Yep!I’d rather him than Flores or Weaver.

Why is kc leaving ?
I didn't watch any games this year and it sucked. I'm going to hold out some hope that he at least brings in a high level DC and some good position coaches, something Tomlin NEVER did. If he's basically just the OC and let's a good DC do his thing, this might not be a total disaster.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

The odds of KC actually leaving are lower than the odds of the Steelers winning the SB next year.

I’m sure McCarthy will do something good things. Just enough though to get Dunce Rooney’s lil spud a chubby.
What a fucking coward he is going with the safe move.
And let’s not forget the “Pittsburgh Guy”.

Most of these guys said when Ben done. I Am done.
Still here lol
They will still make the playoffs. Maybe they lose on round round again. But they will get tons of breaks and get in playoffs like usual. Well maybe not get the breaks . I think league favored Tomlin and helped Steelers win a few they deserved to lose. But I don’t get all the crying on here. It’s not like McCarthy is gong to turn then into the jets. Unless you really want them to have a 4 abd 13 season. I don’t think most on here could handle it. Not you. You guys like Swiss kc would lose their shit of this team tanked for a few years.

McCarthy is almost half the fraud Tomlin was. I’ve watched him more closely during his Dallas days. He mailed in most of the games.Jtf wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 3:43 amThey will still make the playoffs. Maybe they lose on round round again. Wait a second i was told here a week ago it wouldn't be a bad thing if the PS went 4-13 next year as a rebuild. Now we are being told to hang the new coach if that happens.

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
I mean, Tomlin pretty much copy and pasted his gameplan each week anyway. He may have had some wrinkles for his defense, but overall approach was almost always the same week to week. McCarthy can coast if he hires better assistants.DumlinBumlinStumlin wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 4:40 amMcCarthy is almost half the fraud Tomlin was. The key to making the McCarthy hire work is going to be finding the QB in the next 2-3 years. Which is going to be tough to do if they don't bottom out even if not impossible.

McCarthy has said “per reports “ in his interviews that he wants to develop Howard

McCarthy plays the nice guy schtick and I guarantee he went in there trying to tell Art II just what he thought the old schmuck wanted to hear.DumlinBumlinStumlin wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 5:36 pmMcCarthy has said “per reports “ in his interviews that he wants to develop Howard

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he knows he'll get a few years and knows he isn't landing the QB this draft. If he can sell Art II that he can develop Howard it's maybe the best case scenario for the franchise. If Howard actually succeeds to some extent, that's great. If he doesn't, you likely fail and end up with a higher draft pick that Art II is loathe to accept they need.
In the meantime use the draft picks they do have to try and build the roster up.
It shouldn't be necessary to fool the dopey owner, but I think that's where we are.
And this reinforces what I said about Ben's bullshit take on all this. He almost certainly had inside info on all of this and was more interested in appearing right in public than being insightful.

I think this is a short term ploy to fix the fundamentals and put in a solid coaching streucture, so that a young HC can come in and have a reasonable chance at being successful. I think the Steelers knew whomever coaches this team for the next 2 years is going to have a lof of baggage to get rid of, and they dont want to put that on a rookie HC, McCarthy makes sense as a stopgap,

Kind of tired of grown assed men being teen drama queens. He'll be back bitching and changing his mind about McCarthy week to week.
