Would need to scrub the tape, but from live watch it appears we have a few things to iron out, if you will.
I think the D and running game will be fine, nothing like they looked tonight. Ben...hopefully will figure it out too. Our WR situation does appear to be legitimately terrible.
Positives? Tomlin gets fired and PIT gets #1 pick.

Ahh... I don't really see the d being fine anytime soon.

I actually disagree with this statement. It is simply just talent evaluation. The coaches ranking of the wide receiver Corp is the problem, and a proper distribution of passes according to a proper ranking of the talent is the problem.
What a shit ranking of the WR talent.
We arguably weren't the worst team in the NFL this week (maybe the Dolphins were worse, it's close).
*roots for losses*
Good receivers have 1-2 drops ALL YEAR. Monqueef dropped 4 in the first game.

100% dead on Lake.
Get your best and most dynamic players on the field most of the time.
JuJu...
Plus Washingtons deep threat and Johnsons quickness.
Also, McDonald not being targeted until the 2 minute warning is negligent...
While we painfully watched Moncrief and Switz steel 16-17 targets.

Switz might be the worst slot receiver we have ever had, and Moncrief was down right horrible tonight. I would get Washington and Johnson in there ASAP, give them a chance to grow, cause them other two dudes suck balls.

Yep
Absolutely pointless to have Moncrief or Switzer on the field. Both are horrible.

I did not understand the WR ranking AT ALL.
Washington is obviously better than Switzer...and if they feel he can't do the slot, he was better than Moncrief.
And McDonald should have been the #2 WR, essentially.
It was so bad I almost thought they were sandbagging.

I have Switz at WR 5. I believe he caught all his targets and had two 3rd down conversions. He played exactly how I expected him to...definitely was in the lineup too much though.
I fully expected JuJu WR1 and JW WR2...,,wasn’t even close to being WR2. As Franco put it, I think he banged Tomlin's wife or something.
Tomlin was on the hot seat....Ray Sherman moves to the Hot Seat too.

Switz and Moncrief were targeted 16 times with 9 catches for 36 total yards. That Is not going to win any games.

I know he didnt get much of a chance tonight but did any of you guys think Conner looked very average? I love the guy but i just saw no explosion at all. Maybe it was just the matchup but he just doesnt seem like he scares many defenses.

Switz was 6 for 29/4.8 yards, but he did have 2 3rd down conversions I believe.
He is not supposed to be a featured wide fucking receiver.
It is like reverse reverse reverse discrimination. Tomlin and Sherman feeling white guilt and highlighting Switz because they want to be renaissance men and not have all blacks on the WR Corp and they end up discriminating against black players who should be getting more touches based on talent. I am joking of course....I think. I never thought they would think Switz was Edelman.

I honestly felt that he could have had 200 all purpose yards if they wouldn’t have deferred the kickoff and got him established. He was primed and ready and I thought looked good. Just needed touches.

Dunno, o line looked out of sync run blocking all night, at times simply awful. Conversely, they started right at Watt, establishing the run, getting the corner and going from there.

You are probably more correct than my feeling. I just rewatched the first couple of series...it is hard to say how honestly. They pitched to Connor 3 times in a row I believe, and then stuffed him on the 3rd one; imagine that. Samuels did not seem to deliver on the short yardage runs. Penalties and drops and the Munchak being gone....it makes you want to throw out the baby and the bathwater.

Positive: Tickets to next week's home game will be cheaper.
It may not seem like a positive but I really liked the work of Bush and Barron in coverage. I am sorry but James White and Rex Burkhead are probably the best pass catching RB duo in the NFL.
Bush is a rookie, Barron is playing in his first game as a Steeler, they are thrown into about the absolute worst position you could possibly be in terms of being an ILB in coverage.
Yes, we lost he game, and White and Rex did pretty well, and yet...
...I liked what I saw from Bush and Barron. They did not seem to be overly outmatched, I saw a lot of times where NE was really taking it to them with picks and rubs, doing every little trick to get separation.
B and B have the next 15 games to get better and better. The speed, quickness and fluidity is all there with these two ILBs. I would love to see B&B in a rematch with White and Burkhead when they have a full season of experience playing together.
Kam Kelly did about as well as can be expected facing Tom Brady. Yeah, he had a miscommunication that gave up an easy TD. I also saw him come up and make tackles that I didn't expect him to. Again, I liked what I saw from him and what he did in the preseason. But again, to start your first NFL game against Tom Brady in NE??? What were people expecting? That he would have 2 INTs, take one to the house for a pick six??

Hargrave and Watt looked good from what I saw. The other 9 guys looked like absolute dog shit.
I'll give Bush a pass. Not many harder first assignments than playing the Pats in Foxboro. Great learning experience for him even if he came up way short.
