Is there anyone in the CFL worth poaching to quarterback in 2020? Whoever they got isn't going to get the job done & if Bad Ben is what's going to come back - that's not going to do it, either.

Well thats surprising... seriously, I see Ben on the sidelines and he looks like Matt Patricia. If I didnt know any better I’d think he was a career coach. Ben was never the fittest dude, but it looks like he’s physically checked out. But I HOPE he has the desire to get back out there.

I’d make a run at Bridgewater or even Marcus Mariota.
Mariota has been very meh but a lot of folks said the same thing about Ryan Tannehill and he’s arguably been league MVP the last 6 weeks.
Bridgewater would add an interesting element to this offense. He’s pretty good.

If he does, does anyone know how his cap hit would look.
$25 million in dead cap next year if he retires, only saving $8.5 million on the cap. That is, if they didn’t work out some reimbursement of his signing bonus for unplayed time, which I seriously doubt the Steelers would ever pursue.Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 9:25 pmIf he does, does anyone know how his cap hit would look.

I would sign a QB that can sling the rock all over the field. Bridgewater and Mariota do not meet that criterion.
If Ben retires, I would sign Rivers as a stopgap. And I would continue to give Rudolph every chance to keep his job. Lynch would also be in the mix.

It would count as a cut...however via arbitration there is the option for the Steelers to use arbitration to get back any prorated signing bonus.Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 9:25 pmIf he does, does anyone know how his cap hit would look.

Anyone that thinks, reports, or believes that Ben is leaving money on the table and retires next year makes Cousin Eddie look like a Mensa member.

I don't know shit about elbow operations but having to reattach 3 tendons doesn't sound good.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
That's actually the most we've heard about what Ben's surgery was.

Agreed; so he tore three tendons in his elbow? Is that Tommy John injury?

P.S. Contrary to recent reports out there about my football future and my ‘uncertainty’ about playing again, I am working hard and am more determined than ever to come back stronger and better than ever next year!
