But why would a completely distinct league being interested in his services indicate that there is no collusion in the NFL to keep him off a team?

Kaepernick turned down a contract offer from Denver in 2016, and now it's coming out that he made an outrageous demand to play for (essentially) a minor league team. It's another data point of Kaep having an over-inflated value of himself.

The story been thoroughly debunked. Kaepernick did not make that demand.

Honest Q - where are you seeing this debunked? ESPN, USA Today, Washington Post and others are all running the story, and I'm not seeing a correction on any of them.

Aside from the fact that he fucking blows. I dont know what he's crying about. I think I'd rather have Lamar Jackson then him.

Sorry, one of the NFL network regulars said both the league representative and Kaepernick's people vehemently denied the report. AP reported it, unsourced. Can't locate the tweet right now, but it was someone more reputable than, say, Peaches or CrapReport.

A. Huge. Fat. Payday. And to think I was told years ago hydraulics moved the world. Money. Money moves the world always has always will. $

I saw an article where Polian inquired with sackorpick about possibly joining the AAF. Sackorpick claimed he won't even consider joining the AAF unless there's $20Mil to start...

Kaep cleaned up.

Zero doubt about it.

Numbers I'm seeing is that Kaepernick got between 60 and 80 million.

I believe it.

When Brandon Weeden, Paxton Lynch, Tom Savage, Nathan Peterman, EJ Manual, Trever Siemian & Cody Kessler have jobs before Colin Kaepernick....the NFL is going to get the living shit beat out of it in court.

.....and the NFL knew it.

Wheter or not that’s true, those things don’t allow the league to collude against him.

Both sides win.

The guy who "self-sacrificed" his way to more popularity than he ever would've received as an NFL QB and a sportswear deal he never would've received as an NFL QB is compensated well (perhaps even fairly if collusion was in fact real) for this and continues to get paid on his "self-sacrifice".

The league realizes the financial hit could've been a lot worse than $80M if he played. $80M, even if paid in lump sum, is 1% of the league's $8B in revenues. Small write-off and the problem goes away.

My own take...He's definitely better than many of the dildo's that got PT this year.....he probably would've had a job if it weren't for a combination of salary caps and his salary demands vs. the persistent drama (see steelers if you don't think drama and off-field media attention can't derail a team). He probably would've had a job if he was willing to take less money because teams were probably looking to reduce his demands by a risk premium (if there was no league-wide collusion).

It depends. It takes two to tango — maybe CK’s salary demands were quiet large. He learned quickly that not playing was going to be more financially valuable compared to playing unless he got a big payday.

I'm not convinced the league colluded against him. Did the league collude against Tebow, or was he simply not good enough for the baggage he brought?

I thought he may have had an offer or two to be a back-up. Smart move turning that down if you were going to shake down the league for multiples of what you could possibly earn over your remaining career.

This. I've said before CK is clearly a very savvy guy....leveraged the whole thing into a big Nike contract, then gets a huge settlement from the league. Race-baiting is big business.

I've also said that, unlike many of the other virtu-signalers in all this, whether or not you agree with him CK is a true activist getting involved with what he believes and trying to make a difference.

Kaepernick took a team to a Super Bowl and was comparing him to Tebow is silly.

Hell, Kaepernick's last season, on a HORRIFIC 49ers team, he threw 16 TD's and 4 INT's.

Teams didn't want to touch him because of his social justice work. Fine. Now the league's paying for it.

A SHITLOAD.

It's not that simple, KC

Was he a good teammate? It appears to be the opposite.

One former teammate calls him more of a distraction than a contributing teammate.

“As one Niners employee explained it, Kaepernick wouldn’t stay late at the facility during the season like many quarterbacks routinely do, saying he’d take work home,” Breer writes. “And there were examples where coaches saw what looked like shoddy prep surfacing in inexplicable mental errors in games. Another staffer, asked if he thinks Kaepernick wants to keep playing, answered, ‘I do think he wants to play — to stay relevant.'”

In most jobs, you don't get to make political waves and cause distractions to the reason you were hired in the first place.

It's silly to pretend there isn't some overlap with Tebow.

It's especially pertinent because we're talking about CK as a back-up. KC is saying CK is better than a number of starters. That's true, but that's not how the NFL operates with QB's.

Once you've proven you are not a franchise caliber QB - which CK was not - then you might get a stop-gap job but mostly teams are looking at you as a back-up. And that's when the baggage outweighs the talent/contribution, as with Tebow.

The sheep will look into this case for their political purposes... but my guess it's more of a matter of NFL owners simply don't want a court case going through their emails. Certainly there are emails that say something to the effect of "No way would I want this guy on my team" with another owner agreeing.. and probably worse than that with regards to other topics.

If there is even legal basis based on that to go to trial the NFL would rather settle regardless of whether they would win or not... playing the game in this case is losing.

Maybe with the money Kap can go hunt down the guys who attacked Jussie Smollett
