Chickillo injured - who replaces
Chickillo apparently has ankle injury, may be out for Denver game.
Do they finally activate Ola? Has he even been practicing? Looked great in preseason, but they must not think he's ready.
Given how little Chickillo does, wouldn't mind seeing him on IR and Ola finally up. Otherwise who else can play OLB?

Now that's a guy I haven't thought about in weeks.

Cut Justin Hunter and bring in Adeniyi,
I'd love to see Ola's pass rushing presence give some breathers for Watt and Dupree.
especially in Denver where we always seem gassed and get gassed...

B2B nailed it. Already have Burnett back. Got Fort who can play sub packages and Bostic plays where he has been. I would love to see them cut Hunter but I think with the conservative nature the Steelers implement Hunter has a job till February. Adeniyi could be a wave player if they could find him a roster spot. All that said do we even know if Chickillo is going to miss any time?

I hope it's a simple injury and he's back next week. I actually think Chick has played pretty well (yesterday included) on D and, more importantly, on STs. On D, he is what he is, a late round draft pick, role player. On Teams, he's a leader and playmaker.

Yes...he is what he is...a backup/roll player that does his job decent enough.
But of course, he is not the type and style of player that certain posters prefer, so obviously he sucks. And of course, in typical SteelerFury fashion, we grab that baton and run with it...

He is opportunistic. He pops up more often than you would think when the ball is loose or a big play is being made.

We have a term for that; it's been "Dong Sack" as long as I can remember.

Chickillo made a good play on one of the rush stops in Q4, but he has been fairly invisible this year, even on STs.

Frankly I'm just interested in seeing what Adeniyi could do. We know what Chickillo can do, which is serviceable but limited. Ola at least showed more burst and bend in preseason than anyone else - granted vs scrubs most of the time.
But not even sure if he's been practicing since he's been eligible to come off IR. Anyone know?
With games coming up vs Rogers, Brady, and Brees, any ability to get after the QB is going to be sorely needed.

I'd like to see what he can do too, but I haven't seen a thing about him coming back anytime soon. Plus, against Brady and Brees a slightly improved outside rush isn't going to make a huge difference, imo. You have to hit Brady up the middle and fast. Brees somewhat the same, and he'll accurately dump it off so fast it'll make your head spin.

I think Chickillo is a decent back up. He can play on either side. He can drop into coverage. Chickillo is a jack of all trades. He would be missed I think. Hopefully he can return. I doubt they promote Adeniyi. Someone else would have to play Chickillo's spot. As was already touched on in earlier posts.
Agree. Chickillo won't blow up the stat sheet, but he quietly does his job well enough as a sub. And he's an integral part of ST.Steelafan77 wrote:I think Chickillo is a decent back up. Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Ola just tweeted that he is practicing tomorrow.

So we should call them “Chick Turnovers”?

https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/2018/11/19/looking-at-the-steelers-options-to-replace-anthony-chickillo/
When Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addresses the media on Tuesday, he will offer an update on the ankle injury suffered by backup outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo in last week’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. An ankle injury to a reserve linebacker might not seem like a big deal, but considering the lack of depth at the position, the team would need to make a move to replace him if he misses any time.
Here are the top options to replace Chickillo:
Farrington Huguenin
Huguenin is a second-year guy out of Kentucky who is currently on the Steelers practice squad. At 268 pounds, he’s a big, stout run defender but relatively untested as an edge rusher in game situations.
Matthew Thomas
The easiest choice might be to activate a player for special teams and just use Thomas on the edge. Thomas has elite speed and showed in preseason he can have an impact so sliding him into the backup spot makes the most sense.
Keion Adams
Adams has been patiently waiting his turn and the Chickillo injury might give it to him. He’s the best pure pass rusher on this list and could be pulled off the practice squad if an edge specialist is what the Steelers want.
Ola Adeniyi
We included Adeniyi on this list but activating him from IR means he probably won’t play immediately. It didn’t seem as if Chickillo’s injury was bad enough to miss several games so Adeniyi isn’t likely to be in the mix.
Why does all this matter? Mainly because the Steelers travel to Denver this week to take on the Broncos. The elevation can play a factor in conditioning, so depth and rotation play a much bigger role this week.

How bad can the injury to Chickillo's ankle be? That was not really talked about either.@missi_matthews
The #Steelers have placed linebacker Ola Adeniyi on the team’s Reserve Injured;Designated to Return List. He’s allowed to practice with the team today. https://twitter.com/missi_matthews/stat ... e-today%2F
Edit:
Although there has not been any status update on Chickillo prior to the Steelers’ first full practice of the week Wednesday, Chickillo was spotted at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex walking without a limp or any sort of medical device on his legs. https://triblive.com/sports/steelers/14 ... ed-reserve

So who goes when Ola returns? Hunter would be an easy choice, but then who goes when Eli Rogers returns?

If/when Ola returns, I gotta think Marcus Allen goes to the PS. They have a bunch of Safeties and he hasn't even been dressing. I don't think Rogers comes back.

This makes the most sense. Davis, Burnett, Edmunds, Dangerfield move Allen down and bring #92 up.
