Tomlin is gone - Official!
Re: Tomlin is gone - Official!
Tomlin/Steeler week was Tom Brady's favorite. He barely had to work up a sweat in preparation for our D which was a) predictable and b) prone to busted coverages. Chris Hogan anyone?
No way Brady wants to hire Tomlin. He'll praise him like a Vince Lombardi in public but he won't mean a word of it.

Wasn't it Cowher though who invented, "we do what we do."franco32 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 2:37 amTomlin/Steeler week was Tom Brady's favorite. He barely had to work up a sweat in preparation for our D which was a) predictable and b) prone to busted coverages. Chris Hogan anyone?

My gut told me that this year would be the yearThrillsseeker wrote: ↑Wed Jan 14, 2026 6:20 pmBefore the season, I too using my gut/feelings thought this would be Tomlins last year. Preached it! Then tempered my feelings when I found out, he was under contract through 2027. When it was announced March 1, they had to make a decision to keep him through 2027. I went right back to this could be the year. This could be the year. This could be the year. What a glorious ending in the fourth quarter. When they weren’t going to win, the scoop & score and the pick six happened, I found myself giggling, chuckling about the catastrophe unfolding in front of me. Kept thinking while we’re losing hope they keep piling on and this is what pushes Tomlin out the door.
I think he will not coach in 2026. Stepping away from coaching was uttered. Probably because he’s done with coaching and will end up on network tv.
As far as comp, I heard that if he coaches anywhere in 2026 or 2027, the Steelers would get compensation. Or could get compensation. I don’t think it matters, he’ll get offers and calls inquiring but he’s headed to TV.
Too many signs, stories, out of the ordinary info, same movie production, same disjointed results
I would trust my gut over Tomlins any day
But heck it’s pretty much looking like hearing the noise on his overstaying was oozing at every turn

I thought Cowher's slogan was "It is what it is". I know that's a common phrase now, but Cowher is the first person I remember hear using it.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 3:07 amWasn't it Cowher though who invented, "we do what we do."franco32 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 2:37 amTomlin/Steeler week was Tom Brady's favorite. Cowher absolutely schemed to the opponent
To my recollection, Tomlin started the we do what we do, around the time he pronounced the you paint your barn red because you have red paint, edict

Oh...Cowher was def "we do what we do," except starting out SB XXX against cowboys and NOT going with 5 wides from the outset. All this love for Cowher now, but you going back to the years preceding this esteemed website, on stiller.com and screen names of "kill cowher" (now KC) and "fuck Cowher" (would become FC). There was good reason for that.anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 2:02 pmI could be wrong, but I don’t recall that at allswissvale72 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 3:07 amWasn't it Cowher though who invented, "we do what we do."franco32 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 2:37 amTomlin/Steeler week was Tom Brady's favorite. At the end, I wanted Cowher gone as much as anyone.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 2:19 pmOh...Cowher was def "we do what we do," except starting out SB XXX against cowboys and NOT going with 5 wides from the outset. And while he did indeed lineup to play Smash Mouth football- as stated previously aside from games against the Patriots, I am hard pressed to recall instances of the team being Schematically out coached.
We all know that happened on a regular basis with Tomlin
In memoriam...
