Fa part 2

Post by steelmann58 » Sun Apr 28, 2024 3:26 am

I have a feeling that Omar has it already planned to add at least 1 if not 2 Fa by next week. I can see a combo of WR or Cb or S

1) Cam Sutton - fix Nickel
2) Justin Simmons - bump Eliott to dime back
3) Courtland Sutton - make a play for him with 2025 5th

make those moves and it is ON!

They need DLine help big-time.

Kind of expect Tyler Boyd after 4:00 pm. Would rather get Russell Gage tho.

Omar has a lot of work to do.

Deebo, I do agree with you on DLine. If Cam continues to slow down and Larry O gets his usual injuries early, we are screwed on Dline. Loudermilk and Leal suck. Benton and Adams can't do it all. Lee isn't ready yet. I do think we need one more body there.

CB? There is no one out there except Sutton right now. Sutton is perfect for slot. Obviously we have to double check where he is with his program, but if he's on track to complete his counseling, then I'd sign him ASAP to a cheap deal. This concept that everyone on your team is a choir boy is so delusional. Glad we are getting past that.

WR? Sutton would be a nice addition, but at what cost? He's pricey although he only has 2 million guaranteed on his remaining 2 years. I just don't think the Broncos will let him go. They already got rid of Jeudy and they will want Nix to have a security blanket of some sort. (Troy Franklin can't be it.)

There’s not going to be any more help on d-line.

Dean Lowry was a nice pick up for the D line. He can play. Not saying they don't need more help, but you didn't mention him.

My guess:

Tyler Boyd - his price will come down enough that it will make sense.

Cam Sutton - this one is obvious after the meeting last week. Decent in the slot, would fill a hole.

Justin Simmons - I don't think it's going to happen, but it would be nice.

Forgot about Lowry. Journeyman depth. Still feel like we need one more that is more impactful.

I don't think we'll go for Boyd anymore since we have Roman Wilson

Agree- I think the WR ship has sailed. They'll focus on the Dside of the ball in FA: Dline, Slot CB, Safety

Apparently, Courtland Sutton is out do to Denver thinking they have Brees 2.0

Personally, for the CB room, I offer Cam Sutton $2M to come back to us and rebuild his image -- like Russ, I believe he's already getting paid by a team (DET) (it would only cost us $1M cap space after replacement offset. Or, I offer Stephon Gilmore/Steven Nelson (whichever one accepts) $5M. If no takers, I would offer Tre Herndon $2.5M. Let JPJ, DJ, and one of the above be our CB1/2/3 in whatever order works best.

For the S room, I offer Justin Simmons $7M to take Kazee's roster spot (and use his $3M cut savings to offset -- only costing us $4M cap after offset), or, I offer Adrian Amos/Rudy Ford /Tashaun Gipson (whichever one is the best fit and accepts) a spot for $1-2M to take Kazee's spot and apply the $1-2M cap savings towards upgrading another spot.

For the DL room, I offer Calais Campbell/Fletcher Cox (whichever one accepts) $5-7M to play DL4.

As for the WR room, if we are only shopping in the current FA aisle, I offer OBJ (yuk) $5M+ incentives, or D.J. Chark/Marquez Valdes-Scantling $3M (whichever one accepts). If no takers, I wait for future team cutdowns and reassess. Although, the best move might still be to trade for a younger, top tier WR (i.e. Aiyuk/Higgins/Deebo/Sutton) if the price is right.

We already have the cap to do much of this, but if we wanted to do all of it, we have multiple available cap $ spots to do so: in no particular order.....Cam Heyward/James Daniels/Cole Holcomb/Nate Herbig/Elandon Roberts/Damontae Kazee/Dan Moore.

Just my take.

I think DJ Chark is closer to happening every day the trade market continues to fizzle.

Bud Dupree makes a ton of sense in some ways, but him not being a STs guy makes that unlikely.

If I had to guess one surprise signing, make it Robert Tonyan, Jr.. He's a fit for the system and he might be had on the cheap to try and prove he's not injured/injury-prone.

I think Dj or Wr via the Trade. Cb should be interesting to see who they add
