way for bringing him in.
I’m not predicting it will happen but it won’t shock me if it does.

In terms of the offense….should anyone have been on board? They are throwing people off the burning train!

Should offensive players getting thrown off a burning train be thankful? Below was the Steelers offense last year. Probably would be better if the train was not moving.

No a bad choice.

Also, Dobbs, Tannehill, Fields, Wentz and Woodside are the other names that come to mind. And/or a draft pick, of course.

Bingo.

In his defense, maybe he recognized he's not getting the coaching he needs to be successful, and/or perhaps the offense. Not that I'm a believer in him, but I'm sure he realized he had one foot out the door of the NFL and needed a fresh start.

This. Steelers Nation just needed to see their team in the playoffs so we were pulling for guys like Mitch and Mason to eek out a few more wins…

and Kenny is refusing to dress to do whatever he can to help his team and fanbase out.

Case is closed on this guy. Good riddance.

Yeah, I’m not concerned about who they fill the QB room with this season, because barring Wilson playing out of his mind, this is a 1 year “prove it” deal

Maybe for Tomlin too.

Only pick I give up for Fields is our 5th round pick.
1-20
2-51
3-84, 98
4-119
5 - None
6-195
7-None
Need a C, T, DL, WR, S, CB with those first 5 picks.

Get the OL straight before you draft a QB.

Huntley just seems like he checks all the boxes you'd get with Fields and he'd come cheaper, which is why I brought him up

I do not give up draft capital for Fields.

I don't see it this way at all. This is Rooney giving Tomlin the green light to do whatever the fuck he wants, but to get it done. Tomlin's seat may be getting warm, but he aint the door next year.

This is as proximate to a rebuild as you can get without rebuilding by unloading the superest super stars.

Just reported on 93.7 he was traded because of how poorly he handled the Russell Wilson acquisition. After refusing to be the emergency QB late in the year, that did it.

I'm shocked because it opens up more holes on O. We are down to one QB and really one real WR on offense. That's not a good place to be a week into free agency with only 6 draft picks. The FO and Tomlin really must have been pissed at Kenny.

I still don't understand how Fields would work. We have so many holes still...we can't afford to give away more draft capital...and we aren't going to pay Fields either. That seems like a waste of breath.

I think they are going to go cheap vet plus mid-round pick. Problem is Joe Milton and Spencer Rattler suck. Michael Pratt is OK, but won't likely ever be a #1.
