It's an analogy. Those things that are on the SAT?

I don't think it was that hard to understand. Yet again, with the personal attacks.

From the almighty Tomlin post game.....
“I'm not going to accept it, they can't accept it,” Tomlin said. “It happened, but we've got to make the necessary corrections to move forward and make sure it doesn't happen again. These games are too precious.”
http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/676 ... z3D70BVBST

The almighty has spoken and the results are going to be in the next game, the game after that and so on and so forth. Waiting patiently to watch as Tomlin Unleashes Hell.

Honestly, This Needed to be the mentality to start the season. At first I thought it was as the route was on in Pittsburgh. Then The Second Half had to be played. Much like tomlin's cliched drivel the team proceeded to take a huge shit on themselves and their fans. Last night was just an extension of that second half abortion last week. Get it fixed? Can't Fucking Wait!

Every foundation needs the first block laid. Even if you're going 100 stories, you start with a single block. If that block fails, the whole operation fails. Your visions of grandeur are great, you just don't understand how to build them.

To more accurately put it, they need to be a hugely successful run team, they need to figure out how to control the line of scrimmage

Thats not going to happen until they fix the OLine. I think I'm preaching to choir when I say that. Fix the OLine and fix this offense.

One lesson I learned as I matured was sometimes the best course is to say less.

I think Mike could learn from this.

After last night I would just have said "We sucked." That's it.

I'm tired of the bullshit he spews following a debacle like last nights game. And games similar which has become more often than not. Like what he says is going to magically change anything? Actions speak louder than words coach. Prove it on the damn field next game and keep proving it game after game. Still very hot from last night I guess forgive my lashing out folks.

Troy has to accept what he has now for tools and adjust his game accordingly. I think he can still be a great safety, but the "play-like-his-hair's-on-fire" Troy doesn't work anymore. Should be playing like a typical SS, not some wildcard rover x factor.

A guy who's mailing it in doesn't leap the center to block a chip shot FG in garbage time

He may not be Troy Polamalu of old, but he can still close like a cat

People need to understand every time he comes flying up in run support it's really not always his play to make...this team doesn't swarm the ball like it use to...TP has always forced plays to slow or go deeper...there just isn't the clean up crew there use to be.

We are 1-1...it's a marathon, not a sprint. I can remember looking this bad mid season...then Lake move to cb and we were SB bound. Not a prediction, I'm all fotr bitching...but even as a high expectations fan I'm not mailing it in week 2.

Quoted for accuracy. Well stated Z.

I felt sad watching Troy do that. Sacrificing his body to make a meaningless play. Even if he would have blocked that FG we still would have lost by 20.

I love the guy...he truly plays to win...even if winning is impossible. He is one of the 300, facing millions of Persians.

I didnt feel sad at all, and the play wasnt meaningless to Troy, we need more players who dont consider any play to be "meaningless"

You can't turn the ball over 3 times while getting 0, commit 9 penalties for 75 yards, and miss open receivers in critical situations and expect to win on the road on a short week against a desperate team.

I guess you could argue some of that is talent, but Ben is not an issue obviously, penalties are not necessarily talent related, not getting turnovers certainly is, but i don't think turning it over is, just focus.

The biggest thing i noticed was lack of intensity which just is not acceptable.

Are we really just noticing this?!
We've been accepting it going on three seasons now...

This team is done winning football games on reputation.
This team strikes fear into nobody, and has zero intimidation factor.

There are still individual standouts, but they are falling and fading into the sunset.
If this season continues to go as it portends and Ben gets a glimpse beyond his selfless loyalty when it's over, I fear he could leave to find better sunsets elsewhere.
Lest we forget, his bosom chum is likely on speed dial.

The problems with this team are systemic, and won't be fixed until there's a new message from the top.
For that, the Rooneys will have to shoot the messenger...

I'd really like to see more spaeth helping out the pass protection and giving us time to threaten downfield, and less justin brown / insert 3rd receiver here.

Bears liked their top 2 wrs, te, and rb last season, and they basically never put a 3rd wr out there. Seemed to work okay. Helps you run as well.

I didn't hate our offense in general yesterday, but if we're always going to be staring up at long fields and our D is going to be giving up a good share of points, we're going to need a lot of big plays on O, and those are going to continue to be hard to come by if the ball is always coming out quick.

StillerInCT wrote:The OLine being the problem is bullshit. If you watch the game Ben was looking to release about 1-2 seconds after the snap on just about the majority of pass plays. Blame the OLine all you want (it has some warts). The reason we didn't make a single throw over 20+ yards is all scheme/play calling. At the very LEAST we could have tried for the token PI call.. But we didn't.

If you watched the Cincy game (I did) then the reason why they were throwing short stuff is obvious- the Ravens couldn't defend it.

The Steelers had the plays there, they just din't make them.

From a "strategy" perspective, the strategy was more or less sound. From an "execution" perspective, it sucked... Ben needs to find more than 5 receivers for passes, tho- that is where I fault Haley. I know it's a short week and all, but if you are going to give Spaeth, Will Johnson and DHB jerseys they need to get a target or two per game.

that's what being successful in the run game does to an opponent.

Ravens came off a week of distractions where they should've got their asses kicked and they came out and slowed the game down, imposed their will, and beat the fuck out of that defense

And did it with Justin Dorsett. Ugh.

Except our TEs do not help in the run game. I guaranfuckintee you through two games, our YPC with more than 1 TE or TE/FB is worse than our run YPC with 1 TE. I want 3 WR for the run game and 2 TE for the pass game LOL how fucked is that?

Well if you were going to play with 2 TE sets or with a FB, the Ravens were the team to do it against... Because you had their shitty CB's playing a ton of off coverage and you can get matchups on a LB corps I didn't think was all that.

Could you change up the offense on a short week?

I would have tried. You have J Brown going into a hostile environment and he's your 3rd best option on his best day.

How I see it. People don't have to agree.
