Let’s see how many of these guys are employed next season.
I’m betting the list will be very, very small.

Going to be a very small list, Artie will probably get an OC gig somewhere, rest will probably end up coaching in high school or DIII.

Associate Professors at the Matt Canada coaching academy
Given how bd the Titans' owner is at decision-making, he may very well get the Tennessee gig.StillerDownSouth wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 11:04 pmCoolShades wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 11:02 pmLet’s see how many of these guys are employed next season.

Bleach it. Hose it down. And get a Priest in there to cleanse it afterwards.

No. I want no one with even a slight lingering stank of Tomlin on them hanging around, including hubba bubba.

2025 was the first year since haley left that i haven’t hated our assistant coaches. Other than meyer, he sucks, but this didn’t affect him because his contract was over anyway.

Yeah that Arthur Smith is a real hoot
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
does this include coordinators?
i will admit that the fichtner/canada experience may have dramatically lowered my expectations, but scoring 45 TD with an offense that has 0.88 NFL wide receivers is an ‘at or above The Line’ result for me.
That was my first thought as well.CoolShades wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 11:02 pmLet’s see how many of these guys are employed next season.

Its good that they will be able to look for work while only one head coach spot has been filled and 8 to go with many coordinator positions to fill around the league. Nice deed by the Steelers front office.
1. I would imagine all 7 or 8 coaches interviewed mentioned that they will not be keeping a single coach
2. Many coaches that have been dismissed under Tomlin have gotten on with their life's work.
See coaching tree
See barren tree.

He probably sticks them under his desk at work.
One thing is good, we don't have to worry about Dino Tomlin becoming the next OC or head coach.

I’d bet many of them will probably have success when they are allowed to finally coach without the conservative yoke of Tomlin. Pretty sure he was a micro manager too.CoolShades wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 11:02 pmLet’s see how many of these guys are employed next season.

Pretty sure Tomlin overheard saying “you can run any play you like as long as it is a black model T.”

Good. Maybe we can get a DC that doesn't play off coverage down 2 TDs with 10 minutes left.
You wonder why sports hacks like Kaboly and others can't take the next logical step in their minds about this.
The new coach is going to be allowed to choose his staff.
They kept Cowher's staff for Tomlin when he came in.
They should think about the message that is sending.

Clearing the deck would seem to indicate two things
1 the organization was more aware of the coaching failures then we believed
2 the new head coach will be in charge of implementing whatever system and staff he chooses.
I am hoping this means that the organization is identified the need to change the entirety of the scheme
Truthfully? This does not sound like Art! Someone has a bug in his ear influencing things. This sounds like Danny! I have the feeling he is going to have a big voice in how all this plays out. After all, much sooner than later, he will be running the team so might as well listen to him a bit more or he will once again need to clean house for any mistakes made he doesn't like.

He be gone unless hes brought back
Buccaneers interviewed Steelers ST cDanny Smith for the same role.
A true veteran of the game, Smith, 72, has spent the last 13 seasons leading the Steelers’ special teams unit, and spent time as the special teams coordinator for the Bills (2001-2003), and Commanders (2004-2012) before that. Smith’s special teams units with the Steelers were often some of the best the league had to offer, making him an enticing candidate for the Buccaneers, who struggled mightily in that area last year.
