Mike McCarthy’s time in Dallas.

2020 - OC Kellen Moore - Current HC of NO Saints
DC Mike Nolan - Current HC of Michigan Panthers

2021 - OC Kellen Moore - Current HC of NO Saints
DC Dan Quinn - Current HC of Washington Commies

2022 - OC Kellen Moore - Current HC of NO Saints
DC Dan Quinn - Current HC of Washington Commies

2023 - OC Brian Schottenheimer - Current HC of Dallas Cowboys
DC Dan Quinn - Current HC of Washington Commies

2024 - OC Brian Schottenheimer - Current HC of Dallas Cowboys
DC Mike Zimmer - Current DC of Dallas Cowboys

He seemed to surround himself with decent assistants. Oh, and he’s from Pittsburgh.

It’s all I got.

Mike Tomlin and NHALS - The embodiment of the soft bigotry of lowered expectations.

We see whom he adds as coordinators. He does have a long history so maybe they finally hit there

Hoping McCarthy hires younger, innovative up and coming DC and OC but his recent track record above indicates otherwise.

They're saving dozens of dollars in not having to replace the "Mike" nameplates on the head coach's office.

I suspect that the main factor in having top up-and-coming young coaches is a willingness to pay to have top young up-and-coming coaches.

I don’t think McCarthy helps address that. Although if i’m wrong on this, he could prove it.

McCarthy isn't really a step back from Tomlin, but the hire indicates a few things to me:
1. Art II really buys into his bullshit and probably whatever Mediocre MIke 1.0 was selling him.
2. We're in for more of the same. They're going to keep patching up the roster the best they can and try to punch their ticket to the dance just to get demolished.

It just means more of the same to me.

This sucks for sure, but MM at least has hired people with brains before. Tomlin never did. We have to hope for the best and nail the draft.

there is no silver lining
everyone has to do with that what they will
we apparently now must wait for Art to leave
or the hand of god to gift us a young QB like Ben

You want a silver lining? Look at the immediate backlash on social media.

Zero chance the legacy media puppets can spin this move as well-received.

the steeler fans reaction around the interweb are almost universally disgusted

"The Steelers had a chance this offseason to hit the reset button, taking a chance on a young up-and-coming coach and letting him learn the ropes as they laid the foundation for the next era of this franchise. Instead, it appears the organization wants to keep treading water and running the same things back that have not worked out for other franchises. A once storied franchise seems aimlessly lost right now with a future that gets increasingly bleaker by the year."

At least we don't have to hear Weaver's cliches about violence or have Flores snap on our future QB in a millisecond. That's the only thing keeping me sane right now.

This. Still stuck in NHALS purgatory.

Art 2 may have been a bigger problem than Tomlin.

At least Mediocre Mike II is to old to coach the Steelers for as long as Noll, Cowher and Tomlin did. If he doesn't deliver I am hoping he'll be gone when Art II steps down.
Maybe The Steelers will at least hire a worthy OC and DC.
Other than that

Silver lining: the Rooney rule complaints for the new HC hiring, at least, magically disappear. Will weight, sloppiness, laziness, mediocrity, time management remain? Which new ones will be added?

All sports radio. NFL ,93.7 the fan and social media are 90% not in favor of this hire

More backlash is necessary to get Art the fuck along down the retirement roadway
